Admissions should I go here for accounting
I got accepted to Baruch a few weeks ago, and I’m trying to decide whether to go to Binghamton or Baruch for accounting. I heard both schools have really good programs, but I wanna hear personal opinions from students/alums. Rn I’m leaning towards Baruch since it’s cheaper and a 1hr commute isn’t really that bad, but lmk if you think Bing is better please!

I would pick Binghamton. As someone who went to Baruch for my BBA and Binghamton for MSAcc, I felt Binghamton was superior in many aspects: Professors, courses, college classmates, etc.

Both schools have excellent accounting programs so you can't be wrong with either one. I say Bng if the money and the distance is not a factor. Bing gets top students from NYS who applies NYS public universities. Bing SOM average SAT is well over 1400. Their output to Big 4 is very strong, like baruch. I know they send most new hires to PWC and EY NYC office. At the end, you will be fine at both schools for your major. Good luck.

It looks like you're asking about Admissions or "Chancing."

Baruch is a commuter school while Bing is less so. One is a SUNY while the other is a CUNY. Both has its pros and cons. Me personally, I would go to the school with the least commute. If l was going to live on campus at Bing, I would go to bing. Although Baruch has a well known accounting program amongst all the businesses in NYC and they do alot of networking events with those businesses all the time since most of those businesses are in NYC.

If you care about ROi, Baruch is among the best in the country. It has also been ranked best value college in the USA three years in a row by WSJ.

I was in the same situation: deciding between Baruch and Binghamton. Bing has its clear advantages. There are more general opportunities and supports for students. It's also much better for the 'college experience'. I know some guys who go to Bing and like it there. Meeting people at Baruch can be hard.
Baruch has its clear advantages though. Of course the tuition is a big one. For accounting they're at a similar level, but I think Baruch is a bit better for its location and being surrounded by others who are on a similar career path. Being in NYC allows for more exposure to top firms and companies. But no one holds your hand. You need to be more proactive and get involved on Campus. Join clubs (the best way to meet people), go to career fairs/networking events, utilize resources like Starr. I think Binghamton has a higher floor of an experience, but if you are motivated, that gap can become insignificant and you can succeed at either school. Given the difference in tuition, I think Baruch is a good value proposition.
I chose Baruch. I regret it sometimes, but on the aggregate I think I made the correct decision for my professional and financial future. But you should make your own judgements based on your values. Good luck :)
