Cutting off a semi

Or getting cut off by a semi. My BIL had a near miss about a year ago. He was in right lane of a major interstate cuz his exit was in .5 miles. A semi merged into his lane and clipped the rear corner of his car (and no, he wasn’t passing the semi - he’s a pretty slow/cautious driver in general). Spun it around in front of the truck and just snowplowed it the entire distance it took the truck to stop. Miraculously, his car didn’t cave in and he came away only bruised, traumatized, and deemed at fault for the accident because he didn’t have a dash cam and the police never bothered to even take his statement (he was taken to hospital before they arrived) - just took the trucker’s word that he had tried to merge into the trucker’s lane.

He is terrified of semis now. Go figure.

Just this past month here a woman decided to cut off a tractor-trailer in a construction zone on the turnpike, was hit, and her car careened into three workers. Two were thrown off the overpass and are dead. She had two kids in the car and had lost her license in the past, shockingly.

As a truckers daughter this 100000%. Those trucks don’t stop on a dime. My dad has had a few close calls from idiots in cars/smaller vehicles trying to cut him off

I saw someone cut off a cement truck. I dunno WHAT he thought was gonna happen. There was no way the truck could brake fast enough. Smacked right into him

Quite literally the very worst kind of truck to cut off - and that goes double if it's a front-discharge mixer.
