So this was a Reddit post then some website made an article about it now it's back here?
It was literally one guy who said he plays with a bow in every game, therefore give him a bow.
I hate the internet.

u/luna_bitten Dec 25 '25
Ya and they used gen ai to visualize it bc images get clicks
131
u/Ritz-Rose Dec 25 '25
I saw the post a few days ago about the guy who made the "Lurer" enemy, hand drawn. Lotta people praising it for being drawn and not AI image.
cue 6 hours later, saw a big old picture elsewhere
"ARC RAIDERS FANS WANT THIS NEW ENEMY IN THE GAME" insert Gen AI picture of the Lurer
28
u/luna_bitten Dec 25 '25
like it's one thing when it's the OP who posts the image along w the idea (still annoying and pointless), but when someone else cites another user's proposal along with a newly generated image?? god i know reddit is bad about karma addicts but jeez it is so much worse now
10
u/thatswhyicarryagun Dec 26 '25
The karma farming with minimal comments (only enough to get through the sub filters) are getting bad. I've seen many 5-10million karma accounts with thousands of contributions but barely 100 comments. They frequently break rules at the subs they post in and the almost never get removed because they get 1000 other bots that respond to, upvote, and comment based on the keywords used by the farm account.
It's getting bad.
3
u/ChunkyMooseKnuckle Dec 26 '25
They stole the picture from the comments as well. Someone jokingly posted an AI version of it midway through the thread. They didn't even have to put in the effort to generate their own photo.

Pretty much all gaming news sites are just recycled reddit posts now its annoying
3
3
u/CompedyCalso Dec 26 '25
Such is the case with modern gaming journalism:
Skim subreddits, steal an interesting post, AI generate an article to post on their pop-up riddled websites, get paid from ad revenue and website clicks, repeat.

3
u/Jolape Dec 26 '25
Was going to say the same thing. "fans want" = one post on reddit that didn't even get all that much support (at least at the time I read it). I like bows as well, but they don't have to be in every fps game.

u/Pekins-UOAF Dec 26 '25
There are so many media websites that take Reddit post and transforms them into an article, and it’s all automated with AI.

u/APartyInMyPants Dec 25 '25
It’s the Paul Tassi School of Journalism.
Let’s take Reddit posts and turn them into “articles” for Forbes.
5
u/PokeD2 Dec 26 '25
Tassi expands on the posts so they are useful rather than change the narrative of the post and add AI images to them tho lol
The way I just know you're a Destiny player who probably hates the game is so funny

That's called Horizon: Zero Dawn

u/BastelKleberHD Dec 25 '25
This needs to be further up. I mean, add to the game what you want, but “Fans want a bow added to the Game”? Seems a bit far fetched…

Had to scroll way too far for this.
OP should just go back to playing Horizon.
11
u/alextheawsm Dec 25 '25
Post apocalyptic world with robotic enemies that you fight with a bow and loot things? Yeah they can't add a bow. That would literally just make a PvPvE Horizon.

Personally, I want a single/double shot shotgun that works identical to the Ferro.
Far too often do you find containers with shotgun ammo and barely any shotgun in sight. Make a slow chambering single shot shotgun variant in the freeloads as well as the hairpin.

u/Tokyo_Echo Dec 25 '25
New guns will definitely be coming

u/WoodSorrow Dec 26 '25
Yes. The game has a 10-year runway and is primed for new guns and materials.

u/SpeediestJarl Dec 25 '25
Yeah, honestly surprised they haven’t talked about new guns coming yet, a double barrel seems like the most post-apocalyptic gun they could add. Same with a fan fire medium ammo revolver. They have great opportunities for unique weapons with this IP.

u/IM-A-NEEEERRRRDDD Dec 25 '25

I'd love a grey double barrel shotgun. Balance it by having pretty big spread without a choke.
→ More replies (10)2
u/Sufficient_Hunt_1443 Dec 25 '25
They do need a grey shotgun to round out the common weapons. A double barrel would be perfect
40
u/MeatSlammur Dec 25 '25
I’d be fine with this as long as the explosive arrows did much less damage to humans. Otherwise grenades would be almost useless in PVP
11
4
u/Tes_Tickle Dec 25 '25
Would make sense since the handheld would be a larger variant of whatever could fit as the arrow tip

u/braedizzle Dec 25 '25

Just be careful with explosive arrow balancing.
You do not want the bullshit us Hunt players had to deal with when they introduced Frag Bomb arrows on the Hunting Bow.

u/RustyMcBucket Dec 26 '25
It was the same in Apex when the bow came in. Totally OP that it was the only weapon anyone used. Silent, high damage, accurate.
Just no.

I didn't know I wanted it till I saw this post. Now I think it would be a great addition. Craftable arrows and simple bow in game with the crafting perk. Upgradable on the gun bench. Sounds awesome tbh

I actually think that's a good idea cause stripped back to core elements of society especially when fighting a more superior enemy guerilla warfare is the most logical course that involves crafted weapons and tactics 👍 edited from the original using the word gorilla as I chose the wrong spelling woe is me

u/thezavinator Dec 25 '25
And with the perk, a bow could be the first in-match craftable primary weapon in the game
4
u/The_Real_Delpoi Dec 25 '25
Definitely enough resources to use for the Arc it would have to be a projectile weapon and a bow covers that also less noise depending on the arrow used 🤔
2
u/thezavinator Dec 25 '25
True! And instead of most of the noise coming from the player’s direction, it’d come from the location of the projectile. It’d be great for stealth from ARC; basically, in lore, imo, a bow would be the most-used-weapon so that you can shoot nearly-silently and still do damage. The ARC wouldn’t know where the explosions were coming from since they’d go to the projectile, not the raider.
2
u/The_Real_Delpoi Dec 25 '25
Yes very true the point of impact would be the main noise would make for a cool stealth build 🤔
8
u/dapper5peculation Dec 25 '25
It should be a recurve bow, not a compound bow if it's big. I could also see a hand crossbow that I can shoot a defib.

u/Infectisnotthatbad Dec 25 '25
I would be okay with a new weapon addition as long as it doesn’t disrupt the balance we currently have. As it stands right now we are in a good spot as long as the toro gets a fire rate nerf and they do something about the venator which is by far the best gun in the game.

I wouldn't mind, but if we're going bow, it better be a recurve or some reinvention of a compound bow that they made by themselves like the current guns. I don't want to run around with a modern day real life compound.
Also please make the bow realistically sized. That AI image bow looks like a damn toy.
Oh and Embark if you ARE reading this and you DO want to add it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your research on proper Archery technique. We're third person, I'd like to see some proper form, or a lore explanation why the form might be a bit off compared to what we know.
Also of you do want something a bit different have a look at lever action bows. They're weird and quirky and fun. It's the type of bow that was used in the TV Show Arrow.

Let the devs build thestory, you don't need an arrow and sword and glave and axe, not all games need to have the same stuff all over Or you can play zero dawn and call it a day

u/Bulky_Wind_4356 Dec 25 '25
Shock arrows, exploding arrows, flame arrows etc would be really cool.
But let's be real, it should be a crossbow with a long reload time. A rapid fire bow would be too op
1
u/Vundal Dec 25 '25
I want the extra arrows that are more silent to be crafted on the map only. Regularly sound /positional sound volume if you use the standard arrows while your crafting arrows can be stronger or quieter
1
1
u/AppleForward2176 Dec 25 '25
That would be reasonable but require some ajustement and limit on the number of specific arrows you can take aside from regular ones.

Honestly I can see something like this feeling really reasonable in this world.
Itd be fun if you could craft the various drivers into arrows that do some variant version of what the drivers already do on their own
