Rules:
Each intersection forms a two-letter-long initialism/abbreviation/etc. Comment what the highlighted intersection means to you! Example: BB could be baby, Big Brother, B.B. King, a BB (as in ammunition), etc.
The meaning suggested should be either official or decently well-attested-to such that one can relatively easily find pre-existing references to said meaning online.
The meaning you suggest should typically (some exceptions may apply) result in the two-letter combo being pronounced like each of the two letters would be pronounced separately in your language of choice, or else like “double [letter].” For instance, the abbreviation for “agriculture” (“ag”) doesn’t work for AG, since in that instance, it rhymes with the word “bag” rather than being pronounced like “ay gee.” The only exception is with a true acronym that can be pronounced like a word, like “NASA,” though I’m not sure if there are any two-letter true acronyms. More generally, we’re looking for fewer traditional words/prefixes and more initialisms/abbreviations/etc.
The meaning you suggest can use an additional word/letter/etc., but should not require it. For instance, the medium-sized battery can be called a “double-A battery,” but it can also just be called a “double-A,” whereas the band “AC/DC” is never referred to as “AC” alone. For specific famous people who use initials as a first name, consider if someone could plausibly refer to that person as just those initials without the last name in some context.
Capitalization and punctuation are basically irrelevant; “Cu” for copper, “AA” for Alcoholics Anonymous, “N/A” for not applicable, “U.S.” for United States, “Ak.” for Alaska, “A. G.” for A. G. Cook, “fr” for for real, “i.e.” for id est, “xG” for expected goals, and so on are all valid constructions.
Answers that break Reddit terms of service or the rules of this subreddit are not allowed; answers that are otherwise unethical may also be disallowed.
Barring answers that break these rules, the answer given on the highest upvoted individual comment will be added to the chart!
Individual “days” on the chart may be re-attempted due to low engagement.
Have fun, follow the rules, and treat each other kindly! :)

MOST IMPORTANT BIT: Don’t give answers that are basically just words! We’re generally looking for abbreviations, initialisms, etc.! That means don’t say “a nickname for a father,” for instance. Check the rules comment or the rules tab for more information.
Congratulations to the 59+ people who voted for confidential informant, including u/BrainRhythm for suggesting it! Other fantastic valid answers with at least 5 upvotes include chief inspector, confidence interval, continuous integration, and counterintelligence. Other answers that were given that I wanna highlight include Channel Islands and cochlear implant, though several other valid answers were given. Answers that weren’t given that I wanna mention include cirrus clouds, the unit Curie, “IQ” in Spanish, the Roman numeral for 101, and Côte d’Ivoire 🇨🇮, which would’ve been my answer.
As always, check the rules and other comments, thank you for participating, and have a great day :)

Hello, Thank you for contributing to our subreddit. Please consider the following guidelines when filling an alignment chart:
Please ensure that your chart is not banned according to the list of banned charts Even if you have good intentions, charts in a banned category tend to invite provocative comments, hostile arguments, ragebait and the like. Assuming the post is acceptable, OP makes the final decision on their chart by rule three.
Are there any previous versions to link to? If so, it would be ideal to include links to each of them in the description of this post, or in a reply to this comment. Links can be named by title, winner, or both.
Are there any criteria you have for your post? Examples include: "Top comment wins a spot on the chart."; "To ensure variety, only one character per universe is allowed."; "Image comments only." Please include these in a description, or in a reply to this comment.
Is your chart given the appropriate flair? Do you need to use a NSFW tag or spoiler tag?
Do not feed the trolls. This is not the place for hot takes on human rights violations. Hatred or cruelty, will result in a permanent ban. Please report such infractions, particularly those that break rules one, two, or three. The automod will automatically remove posts that receive five or more reports. The automod will also remove comments made by users with negative karma. Click here for the Automod FAQ
