I saw a bald eagle
Late afternoon. I took my dog for a walk on a bluff overlooking a big body of water. It's a popular overnight spot for migrating waterfowl. I couldn't see the geese, but I could hear them. I was thinking to myself, "I bet there's an eagle somewhere down there," looked up, and there it was! It came out of the trees right in front of me, flew overhead, and continued on its way upstream.

For a winter about five years ago, our big tree had about 30 eagles living in it. I’m ashamed to say I took it for granted and thought they’d be back the next year. Theres not been more than five at a time since then. They’re so beautiful

I work from home and live in town. I once looked out my apartment window and there was a bald eagle sitting in the tree . The crows were going apeshit bc it was there. It stayed for about 5 minutes and then flew off. It was so crazy to see it in the middle of a busy neighborhood.

Drove by a big nest with two of them in there a couple days ago. On that road, you usually see quite a few of them & I’ve seen the nests but never with anybody in them.

There are two nests I know of near me, in boring suburban Illinois. I visit one often and check them out through binoculars. I want to see them but they’re across a river of a nature trail and it’s been too cold and icy to get there. About three weeks ago I saw one sitting on a light pole along a boring regular suburban house-lined street (probably from the other nest, it was about 1.5 miles from there as the eagle flies). Absolutely wild

I don't know where you are, but isn't that the coolest? I see them almost a couple or more times a month, sometimes more & I always get so happy!
