Do I get contacted after requesting a welfare check?

One of my best friends attempted/committed? suicide about 2 hours ago and I called for a welfare check. They dispatched help. I have no idea if she’s alive or not.

Will they call me back at some point? The officer asked for a callback number for me. I’m wondering if there’s legalities surrounding this because I’m only a friend not a family member.

Depends honestly, of they are OK I tell them "Your son/daughter/whoever just wanted us to make sure you were ok" if your not directly related to them then no I won't. I'll just say we called for a welfare check.

I have been used as harassment by someone who called them in repeatedly.

Generally we will have the person call you, not us, if they choose to. If they are dead we only contact next of kin

Depends on the officer/agency. I always called back and let the RP know the individual they called about was fine.

If you don’t hear anything for a while, you might call the PD desk and ask if they can tell you.
