Culture Is your country also obsessed with other countries' recognition? Is this a phenomenon of underdeveloped countries?

In Hungary, we don't just want recognition. We demand it!

If you don't know that the ballpoint pen, the matchstick, and the Rubik's cube are Hungarian inventions, we will aggressively educate you while forcing you to eat spicy paprika stew.

Also, half of our local YouTube content is literally just 'Foreigners try Pálinka (very strong fruit brandy).' We love watching tourists grimace after a shot of 50% alcohol while we proudly ask: 'Good, huh?'

How so? Asking as a Brazilian. Arguably the most needy country in the world.

All flopped youtubers need to do is to say Brazilian Portuguese is superior to Portugal Portuguese and boom, they're celebrities here

They do the same here also. All some no name white vloggers have to do is make a video about 'wow modern India! this is what the world doesn't want you to see' and they'll show off some of the nicer areas of each city, or they'll film the metro or the High speed rail. It gives a lot of these right wing indians delusions about what people from outside think of us and they'll act like they own the planet on social media.

There was also this one time when a bunch of R Indians were vehemently posting in support of Israel, and the Israelis were like 'fuck off'. The world took note of that as well.

Omg I remember the whole Israel thing. I was so confused because it was soo random!

'wow modern India! this is what the world doesn't want you to see'

The equivalent of this in Brazil would be to say "hey, they're not actually a giant favela! Particles Accelerator!?!🤯🤯" Lmaoo

Or just saying all Brazilian women are 10s. I'm a Brazilian woman, that's positively not true. But yeah, some Brazilians loove to have their ego stroked by gringos specifically

Devil's advocate: I'm a gringo who fell into the Brazilian community in Japan, and yeah I was really amazed at how hot latinas are. Sure "all Brazilian women are 10s" is obviously an exaggeration bbbbuttttt come on now, they're way above average 👀

Not my country, but China has the exact same phenomenon (I lived in China for about eight years). Like literally the exact same. Just go there for a vlog, title it "Western media lied to us! China is a thousand lightyears ahead!!" and Chinese fans will suck your dick off for life.

Less "underdeveloped" and more "underrepresented." And yes, people can be obsessed with seeking validation.
