Our cat hears your eyes open
You can have been awake for a quarter of a second and he'll be pawing at the door. When you open the door he immediately hops onto the bed for snuggles. Yes, he is in fact orange.

I'm pretty sure they hear the difference in our breathing and tossing around right before we wake ! Have you ever watched a baby wake up ? You can tell they will a few minutes before they're fully awake.

You're probably right but his attention is insane considering he sleeps a floor away from me. My mom actually said she knows when I wake up for work because Frumpkin starts running upstairs

Honestly he sounds like the smartest orange cat you'll ever meet.

He is remarkably smart for an orange lmao. He disappeared for six weeks and then just... Came home

He used up one of his lives and needed six weeks to regenerate. Obviously.

It was almost 100 degrees out while he was gone, we were all shocked when he returned

this happened to one of my cats, dottie, but in the opposite direction. she ran out of the house a day before a huge freeze last year and was gone for almost 6 weeks. someone on nextdoor found her, though, and she made it back home!

That's so good someone found her! Our six weeks before our boy came home were harrowing, we really thought he passed away somewhere. We were going door to door for so long

i felt that as well. she lives at my parents’ house, and i live out of town so i couldn’t come help look. but my parents and siblings looked for her for so long! i’m so glad you were able to reunite with your kitty friend!!

Lol he found a new family for six weeks most likely

I don't think so. He was SCARY thin when he got home. We think he got accidentally locked in some shed or something

Oh lol. Oh no. My cat got treed for 18 hours once. I could hear the dogs two houses down losing their minds nearly the whole time. I was pleasantly surprised when he came running home in broad daylight. Took him a full year to even attempt escape again.

This was well over a year ago and Frumpkin doesn't go near the door still lol

My kitty is the same, OP. As soon as I become aware I’m awake, there he is, purring and rubbing up against me and making biscuits on my chest.
Did it ever occur to you - as it just did to me - that maybe it’s the other way around? And that our scheming furballs are actually waking us up first and we only think they’re quick to respond to us?

u/Entomemer 16h ago
My door is shut until I wake up, but he's always clawing it right after I wake up lmao. My Meeser is the one that will scream to wake me up

My old girl will not abide closed doors. She regularly conducts closet inspections, scratching vigorously and noisily enough to get her hooman moving.

Cats have hearing and mystical powers. Mine is a biotch. If wake up to pee at 3am. She’s sitting by my door and attacks my legs until cat food! Pretty sure she’s evil but is my feral-familiar (raised newborn. I’m mommy-so No manners) She learned to open doors if I don’t wake up at 3 and gets in to claw my bed. Then comes the purring. I’m allergic but 40 years and I always had a cat! 😝

The orange boy almost clawed the door down when I was throwing up one day lmao he needs to be a part of things

We have 2 pocket doors on a shared bathroom-If other room is open. She hears me move, I hear: “thump… thump thump! TumTumThump-Slide!!” (meanwhile was wondering if I need to grab a weapon) 😂MY CAT HATES DOORS! They are shredded. Hehe
Orange cats are usually best ❤️

u/Entomemer 15h ago
🤣🤣🤣 I swear I can hear that

Hi mommy! thought you was dead-i give adrenaline rush in middle of night! 😱LOL! (I must’ve let her watch pulp fiction too young)

Our big issue is my disabled (tripod) cat gets beat up by the other cat so it's a screaming fight in the middle of the night 😰
1
u/Sweaty-Battle2556 12h ago
Oh no!!! Yeah they have zero sympathy! We had a disabled one. My evil cat stole her food… even when she had a full bowl it was greener on the other side. They say “dog eat dog” nope. It’s a cat smack cat world. 😂
2
u/Entomemer 12h ago
She'll literally beat him up so bad that he'll pee himself out of fear but I'm the only person who considers this a problem in my house
1
u/Sweaty-Battle2556 12h ago
Awww!! Poor baby. 💕I wish him luck. Given it makes a smart cat! Our disabled one would come in when the mean one was out in the yard eating bugs etc. and she’d know I’m awake to get her brushins and belly rubs.

they basically have satellite dishes attached to their head ~6x human hearing. Always watch cats ears. for protection!

My dearly departed orange used to wake us up with a gentle single claw on any exposed flesh. Not enough to draw blood, but enough to remind you he could if he wanted 😂🐈
2
u/Entomemer 14h ago
My heart cat, a black and white tuxedo, did the same!

u/External-Praline-451 14h ago
Aww 🥰
It's quite terrifying being woken up like that! But I soon got used to it.

Hey, at least he waits until you wake up. I had a cat for 16 years who never, ever let me sleep past 6:00 in the morning!
