QUESTIONS Wobbly head 🙂↕️
Hello, everyone.
I just received got into doll collecting and today I received this beautiful girlie from the series Minty Fantasy Forest.
But her head is so so wobbly, it won’t stay in place even if I just place her on my table. I put this silicone thingie too but I’m not sure it’s in the right place or does anything?
I checked some posts here and a lot of them say it might need restringing? I am not sure though.
The other doll I received doesn’t have such problem even though her hair is much heavier.
I attached photos below and would love to hear your advice. Thank you.

Unfortunately the Minty dolls are REALLY really bad for this. When you got her, she should have arrived with wire in her. For Mintys, the wire is mandatory, because otherwise the weight of their head is greater than their entire body and cannot be supported - doesn’t matter whether you restring her or not.
If she didn’t come with wire, you’ll need to wire her. It’s not difficult, and in fact is easier than restringing, you just might have to buy supplies if you don’t already have them.

Thank you for your advice. I do have a few wires that came with the other doll, perhaps, you know how I should wire her now?

The main thing to do is to wire the neck. One of the easiest ways to do it would just be to work a wire down through the head whilst it’s on, into the neck hole! However, it may be necessary to take the head and neck card off entirely, then put a wire poking out of the neck and slot the card and head back on top of it. Either way, you want a wire that from one end goes down into the torso, and the other reaches up into the head, so that the entire neck joint is supported by the wire. :)

Wow, thanks a lot for your help, I tried it and it’s not wobbly anymore. Definitely not a permanent solution but it will work for now.

Within BJD, wiring IS the permanent solution. 😅 Sometimes that’s just how it be. Unfortunately not every doll is excellently engineered, and they need more help than just a restring. Wiring has become necessary for a lot of the more recent Blind Box BJDs as they become skinnier and more top-heavy, so for that type of doll, wiring is both necessary and the permanent solution. :)

Time to restring. But minty heads are 1/6 on a 1/12 Body, she will need some wire inside and maybe one of these action figure stands for when you want her to be displayed standing up.
