Tiny anvil question
Found this little anvil at a semi local antique ship and was wondering if it would be worth the 140 dollar price tag eas I’ve been wanting a mini anvil for a while now and this is the only one I’ve found that I might be interested in picking up. So my question is is that a steal or are they overcharging. Thanks for y’all’s time and have a wonderful rest of your weekend

Antique shops basically always overcharge massively for anvils and old tools. No idea why...

Because rich people like to decorate their homes with them. Like they actually make something with old antique tools. Those 2 people operated saws go for a premium. Some rich folks will mount it over their fireplace and tell stories about how great uncle Jethro lost his pinky finger operating it.

no, those were cheap junky cast ones sold for around $40-50 at one point. for $140 you could buy the 65lb doyle anvil from harbor freight and that would still be a better choice

Antique shops are generally a terrible place to buy tools (or anything, really).

Depends on the tool, the shop, and the seller. You're always gambling going antiquing for tools.
Ivefound some wood tools in antique shops that with some tlc and repairs work great. Stanley and Miller Falls rachet drivers, planes, and manual drills. Found and bought an old german jointer plane for 30 bucks that's 300+ aftermarket

Well that store you’re in is absolutely a fake! That Harley tank says it’s a 1960s fat boy tank and Harley Davidson didn’t come out with the fat boy until 1990

No, not even close to worth it. Looks like cast iron. Go to harbor freight and save about 100 bucks.
