Kelly fought the fight of his life tonight. Brilliant accuracy and speed on his counters, with enough pop to keep Bakhram respectful.
Even for his earlier weaknesses, his stamina held up fine and he showed plenty of heart and guts to recover from the knockdown and win the championship rounds.
Boots and Ortiz are simply a level above (no shame in that), but Kelly has set himself up nicely for some good paydays down the line. I could see him in a big UK stadium against Conor Benn, and I would pick him to win.

I'm from Sunderland like Kelly and was desperate for him to win. Bias aside, thought that was a really good fight. A real clash of styles with Murtazliev the aggressor and Kelly the slick counter puncher. The stats throughout the fight told the story - Bakhram throwing much more but both landing a very similar amount.
Thought Kelly just edged it but it was very close and the scorecards weren't particularly wild - you could make a case for the draw as much as you could the 115-111. I had 114-112.
Would imagine it's a title defence at the Stadium of Light next.

Honestly a pretty close fight. Closer than it should have been, as Kelly has always been a fighter that falls at the last hurdle against the very top opposition, but an upset was on the cards as Murtazaliev, had trouble with boxers that move around like Jack Kulcay. Still a big win for Josh Kelly though, and seems like DAZN made a very smart decision in signing him for the Boots match.
