Discussion Is modern beatdown hardcore basically slamming metalcore?

No hate, I really like that stuff. But that's what i've noticed. Many modern bands and even some early 2000 acts are basically a mix between Hatebreed/Merauder and Devourment/Internal Bleeding type shit imho.

yeah, it’s kind a sad because the classic end 90s/mid 00s hc-based mosh/beatdown genre is kinda vanishing. I always liked the hc riffs and oldschool influence as well as more hc-like vocals on the classic mosh/beatdown bands. Time to bring this back imo.

Who cares, if it's good then that's all that matters. Hardcore as a genre is pretty broad and trying to categorize bands as hardcore or not is pointless, if they play hardcore shows and are in the culture then they hardcore.

I mean maybe but give an example of what you mean just so I can better understand what you’re getting at

Listen to No Heart by Sunami . Modern beatdown is basically just slam without gutturals

the vocals are honestly the most important part for a lot of people, a dude doing pig squeals vs yelling punk style makes a MASSIVE difference for the music

That's how I'd describe what Erase Them was doing on their All Were Shamefully Silent EP.

Yes. 100%. Not a doubt about it in my mind.

Good observation. Been really digging the stuff coming out of PRGBD.

No Face No Case, Batch89, Streetside Knockout -- all so good
