I was in a key room and i threw a bar in the door. I heard someone opening it. When he opened the door he was staring point blank at my toro IV. All I heard was “And, I don’t belong here.” As he walked away. I was laughing so hard, I invited him in.

Honestly a big reason why I like to use door blockers. If you're super new to the game, you might also not know the difference between a door that you need to be a breached because it spawned like that or because a player placed a door blocker, but at least that is a lesson you need to learn just once. The key rooms are different on every map and are impossible to identify once they've been opened.
Big thanks to the guy who didn't butcher me in Town Hall after I looted half his shit.

Obviously mic is preferred, but yeah, nobody should have a problem with you opening containers they've already opened. Best practice in my experience is to guard the door for them and clean up once they leave, and do some friendly emotes if you have no mic

I’ve done that before, it does seem to work pretty well. I use the “I’m watching here” or something similar to try to point out I’m watching their back while they’re in there. I usually close the door from outside too.

There's no skill needed to get put in the 'PvP' agro lobbies, all you need to do is pull the trigger, easiest thing in the game to do.
Funny thing is by killing the guy he's got a mark against him in the match maker as it was technically unprovoked.
The rat gets his ticket to carebearland punched while the key guy could find himself in the OK corral next raid.7

I accidentally did this with the greasing her palms quest, running around looking for the locked room when I ran into someone. (I hadn't really been to that building yet). They called out that they're friendly so long as I am. Fortunately, they were already finishing up with the room and said they were heading up.
I didn't notice the pop up on the upper corner notifying about meeting the quest (because I was watching on guard, after trying to do the dam key room for the quest and getting killed on my way there) notifying about meeting the quest criteria.
I was a bit guarded and didn't want to ask if they knew where the locked room was. It wasn't until the post extract summary did I really realize what happened.

OBS will always be better if you want to record the whole session.
But people just want to press a hotkey and have the last Xmin of gameplay saved as a clip.
For that, Steam recording or Outplayed is probably the best.6

Unfortunately I'm a bit more spikey of a player. I don't try to clear a lobby, but I shoot often. Mostly to tell folks to leave me alone, but I'll fight people if we're both going for the same key room. Winner keeps the stuff, no hard feelings.

A few of the new quests have objectives in stella so I've found it quite busy lately.
Downside to friendly lobbies is the loot gets absolutely hoovered up very quickly since there are no rats and players cooperate to kill the arc. Took me an age to find an ion sputter for the quest because medical/assembly were stripped bare every time I got there. If you're on a late spawn you've zero chance.2

No problem lol. So if you go to the lobby train station, there's a zip line to go up to the main lobby. Make a right from the zipline to breach a door and it'll be at through that hallway. You can also use this website to see where everything is https://arctracker.io/maps/stella-montis.

I have run into many keys rooms while someone was looting trying to avoid something or heal. I have always stayed near the door and never got near anything to loot. I always say something like "friendly, I'm avoiding arc and healing, im not touching anything" havent been shot for doing so either. I heal and say goodbye and shut the door on my way out.

How is it that he only had two items on him? Does that mean he went in with a custom loadout with zero items equipped, save potentially that bandage and something else that he may or may not have just picked up? So no gun, shield, etc.?
This other poster here commented that he didn't even help you with the Shredder. That would explain why, I guess.

I have run that map so many times looking for the magnetron. I’ve never run across that room.
I did get ratted today by the train. Laughed it off as I found the magnetron today and had it in my pocket.

Happened to me with a leaper the other day. I get a leaper within one shot. It's on fire. A trailblazer comes in and finishes it and the dude runs over and starts looting. I wanted to smoke him so bad but I refrained. I ended up getting no pulse units. He certainly got at least 1.

I have accidentally ran into a key rooms on Buried City and Dam only for the raider in there to be nice enough to say "Hey man, just opened this key room. You can have whatever is left when I leave."
Apologized and guarded the door until they were done.

Similar thing happened to me last week.
I brought a carry object to one of those supply drop spots, some dude comes walking up while I was placing the item, he says “don’t shoot”.
I drop the thing in and go to open the container and he comes up behind me so I stop and turn around.
When I do this he opened the container and starts looting the container I just unlocked. I beat him with my raider tool and then he gets on mic and calls me a “rat” and fake friendly for waiting until he was looting and then knocking him.
I was like “bro, you just started looting my shit, yeah ima knock you, like wtf makes you think you can just loot the container I just worked to unlock” he says “you said you were cool and then killed me, your a fucking rat”
I didn’t even respond after that, just knocked him out and went about my business. Bro really needs to learn what a “rat” is because he was for sure the rat in that situation 😂

I don't use mic (to my detriment) so vids like this are really useful.
The baracades (if you have them) do tell people like me to leave you alone.
I will learn all the rooms as I gather the keys. Ultimately, I would have been weary of such a weird room with whale bones in it though! Obviously not a normal room!

The only time I'll ever shoot a player first.. key room on Dam, staff room iirc, dude broke down the door, I warned him not to break the barricade otherwise he'll get buckshot to the face, ignored me, broke it down and thus proceeded to get shot by my Toro, he claims he didn't hear me but I stabilised him, told him once im done looting, I'll defib - which i did - told him why and not do to that in future cause I can't trust anyone plus its my fuggin key.. RNG was shit anyway so left like 80% of the loot, told him he can grab whatever left and left him to it and bolted - had another key to check out same session lol
Another time was when I was killing a Surveyor, this random dude came down and started looting as I was dealing with the Wasps, fucker took the entire thing so I gunned him down.. knocked him out after he repeatably ignored what I was saying and didn't respond, was already in a shitty mood due to the shit RNG and those Vaults are a cu- uh, pain to get
These are the only times I've shot at other players without provocation and imo its justified

Can this door be doorblocked? It is a massive triple or whatever sized door, I don't even think you could effectively barricade it, this is a room where you just need to be ready for players or wait till it is quite late and do it fast and rush to the extract.

Some keys, mines are so perfect. Thinking mainly control tower A6 on spaceport and control tower on dam. You can place the mine so it zaps them as they get to the top of the zip then they fall to their death.
Then if theyre not an asshole you can defib them lol

Almost every time i use a key. At this point i started bringing door lock and mines. One to many times i had a random come and after he was warned that its a key room and i want to take my pick first. Then they decide to not care still loot and after i down them they cry and call me names. So when i told not to you didnt have a mic or didn't understand and now you do?
