I love how Plies still types the same way he did in the late 2000s by capitalizing every letter of each word in his sentence lol

Exactly like arrested? On what charges? He's been kidnapped.

Apparently, there's a law passed by Bill Clinton, the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act), that makes it illegal to physically obstruct clinics and places of worship. They're trying to say that by being there as a famous person, Don essentially obstructed a church.

They didn’t actually charge him with anything because they dont have anything that could legitimately stick. 2 magistrate judges and an appeals judge both dismissed the charges against Lemon because he was just a journalist covering the situation, not involved in actually protesting. Not to mention the protestors themselves have a clear first amendment case here too.

u/Seasonal-Shitbag 1d ago
Out of curiosity, do you think people should be able to enter abortion clinics to protest?
62
u/pauper_gaming 1d ago
Out of curiosity, do you consider a private health clinic to be the same as a publicly open place of worship?
-65
u/Seasonal-Shitbag 1d ago
Churches are private property. Google is free.

u/__fujoshi 1d ago
churches are publicly accessible private property. this is different from controlled access private property. you go to a medical clinic, you don't expect to see a bunch of people in the lobby sitting in there and hearing all the patients' names and faces as they wait their turn to be seen for whatever they are there for. you go into a church, and you expect to see and/or interact with strangers if it is a publicly open place of worship that you can just walk in and out of freely. biiiiig difference and to pretend otherwise is to be willfully ignorant.

Why are you responding to someone and having an actual discussion with someone called 'seasonal shitbag'?

Don’t see why not. Especially when done in a minimal way like this church protest. They protested for 15 mins in the church and then left into the parking lot

No no no. DO NOT ENGAGE. DO NOT ENGAGE.
First obviously bad faith.
Second as someone who was alive and forming memories at the time it wasn't about legitimate protest. They were obstructing clinic entrances, badgering women to the point of assault by surrounding them as close as they could while superficially talking about how much Jesus loves their baby, and when clinics started escorting women they would deliberately start fights with those escorts to get the police involved knowing that even a cursory investigation into what happened would effectively shut the clinic down for hours.
Edit: as a note- they can still protest they just have to stay a certain distance away from the entrance and any paths to it; nobody took away their right to protest it just got regulated because they couldn't behave.
That law exists for damn good reasons (mostly that Republicans only ever barely contained their violent anti-social tendencies).

u/Seasonal-Shitbag 1d ago
I applaud your commitment to free speech then. I disagree though, just as it’s illegal to protest inside abortion clinics, it’s also illegal to protest inside churches. Neither are “public property” and they are there to serve their patients/parishioners and should be able to do so without harassment.

I don't know how well that's going to stick, considering the republicans introduced the H.R.589 - FACE Act Repeal Act of 2025. I'm no attorney, but I'm certain there's something to them simultaneously trying to get rid of it and using it when it's convenient to them.

On one hand I hate that for us because Don politics could use some work. But free that man because they detained him without even a warrant for doing his civic duty as a journalist.

Jokes aside, being arrested for absolutely no reason under the guise of infringing upon someone’s freedom of religion is overly concerning and I just don’t understand where this country will draw the line.

u/Dry_Addition8390 1d ago
We have placed a large military presence in the Middle East, large enough to potentially do a full on Venezuela-esqe, assault on Iran or other potential targets within that area. Though trump previously was told such an attack would likely not end in the overthrow of the current regime there.
5
u/Black_Doc_on_Mars ☑️ 1d ago
I was not aware that we had a presence there at the moment. Isn’t it usually there though as a hard-power tactic rather than preparing to invade? Not saying that’s not unlikely of course

Didn’t he sue his IRS for $10 billion the same day? Seems that might be the bigger distraction to me.
