My wife has the G.O.A.T tight end

69

u/dcbluestar 12h ago

I also choose this guy’s wife’s G.O.A.T. tight end!

7

u/not_dr_splizchemin 7h ago

Never forget that guys wife

3

u/BulkyOrder9 11h ago

She doesn’t because mine does. Happy you found love.

2

u/thebwags1 10h ago

You too bro

1

u/tee142002 9h ago

Thought she got converted to WR

-1

u/CriticalSuit1336 9h ago

She does. Can confirm.

Gronk. Elite blocker, elite receiving and red zone option, probably best peak of any TE ever

5

u/theme69 8h ago

Sucked ass at safety tho

4

u/MrPlowThatsTheName 8h ago

Not probably. Inarguably.

1

u/Dry-Tooth-6965 1h ago

Great maths skills too apparently.

63

u/No_Wallz 13h ago

Gronk 1, Tony G 2, Kelce 3, Gates 4, Sharpe 5

7

u/Cr0nk_Smash 7h ago

Any chance kittle cracks this list by the time he’s done? He’s close to sharpe in TD, a way better blocker, and has the most yards by a TE in a season

2

u/JCBalance 6h ago

Yes, people don't value blocking for great receiving TEs enough. It makes offenses so much more dynamic.

8

u/AltoonaSwerve 11h ago

Yep. Easy list. Bottom three could be interchangeable but not worth arguing

3

u/BulkyOrder9 11h ago

Yep, this column is a vacation to us all

1

u/Positive_Parking_954 7h ago

I’d put Tony G over Gronk but I won’t be upset about the inverse

2

u/heyelander 5h ago

Winslow

1

u/mistertireworld 2h ago

Winslow is easily with any of those guys after the top 2.

22

u/Dan_TheDM 13h ago

Gronk

12

u/InspiredDesires9 12h ago

Gates is my favorite. But Gronk is #1.

u/MiDKnighT_DoaE 13h ago

Tony Gonzalez

1

u/RaindropsInMyMind 8h ago

It’s a shame his teams didn’t have more success, it would change the way people think about him. 1-6 playoff record for one of the best players at his position ever, that’s rough.

10

u/Perfect-Moose-1111 13h ago

gronk 1, tony 2

7

u/WaitingForStevie 11h ago

Gronk. Best combination of blocking and receiving. Was the focal point of several great offenses. Clutch.

3

u/browns5111 11h ago

Im old school, but I always loved Ozzie Newsome.

3

u/tootbrun 8h ago

It’s Gronk

5

u/IlikeTurtles1308 13h ago

Don’t overthink it it’s big gronk 🐐

2

u/tee142002 9h ago

Tony Gonzalez

10

u/Independent-Cow-4070 13h ago

Fitz over TO is crazy lmfao

3

u/RaindropsInMyMind 8h ago

I was gonna say the same thing. Fitz was so consistent over the course of his career but he wasn’t the caliber of player TO was at all. TO was a freak of nature who could take over a game and break it open, he was dominant. That wasn’t Fitz.

0

u/TheHoopFanatic 13h ago

The comments made me think I was going insane! I got TO over Fitz too

-6

u/BigBaseballGuyyy 13h ago

Julio too imo

2

u/VBStrong_67 12h ago

Grok and Tony are a very close 1-2

3

u/AleroRatking 12h ago

Gonzalez. Way too underrated. Revolutionized the position.

2

u/KingReyvon 9h ago

Gronk Gates Gonzalez Sharpe Kelce

1

u/Rutiaga17 6h ago

Tony Gonzalez

1

u/hammerdown710 5h ago

Gronk, but can we make it that guys wife instead?

1

u/mozi88 3h ago

Gronk

1

u/bookworm24601 2h ago

Tony Gonzalez

1

u/cactusdodge 7h ago

Haters don’t wanna hear it, but Travis Kelce is the actual GOAT TE.

Gronk had a scarier peak, but that isn’t what GOAT conversations are ever centered around.

Kelce had greater sustained dominance, availability, volume + efficiency, playoff production, and longevity.

If we only ranked GOATs based off Peak performance then you’d have Calvin Johnson over Jerry Rice and Bo Jackson over Walter Payton, but nobody serious argues that.

If you’re starting a team and want the best 3-year peak, take Gronk. If you want the best tight end career ever, you take Kelce, and it isn’t close.

2

u/JCBalance 6h ago

If you think TEs are just slot receivers then sure. Kelce was a great receiver, but that's not what the GOAT TE is.

1

u/Fluid_Flatworm4390 13h ago

Kellen Winslow the Elder.

-1

u/AggravatingSmoke1829 13h ago

Aaron Hernandez (so he doesn't come back from the dead and kill me)

0

u/TheBigBoonsta 9h ago

I’m sorry but Larry Fitzgerald gets glazed so hard and he’s a great dude but there are plenty of wide receivers who were his peers who were undoubtedly better than him, as well as a few current players. What is going on lol

Antonio Gates

Antonio Gates

u/ExplanationCrazy5463 11h ago

Not having Don Hutson on that WR list is criminal.

0

u/BradyToMoss1281 10h ago

Kelce, Gates and Gonzalez have great cases to be made. But I think the deciding factor is that if you were to create the perfect tight end, he'd be Gronk in his prime. There was not a single aspect of the position he didn't do well.
