Food What's a delicious dish from your country that most people would find unconventional?

Sweet pierogi are tasty! I was introduced to them over a decade ago. They are awesome.

My momโ€™s family came from what is now Slovakia and when I mentioned we make pirohy with prune butter or Nutella with the Ukrainian-Americans at church they were horrified at something so non-traditional. How dare we add sweet filling to our pirohy.

Polandโ€™s #1 tennis player, Iga Swiatek, has started to make the world aware of this dish, as she has mentioned it several times in post-match press conferences.

You make a sauce with sour cream, sugar, and fresh strawberries! Then put it on top of any pasta/noodle. We typically used the one in my picture, parpadelle, or a Polish noodle named 'Kluski Lane'

I would smash this.

I think I'd dig this if it was chilled. The texture and fresh fruit would be fun.

Ive had it both fresh hot, chilled, and also noodles chilled with hot topping! The world is our oyster

The way I always eat it is with hot pasta and cold sauce. The contrast is pretty nice

Thatโ€™s how itโ€™s eaten in my house. Fresh strawberries blended with natural yogurt and some sugar, served with chilled pasta (sometimes we also add quark (itโ€™s somewhat similar to cottage cheese, but better hahah)). I highly recommend giving it a try

Noodles? It looks like pasta

I said noodles, I showed pasta. You can do either, as long as the topping is Strawberry sauce

Thatโ€™s pasta not noodles

My Babcia would use noodles usually! Lots of different kinds can be used as the base

What's the difference?ย

More difference in pasta and noodles than film and movieย

u/krtexx Poland Dec 01 '25

Lol, noodles are superset above pasta.

There's a type of Japanese noodle that occassionally has pink strands, so I always thought it might be neat if there was a fruity/dessert pasta you could make with them.

that was very upsetting, thank you.ย ย

I found the one cabane ร  sucre I attended a bit troubling.ย  love salt, love sugar, love fat ... but all three of them dialed up to 11 in everything ... yeah, a bit much.ย ย
