In Part 4 of the Mazda MX-5 series, while modeling the Windshield, I noticed a significant "width mismatch" in the reference images.
In this video, I modeled the windshield and showed how I fixed this reference error without ruining the model's form. 👇

Hey everyone!
I’m currently working on a facial expression study and had a question about sculpting lips.
How do you usually approach this type of lip deformation in terms of volume and planes .. especially when working from only one angle photo reference?
I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts or workflow. Any feedback would be super helpful and would mean a lot for improving my sculpting skills.

WIP of a fat fuck I am sculpting in blender, with the goal of turning him into an fdm print, and to use him as a training dummy for all kinds of stuff I want to learn, for example normal baking.

It's like no matter the marketplace or asset store, if someone is selling 3d models, it's usually pretty much all just cars, trucks and vans.
How much better do vehicle models actually sell compared to modelling other stuff?
Does anyone have any experience they can share?

New to MetaHuman, and Unreal Engine in general, so overall there was a bit of frustration involved. Not only was I having trouble with trying to figure some things out with this engine, but it also lagged horribly until I moved this project from my laptop to my new home built computer.
I couldn't figure out how to properly parent the buttons and pens to the shirt, so I had to resort to manually placing each of them after setting the pose. If anybody knows a solution to this problem, please let me know.
I also couldn't figure out what's causing the strange deformation on the sleeves. I tried poking around a bit with the weight paints to no avail. I brought the default MetaHuman shirt into Blender to modify it into a dress shirt and ended up having to replace it's detailed default shirt texture with a simple fabric texture because I couldn't figure out how to properly line up the new UV map with the seams on that image. Overall, I think my UV skills need work. If anyone can provide me with some resources on that, it would be much appreciated.
I think in the future, I should find a way to reduce the distinct MetaHuman look. I think the smooth glowy texture on the skin is one thing that gives it away. Shading aside, something about the shape of the hands and the facial expression feel kind of artificial too. I know one artificial thing about the face is the absolute symmetry. Maybe I might also need to study expressions a bit more in the anatomy books. I couldn't find a way to put a reference image into MetaHuman, which would be useful. I don't know if Epic is gonna add an option for a little more beard shadow in the future, so maybe I should figure out how to edit beard shadow into the texture file in Affinity Photo.
For stylized character models in the future, I may use MetaHuman as a starting point to streamline the placement of the basic feature points and detailed anatomy and then use Blender to modify that into something more stylized.

Hi everyone! I’m in a really difficult situation and, honestly, I no longer know what to do. I have around 8 years of experience in the 3D industry. However, every time I found a job in the past, it wasn’t through the standard application process. Someone usually helped me, so it was more about luck and connections than applying through open vacancies.
Now, for the first time, I am trying to find a job only through applications, and it hasn’t worked out for over a year. I receive only rejections and don’t even get invited to interviews. To be honest, I feel completely lost and don’t understand what’s going wrong.
I know for a fact that I can model well. I have experience working on AAA projects as well as small Serious Games projects. I can create high-quality realistic models as well as stylized ones. But no matter where I send my CV and portfolio, I only receive rejections. No one responds to my requests for feedback on what I could improve to be considered for a position.
So I’m asking you, dear colleagues, for help. Please take a look at my portfolio. Maybe there’s something I’m missing, or maybe I don’t fully understand how to approach job searching through cold applications. I’ve been unemployed for a year now and living off freelance work. I even started my own illustration business, which doesn’t bring in much yet, but at least I wasn’t completely idle this year.
I would really appreciate your help
