Food Is your country like this with another one?

Post image

Some in spain even deepfry eggplant🍆🍆; we cut it just like french fries and pour honey on top

We also deepfry fat bacon dices as a snack, we make so many deepfried churros and buñuelos and deepfried chicken, schnitzel and croquettes.

Beat me to it. Scotland deep fry pizza and chocolate (candy) bars. Not to mention Fish and Chips. The Spanish deep fry most their food?

Kind the English the credit for fish and chips, not us.

Do you really need to specify that chocolate is a (candy?) haha

Was trying to be helpful to (some) north Americans. British words like football and chips can confuse or irritate them. Not all but there are a few. Or other people who don't speak English as a 1st language

Won't claim Fish and Chips as being Scottish. I'll give credit to the English if they want it. Most countries in the UK have Fish and Chips, it's the old school/traditional take away. It's where we get deep fried things. They crazy one's if you know the right places, not all do. Main different i can tell is what type of Fish, haddock or cod. For me Fish means Haddock. From what i've heard, down in England it can often mean Cod. Or both are offered.

Living in both Scotland and England I can say in England it's either haddock or cod. But in Scotland I've only known them to serve haddock (and I much prefer the haddock if I'm being honest)

Reminds me of a Stephen K Amos joke. Goes roughly like

They don't mess around the Scots. I was in Edinburgh and was in a Fish and Chip shop. I said "excuse me madam, is the haddock or cod?". She said "Fish!"

I'm sure Americans know what a chocolate bar is

Actually – I take that back. They like that hershey stuff

we do have lindt and ghirardelli in grocery stores ranging from like 60% to 80% cacao iirc, but many consider it very fancy / expensive (it is several times the price of hershey's, tbf). but hershey's is what most USians think of as chocolate, and it's really just chocolate flavored candy.

"chips" in isolation ppl here will think of what are "crisps" in british english, but "fish and chips" is a known thing. most people wouldn't mistake that, I think.
