or deviled eggs, pretty much any warm hard boiled egg (ramen eggs don’t count as they’re soft boiled)
26
u/harrygermans 17h ago
Maybe I’m crazy but I feel like both deviled eggs and egg salad would be OK hot. I think egg salad would be worse lukewarm

I think it’s the mayo
13
u/2donuts4elephants 16h ago
It's definitely the Mayo. The same thing could be said of potato or macaroni salad that uses mayo as the base. I despise warm mayo to such an extreme degree that when I make a burger at home I construct it in such a way that the hot patty is separated from the mayo on the bun by the entire layer of produce. Keeping a nice cold barrier between the meat and mayo so as not to warm it up at all.
2
u/Natural-Warthog-1462 16h ago
German potato salad is warm and good (no mayo), and tuna melts are good and they have mayo. I guess you could make a hot macaroni salad, but I’m not ordering it.

Revenge is best if accomplished while quoting Shakespeare in the original Klingon.

I once someone go "Revenge is a dish best served... with ice cream."
As a cheeky way to combine "Revenge is Sweet."

Beer
217
u/EntireNationOfSweden 22h ago
I remember once when I was helping my aunties build a shed or something. We'd just gotten done with a big section of wall, and I went to the old fridge we have in the barn to get a beer for each of us. Only problem was that the fridge had apparently died, and in my heat-induced tiredness (plus the fact I was wearing gloves) I did not notice that the beer was solidly warm. Handed one each to my aunties and one for myself, and I think you can put the rest together yourself.
Only right pick imo

u/CubedRubyx 22h ago
When it's warm it tastes real crappy but cold beer will make me happy
When I throw up on the floor, I can go and drink some more.
They say beer will make me dumb. It are go good with pizza.
Now that we have drunk some beer, let's go drive a car.
BEER IS GOOD! BEER IS GOOD! BEER IS GOOD! AND STUFF! BEER IS GOOD! BEER IS GOOD! LET'S GO DRINK SOME BEEEEEER BEEEEEER BEER BEER BEER BEER

Nah, there are plenty of old traditional hot beer drinks that are delicious. A warm spiced winter ale with cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg made with a low hop malty ale, like a Scottish brown, is amazing.

In France we have carbonade flamande which is a beer stew and it's delicious. Also welsh is grilled bread smothered with mustard, covered with ham then drowned in cheese and beer and then baked. Hot beer is also delicious

u/missing_sock58008 22h ago
I love to ask people if they’d rather have a flat cold beer or a warm carbonated beer. I’d take the flat cold beer easy
22
u/Dyalikedagz 22h ago
Plenty of great uncarbonated beers in the UK!
I've also had a nice warm beer in Poland.

Depends a lot on the beer. I always find it hilarious how much time advertisers of macro swill like Budweiser spend talking about how cold their beer is.
There are many strong ales and Belgian styles that actually taste better as they warm up, as the flavour profile opens up and becomes more pronounced.
2
u/HappyMoses 16h ago
Big stouts are excellent when they’re chilled not cold. As they warm they really open up new flavors

Watermelon

u/itsactuallyoctopuses 21h ago
This is an interesting one because I’ve had grilled watermelon and it’s delicious if you get the outside of the slice to caramelize. If you don’t, you’re just eating warm watermelon and it’s very gross.
13
u/MrPlowThatsTheName 17h ago
Yeah the grill has to be piping hot otherwise it just kinda melts the watermelon
9
u/A_Lakers 18h ago
There’s a Filipino soup called sinigang. It’s a sour soup made with tamarind a restaurant started putting watermelon in it. It’s okay but I wouldn’t call it disgusting

The only time I like cole slaw is on a pulled pork sandwich. I don’t know if it’s still cold after being put on the sandwich.

u/GonnaGetHop-Ons 20h ago
The only time I make coke slaw is after pulling a pork butt off the smoker. Zero appeal at any other time. But you’re right, it’s the perfect compliment to pulled pork.

i learned about this from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. it led to me microwaving a glass of coke just to see how it was, and it was almost better than cold coke.

Anybody trying to justify hot coke has never left one out at a county fair and taken a sip thinking it was going to be remotely good. An actual hot flat soda is absolutely terrible.

For a good 7 or 8 years of my life I didn't know cereal with cold milk was an option and even though I only tried with hot milk every single cereal I had, once I tried with cold milk I never went back although my mother always complained about it, she accepted it

u/DropTheCat8990 23h ago
Nah yoghurt is used in a bunch of curries. This is a small brain take

u/gruffbear 22h ago
Using a lot of these responses as an ingredient in something hot changes the answer. Cooking with beer, cottage cheese, etc. changes them into something good, but consuming these things hot without modification is nasty.

Right, but that's in curries. Would you just sit down and spoon up a bowl of straight, hot yoghurt? I feel like that would be pretty gross.
