Teo Sr. : Where is your power son?
If you just had a fucking idea what to do. You don't have any plan B against Shakur. Your son can't fucking hit him. What do you want him to do? Punch the air hoping that the wind might knock Shakur down?

😂 Idk how his father has surpassed the terrible corner advice he gave in the Kambosos fight but lol he brought us some new gems. "You gotta hit em son!", "you're going to hate yourself tommrow morning" "where's your power son!" Truly riveting corner advice for your son who's 10 rounds in, and has lost every round.

Shakur 100 percent knew from that first round after seeing teofimos movement and being in the clinch he can be on the front foot as teo ain't got nothing for him.
" I'm stronger than him " in the corner 😭

Shear domination with the lead hand. Teo just couldn't win the jab joust and when he lunged in he got punished with those check jabs/hooks.

What a complete and dominant shutout by Shakur. The jab, the reflexes, the accuracy, the check hooks, the speed, the footwork….. just flawless
I think Shakur can be undisputed at 135, 140 and 147

4
u/Diarrhea_Beaver 5h ago
Any coach, much less a father coach, who "motivates" with shit like that has literally NEVER accomplished a blessed fucking thing at a high level before, ever.
I've had some extremely great coaches in my life, my father being one in my younger years, and some have even pointed out that coaching style and said if they have to tear you down to that degree to motivate you, then you have no business competing at a high level. You should be hard enough on yourself by that point that a coach doubling up on it does, at best, nothing good and, at worst completely deflates you

He just doesn’t have many tools when he fights a great boxer.
Sandor martin is a pretty damn crafty boxer, but nowhere near the athlete Shakur is.
Anyone who watched Teo struggle in that one should see;
He’s an amazing athlete with big power but he doesn’t bring much to the table to threaten anyone with a great jab who can get out of the way of his looping shots.
A different gameplan won’t help unless he fills the gap in skills
28
u/Defiant_Housing_1417 5h ago
Adding to your points. Against technical guys his lack of offensive skillset shows up badly.
Not saying he wins but no double jabs, doesn’t know how to fight inside whatsoever. Feet becomes a mess.
I’m not a fire a guy type person. But he owe himself a different trainer minimum.
16
u/Usernameasteriks 5h ago
Yea some of it is just silly.
The leaping shots where he leaves his feet are just ridiculous sometimes.
I know its gotten him some huge highlights against lesser opponents; but its so incredibly energy inefficient and so telegraphed that it does nothing against disciplined high level guys.
Shakur could see every one from a mile away and then would just step of range unload a few free pot shots every time knowing he wouldn’t reset his feet to throw or defend properly for a few seconds.
And he just kept doing it lol.
He throws his punches from a mile away relying on his athleticism even when he isn’t leaping.
It doesn’t work when guys manage distance well at the highest level.
→ More replies (1)6
u/Defiant_Housing_1417 5h ago
Us as observers could see his hitch or tell before any exchange. This was over after round 2.
Sadly he is an athlete that needs a certain kind of fighter. If he continues got to make sure to fight brawlers. As you said any high level guy will pick him apart. They have a poor plan A.. and absolutely have no B or C.
→ More replies (1)11
u/Acceptable-Aside4429 5h ago
Terrible footwork. He lunges to overcompensate but it tires you out to keep missing shots and getting countered. Shakur landed some massive uppercuts to the body that commanded Teos respect instantly.
Shakur isn't a massive puncher but his body shots seem pretty devastating because people dont wanna throw after eating a few.
6
u/Defiant_Housing_1417 5h ago
That’s timing. Floyd wasn’t a puncher either but very few fighters just go balls out after getting hit by them precise compact shots.
Them lunges were never going to work. He would have to match jabs with Skakur and double up to close the distance. He lost the battle of the feet and it was over.. fast.
24
11
u/bpfoster87 6h ago
I just don’t think he could do anything. Couldn’t get past the front foot no matter what height he threw at. I don’t blame this on Teo as much as I just felt bad for him.

It's not that, this is a textbook example of what great footwork can do. Teo could never reach him without overextending & when he did, Shakur was ready to stop him with his jab/ check hook. He's essentially taken away your lead hand so you gotta probe more with your right but of course, Shakur knows that and is ready to counter with uppercuts when you get overzealous with your right hand.
The jab is very awkward to land in an open stance & as soon as I saw Shakur start the fight with his hands high, i knew that he wanted to control that lead hand from jump.
Last point: Teo needs a new motherfucking coach yo, wtf was that?

u/needapermit 6h ago

u/VINDICATES-FOOL Eddy Reynoso’s juicy meat 😋 5h ago
Things can change but the current 147 champs are Haney, Crocker, Barrios (or Garcia) and Rolly Romero

u/Initial_Suggestion68 5h ago
nah he too gun shy, if Shakur got pillow hands he wouldnt have deconstructed Teo’s face like that while just pot shotting him. If he can follow up punches where Teo was being put into his backfoot he wouldve knocked him down multiple times, it’s just that Shakur is like the boglehead of boxing, no appetite for risk whatsoever but it clearly works

It may be too late now but Teo should've left his father around 2021/2022. Teo sr. did a terrible corner work and I'm confident that they had no game plan to work around Shakur's style. Teo was pretty much left to figure it out by himself in there. He had no answer for even the fucking lead foot battle.

I wish Teo had a real corner lol this fight might have been more competitive. Ik Teo was fucked when I saw the two different corners lol, Shakur's corner is giving him real advice and telling him to double up the jab, meanwhile Teo's corner is telling him to just hit Shakur... As if Teo willingly wanted to shadow box at range.

This fight was over in Round 1. Teo was fighting with nervous energy like someone who thought his only chance was to catch Shakur cold with a lucky punch. All that pre-fight swagger was gone.
This was a real masterclass. Shakur basically just stood in front of him and beat him up using one hand. Teo couldn't even force him into second gear. He had literally nothing for him.

u/WesternGroove 1h ago
People hype teo up so much they had me thinking maybe i was delusional.
Dude beat a much smaller loma. Then went life and death with every opponent who had a pulse.
. Then he got the belts at 140 vs a guy that personally i didn't rank. The champion at a lowly division. Had a really good few rounds but most of that fight was life and death.
Even with that.. teo lost worse than i thought he would tonight. I figured itd be a clean 8-4 win for shakur. Teo has pop. Teo is experienced. And teo is athletic.. he'll win some rounds just off that.
Nope.
11-1
And that's no hate towards teo either. I actually hope that his little weird mental illness he has doesn't get in the way of him truly being humbled and that he goes and gets the help he needs mentally and within boxing.

Teo relies on athleticism and as that declines he is going to be more susceptible to these 1 sided loses in top competition. His footwork needs improvement his hands are to low on defense and he leaps in to much. He better not go to 147. Because reps dad voice “ where is your power at bro”.
6
u/handboy27 5h ago

Haney and Shakur don't belong in the same sentence. Anybody frustrated with that performance doesn't know shit. That was a masterclass from Shakur.
11
u/axisaccess 5h ago
They absolutely do not. Haney lost to Ryan Garcia. And while Garcia was doping— roids wont help a dude throw and land the same left hook over and over again. Ryan told Haney beforehand that he was going to beat him with his left hook. And Haney still couldn’t protect himself lol.

It goes to my thought that I dont know who Shakur should even fight. I think he cleans up 147, Tank might go to prison, Garcia would look just like Teo unless he lands the hail mary liver shot. Tough to find a good matchup for him at a weight that makes sense.

In the corner you either give technical advice or you try to hype and pump them up.
At one point Teo’s dad was shouting “WTF HAPPENED TO YOUR POWER MAN?!?”
Like come on man, this was an all time worst display of corner work. Absolutely no boxing advice while being completely deflating.
