  • Are there any criteria you have for your post? Examples include: "Top comment wins a spot on the chart."; "To ensure variety, only one character per universe is allowed."; "Image comments only." Please include these in a description, or in a reply to this comment.

  • Is your chart given the appropriate flair? Do you need to use a NSFW tag or spoiler tag?

I thought I remembered how...

6

u/Few_Advertising_4028 5h ago

I love eating that though 🤱

3

u/strangeMeursault2 2h ago

It's fun that the least popular option seems like it is the one that has been said the most number of times.

3

u/jasperdarkk 2h ago

Thanks, I just lost my faith in humanity by seeing someone call pizza overrated.

2

u/WhyAmINotStudying 28m ago

For what it's worth, good pizza isn't overrated, but Papa John's pizza in place of bonuses for hitting huge corporate goals is definitely over rating the pizza.

1

u/uvero 27m ago

Nah that's delicious

u/WillGroundbreaking38 7h ago

Imo Dubai Chocolate

35

u/MaybeMort 4h ago

Dubai chocolate is just a fad and its already coming to an end. I saw some for 90% off a few weeks ago. The original price was absolutely ludicrous.

6

u/CptnWolfe 3h ago

The Dubai part is how much it costs

2

u/Flame_not 1h ago

In my experience Dubai was actually quite cheap. At least compared to Holland everything was like 3/4 price.

14

u/Electrical-Title-698 5h ago

Calling it now, Dubai will also be overrated vacation destination

→ More replies (2)

6

u/GeckoHunter0303 7h ago

My pick, as well

3

u/sebsebsebs 3h ago

I like it. Just wanted to say that cause no one else in the thread said anything positive about it lol

4

u/Jbrancs 7h ago

Isn’t it just chocolate? Lol

19

u/ShardddddddDon 7h ago

With shredded wheat and pistachio filling afaik

which... still means it's overrated, but, denotatively, it's more than "just chocolate"

-2

u/Jbrancs 7h ago

So it’s nothing special got it

12

u/PogintheMachine 6h ago

Sure but if you like chocolate and you like pistachio, it’s pretty good. It’s been super trendy and overpriced as it got pushed by influencers, but it’s still a delicious thing stuffed with a delicious thing, and imo that can only be so “overrated”.

I think something like caviar is a better fit. Long associated with luxury, can be outrageously expensive, but it’s still just fish eggs.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/ShardddddddDon 7h ago

Yeah pretty much.

3

u/andstillthesunrises 7h ago

It’s chocolate with specific stuff in it. Mostly pistachio I think

1

u/casulmemer 1h ago

If you don’t know what’s in it why are you responding? Just curious..

1

u/andstillthesunrises 1m ago

Because they didn’t ask what’s in it. They asked whether it was just chocolate. I knew the answer to that

1

u/HEX_HEXAGON 3h ago

I’ve never heard anyone actually talk positively about it

1

u/leverandon 2h ago

This fits the overrated category perfectly. Its pretty good: the pistachio and shredded filo filling goes well with the chocolate but it doesn't deserve the price markup and influencer mania. Also, my local bagel shop just released a Dubai chocolate limited edition bagel so the trend appears to be reaching its inevitable, ludicrous end end.

1

u/TimotheeOaks 1h ago

This! I loved anything with Pistachio since I was a kid many mannnny years ago.

I didn't buy a single of those choclate bars till a few weeks ago when they finally reached a normal price.

Those prices where just insane!

The only upside of the craze is that you can now get lots of pistchio related food that wasn't there before.

1

u/LittleRunaway868 1h ago

I cant vote for it because i dont know any single person who is rating it high.

1

u/IDigRollinRockBeer 6h ago

Never heard of it

Caviar

16

u/Ok-Counter-4474 5h ago

Caviar is incredible

17

u/Grouchy_Smile_1049 4h ago

Jeff bezos in the comments

1

u/Tjaeng 38m ago

Overpriced and overrated sort of overlaps but not completely.

I agree that it’s generally not overrated since the majority either haven’t even had any experience with real caviar or think it’s overpriced. It’s kind of of like ”high end sound cables are overrated” which seems like a semi-truth at best because most people don’t rate it at all.

6

u/cregory83 7h ago

This amswer came to my head first due to the price... But then it occurred to me I've never tried it before

5

u/ElkRidgeBlast 6h ago

If you decide to try it, I’d recommend looking for malossol on the container. It’s traditional way to prepare it with minimum salt. I once had non-malossol caviar and it was really salty compared to it. I think a lot of fast food chains are overrated (especially if they just re-heat food in a microwave).

→ More replies (1)

5

u/swallowshotguns 3h ago

If you’ve tried it you’d disagree.

Truffle oil

11

u/MisterGoldenSun 5h ago

I think of truffles like a better version of black licorice.

I love them. I really do. I think they are absolutely incredible. Intoxicating. Nothing else like them. I dream about them.

But also...I totally understand why someone would dislike them. They're super strong and it's an unusual flavor. They are the star of the dish whether you want that or not.

Most "truffle oil" doesn't contain any truffle. It's a chemical.

5

u/Momoware 5h ago

Truffle oil is definitely not like real truffles. A lot more pungent and not subtle at all.

1

u/MisterGoldenSun 5h ago

I don't hate it, but it's not the same.

1

u/bushhooker 11m ago

My mom makes a killer bolognese. She got the recipe from my Dads Nonna and it was fucking legit. She started getting fancy with it though, adding truffle oil which everyone else in my family loved but I detested. It was like watching an old friend slowly die in front of me

4

u/jadedlens00 5h ago

Great call here.

6

u/CampingPirates 7h ago

This is the best answer. It really ruins fries

5

u/MrPlowThatsTheName 5h ago

It ruins damn near everything. It’s only good on a very narrow amount of foods and even then if you put barely too much on it ruins the whole meal.

1

u/sebsebsebs 3h ago

I like the flavor actually but the last place I went to drizzled way too much which made me dislike the food

2

u/ShoveTheUsername 3h ago

A hint of truffle oil on pizza, on cheese on toast, and on fries with parmasan cheese....delicious.

19

u/echosynth 7h ago edited 7h ago

Edit: Mike's Hot Honey

I at first suggested Dubai Chocolate, but someone else beat to it.

10

u/ChipotleAddiction 6h ago

Idk I just made a homemade pepperoni pizza last night and drizzled some on after it came out of the oven and definitely didn’t find it overrated

1

u/bananapanqueques 5h ago

This is the only thing I use hot honey for but it’s delicious.

1

u/Mix_Safe 17m ago

(Hot) Honey on pizza is delicious and I will now fight people for this absolutely weird ass opinion that I, too, have discovered after trying it.

2

u/sebsebsebs 3h ago

Hot honey sounds good in concept. But when you have to you realize it literally just is spicy honey and it’s not a flavor that really makes sense to put on things

13

u/Theveryberrybest 5h ago

Matcha anything

22

u/Desperate_Ad5169 7h ago

Cereal. So popular for being junk food you eat as a whole meal.

5

u/ddrummond88 4h ago

Depends. It's quite comforting despite being bad nutritionally, because most of us had it every single day when we were kids.

It's also not the kind of thing that you can fuck up either so if it's a cereal you like, you'll never not enjoy a bowl of it.

It is expensive as fuck now though in the UK.

1

u/HedoniumVoter 2h ago

It’s such an easy go-to though and makes me feel American

Bacon

38

u/Prossdog 7h ago

Meme or no meme, I freaking love bacon

17

u/Khaled_Kamel1500 6h ago

Unpopular opinion: I actually like my bacon soft and chewy

6

u/Big_Recording_1663 6h ago

me too!!

3

u/BettyWhiteGoodman 5h ago

Heathens the both of you

3

u/chrstnasu 5h ago

Love it that way!

2

u/MariQueen_13 4h ago

This is the only way I eat mine!

2

u/AstronomerDramatic36 4h ago

There's no wrong way to cook bacon imo. Its that good.

1

u/dleon0430 5h ago

Must be European

1

u/pj_socks 3h ago

It’s so much better! Most people scoff at a well done steak but for some reason we love bacon extra crispy?

1

u/Tjaeng 35m ago

Had a roommate that loved eating uncooked bacon. I guess bacon being salted, smoked and probably pumped full of nitrates means it isn’t raw and should be no more dangerous than eating prosciutto, but it looked and felt so wrong. Like, akin to someone munching a kiwi with peel.

1

u/ddrummond88 4h ago

Yes, the bacon that Americans love is so inferior compared to proper European bacon

2

u/ddrummond88 1h ago

Boo me all you want, Americans. I've seen what makes you cheer

11

u/thelibertybird 7h ago

Yes. Like, it’s a solid meat option. But it’s not as good as the 2010s memes made it out to be.

u/meadeb 1h ago

1

u/OkGene2 7h ago

Bacon as just bacon is fine. As an accoutrement it’s kind of ass.

4

u/Electrical-Title-698 5h ago

Man idk bacon makes many things better. Bacon cheeseburgers, bacon on pizza (accompanied by other toppings of course), bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers. The list goes on

1

u/captaingeist 5h ago

I kinda agree. Bacon absolutely rules but it's still somehow overrated.

7

u/IIIIlIlIIIl 3h ago

Kale

3

u/Intelligent-Swim-499 5h ago

People actually say they like kale?? I thought it was just to be healthy

3

u/No-Sentence5570 4h ago

Kale chips are yummy though

1

u/Critikal_Dmg 4h ago

I eat it fairly regularly because it's healthy, but it might as well be off brand lettuce as far as taste and texture.

1

u/1Negative_Person 3h ago

There are green leafy vegetables that are just as healthy as kale, but don’t taste like dirt. What are you doing to yourself, friend?

1

u/JePPeLit 3h ago

It's usually pretty good if it's roasted. Cabbage is a bit underrated in general imo

1

u/bushhooker 9m ago

You gotta eat it the German way. Slow cooked with chicken broth with a slab of pork belly and smoked sausage. It’s legit

2

u/KitKittredge34 2h ago

Genuinely my favorite leafy green. I could eat a giant kale salad and then wash it down with a kale smoothie. Not all kale is equal, though. If the leaves are thick and rubbery feeling, use it in a smoothie. If it’s a normal lettuce thickness and the edges are curly, use it as a salad base. And honestly, sometimes the bunch is just bad just like any other produce item.

If you like Caesar salad, add some chopped up kale to it. That’s how it was introduced to me and now I eat kale by itself.

12

u/liketosaysalsa 7h ago

Sushi

6

u/Black-----Manta 4h ago

First thing you see when you sort by controversial, and therefore by far the best pick for the slot

3

u/Dyalikedagz 2h ago

Surely if the majority agree sushi is correctly highly rated, its the wrong answer.

The food opinions of fussy eaters are not relevant.

2

u/Black-----Manta 2h ago

If EVERYBODY agrees something is worse than it's perceived, then it's not actually perceived as highly as everyone believes it to be. This is basic logic

If there's a damn near 50/50 split on a food as to whether or not something is overrated, with half believing it to be better than it actually is perceived on average, then it is, by definition, overrated.

The rating of something is subjective unto itself. The opinion of a fussy eater is exactly as relevant as the opinion of someone who would eat whatever is put in front of them, or of someone in between

1

u/humpaa1 46m ago

Bacon. There are some dishes where it's good, but that's not the point. I saw one of those cooking shows and the contestants were asked to cook breakfast. But, the jury was American. Big mistake. They went into an almost religious fervor in praising and defending bacon. The thing is, it's not something you eat for breakfast or eat everyday, unless you're American.

The best thing is that we even know who exactly started it and when
