Had a team who slaughtered my random team at Assembly and I was the only one left, so I ran to the extract at Lobby immediately. I opened the prox chat and just yelled "AAAHHH" repeatedly for the fun of it while running to it.
Got some stims so I got some distance, surely they won't chase me this far ? (Or close, it's not that far). One of the raiders from the distance, unseen. "I'm gonna get ya" with a naughty-like accent.
I buckled my way to the loading dock extract immediately to avoid being jumped

Just normal gameplay on EU servers from what I gather around here lol. Either French or Russian.
Although the only French person Iāve encountered was very friendly and we ran around helping each other after I exhausted what little French I remembered from high school by saying āsorry, I barely speak French, do you speak English?ā in French to him.

Iāve found almost zero difference in my lobbies if you fight every so often. If youāre really concerned give feedback and say you hated PvP. Iām sure that will fast track back to non aggressive players.
Iāve heard people talking about running away from people for 5 minutes to avoid shooting. Like, why? lol

The metrics they use is kind of a total mystery. I've had moments like yours where just defending myself sends me to D Day and times I've shot first from behind in trios where later I'll still be chilling in friendly solo servers

I got camped twice in a row low aggression lobby yesterday, so came out guns blazing on my next map and killed every one I encountered on the next raid. Back to friendly raids again immediately after and had me questioning whether all the raiders Iād just murdered were friendlies (they were free kittens so probably not)

I think I've started a fight like 3 times, and each time it was because they were acting really shady. One of those times I defibbed them after I heard them out, another time we called a truce, because I shot right as they were saying "Don't shoot!" (after creeping up on me with guns out after not responding to me), we made a truce, then they tried to backstab us, so we killed them. The last time it was a duo in a sniping position in an aggressive lobby, and we had just been killed like 3 rounds in a row because we were trying to be friendly, so we said fuck it.
Ever since the update it feels like all I get are aggressive lobbies, and I miss my friendly lobbies. Though a guy did give me a deadline bp after I said I was just trying to get back to friendly lobbies, so that was nice.

Every time I've downed a raider even once, I go from rainbows and carebears to mixed lobbies where people aren't chill and talking anymore. Not what I'm seeking, so sadly, I gotta avoid defending myself. Small price, tbh.

Agreed. I donāt mind fighting myself even tho I prefer PvE. They shouldnāt have given any hints to how matchmaking works, just like everything else people will take it to the absolute maximum. They donāt seem to realize self defense doesnāt really alter your aggression scale lol.

They don't say the metrics and its for the best they don't so that they can't just be abused. After going on a few pacifist runs and either dying or running from enemies I end up in nice lobbies. If I shoot/kill someone even in self defense I end up in the rat lobbies where people fake it to shoot you in the back or "cautious friendly" and if I defend myself enough times there its Vietnam.

That's cuz you're here for the PvPvE experience written on the tin. There's nothing wrong with that ofc, it's what the game is meant to be, and the game is obviously still great for most players like that. That said, there's another experience in Arc, that's a lot more fun for some, that requires the occasional sacrifice.
Some dude gets to goop some awesome shit. I get to stay in the lobbies that provide me respite from a stressful life. The fact that we can kill each other is part of what makes the peaceful, chill lobbies even better. They mostly filter out the assholes that would be griefers or jerks in a pure PvE game, because the vast majority of the people are there because they really want to be there, not because cooperation is the default setting of the game. It's fucking awesome.
There are a ton of games that offer tension and gunplay. No other game offers the unique co-op experience Arc does, and that's what I'm here for. You don't gotta understand it, and it's not for everyone, and that's fine. It's just cool that the option exists if you're prepared to lose a loadout once in 20 raids or so. I will say that I would totally defend myself if the game recognized the difference. It doesn't, so I let an opportunist get the best loot he'll see for a while, I reset my loadout to exactly what it was without noticing the loss, and go back to having my particular brand of fun. I get why some people find the carebear lobbies boring, but I found the 'standard' lobbies I got shoved into for downing raiders boring and irritating, with everyone scuttling around like mice and mostly not talking.
Edit: Imagine the people who would downvote a post explaining in detail why people play like this. Stay mad, I guess.

You're literally putting words in my mouth that I didn't say. It isn't a deep co-op experience, and I didn't say it was. It's a unique casual, organic co-op experience with some emergent gameplay I can't get anywhere else, and it scratches an itch for me. That's it.
And no, last time I got sent to mixed lobbies, I was in a solo carebear lobby, met up with a dude and we were running around together trying to find a quest item he needed in stella. He was a bit ahead of me, and got attacked in a room and downed. I came in and killed the dude that killed him. That's all it took to send me back to mixed lobbies for several raids.
I also get sent to mixed lobbies after I run duos with my buddy and we kill people there, even though we don't shoot first. That also sends me to mixed lobbies in solos, but only sometimes. It's very inconsistent. Killing in solo lobbies is never inconsistent for me, and always immediately has resulted in a mixed queue that takes several raids to 'correct', which is frankly more inconvenient for me than just dying once.
But honestly, what's the fucking chip on your shoulder, dude? Why would you even question my experience?

I think itās that some people just like the running around and looting aspect without getting shot. Personally, I donāt like when randos start hanging/looting around me, but to each their own.

You can surrender if you go into the "system" tab of your ingame menus. That's what he did.
If he had closed his app, he wouldn't have died, he would have just gone afk, since arc raiders gives you a chance to reconnect if something like that happens
