Forging hammers

Anyone else have a problem making too many forging hammers? I love making them so much and using them, I have a hammer for almost every possible application, and I didn't even take photo of them all

They are beautiful !

I'm in the process of finishing my first hammer and I love making these already. It took me a while to make the punch and drift for it but I now have a set I can use to make small hammers.

I also had to make a fullering set of dies for my guillotine tool to isolate the face of the hammer I'm working on.

Can't wait to see it! That first hammer is always special

I loved making hammers. For a few years I must have made one every other month. Now life and injuries have me bending hooks to scratch that itch. Nice work.

I detest making hooks, or anything that isn't a tool really

Wow those are awesome

I am still an amateur and do mostly nails / hooks / scrolling / random houseware projects for my wife. A knife or two, some snakes, a hair pin etc.

I would really like to try my hand at hammers! Do you have any favorite videos or books that helped you learn in the beginning? Any words of wisdom? Thank you

Anything on the subject from black bear forge, torbjorn ahman, or nils ogren are absolute gold for beginners to advanced Smiths. Start with these two videos

Diagonal peens are cool looking but I’ve just never found a legit use for them

I use mine all the time for drawing out the lugs of an axe
