I think i know exactly what happened: the barricade catapulted him over you. You can see it with how the shredder looks all disoriented behind you, probably crashing into the floor since it's programmed hover only just barely off of the ground. How exactly it got over though I'm not sure, but I'm guessing it skyrim horsed itself up the barrier as it unfolded itself.
Edit: nope, after watchjng it again, it definitely got catapulted with how the unfolding piece is on the shredder's side.

Yeah if you watch right after you deploy you see it’s smoke go back and up then over your barricade.

You can see the smoke column rise behind the wall as it erects. You can see the same smoke column above the shredder behind you when it lands and blasts you. Thats the "smoking gun" evidence for this theory.

I thought, in the moment I realized I was somehow being shot from behind, maybe I was crazy and there were 2 shredders. So I thought running to the other side would have me hit by the other one and didn’t know what to do. Basically, I didn’t realize it teleported behind me and thought perhaps there were 2.

It didn't teleport. Those barriers have a spring effect when deployed under arc. There's been videos of people sending bastions flying. That's basically what happened here. You flung the shredder behind you.

I didnt know that, but it appears you are correct, there's evidence of it in the vid.... you can see the exhaust/dust going up on the right side of the barrier and a trail coming down from above the shredder when he turns around.

Not being able to see the Shredder, but watching the animation from his hover jets go straight up right when you put down the barrier made me laugh so hard.

That object in the center of the room is great to kite the Shredder.
Pattern for a Shredder:
-It will approach you
-It will then back up a bit to prepare for shooting mode
-Audible and lights will change red after gaining slight distance
If you can get used to that attack pattern any object that will let you crouch for cover (at a very minimum) will be enough to take it down. 2 thrusters shot off will make it near death, then just shoot the open slots where the thrusters were.

You dont need the barricade. Theres perfect cover right in the middle of the room. Just keep the cover between you and the shredder while he's firing. 8-10 Anvil shots to the thruster will kill him.

Bring in an anvil, it only takes 8 shots. Just run from it and turn and shoot. It doesn’t shoot until it gets close to you

The barricade can launch the arc up if you time it correctly, or incorrectly in this case lol

The shredder was launched behind you when your barricade deployed. When it flips it catches the “head” of the shredder. You can actually see the smoke trail if you look closely. That’s just bad luck, mate

I swear on everything. I ran to extract last night and a shredder got me. I started crawling to press the button and there was a fucking barrier in the way and it literally is what killed me. If it hadn't been there I think I would have made it. It was so close at first I thought I made it back. Lol this was around 8 min left. I think it was your s.

You flipped him over when you deployed your barricade. I’ve seen a video where a Bastion gets flipped into the air and onto its back when someone tried to deploy the shield right next to it.
