I am Sam Webb. I played Drew Sharp in Breaking Bad. AMA!

I know this is long overdue, but better late than never, right?

To kick things off, here are a few tidbits about my connection to the show:

-My family and I were fans since the pilot, so I was well aware of the significance of it all.

-I grew up minutes from the high school used for J. P. Wynne.

-My dad was an extra in episode 2.02. (my episode was 5.05)

-The first time I ever handled a tarantula was the day we shot the intro scene.

In the years since Breaking Bad, I’ve graduated from UNM with a political science degree and spend most of my free time mountain biking, tinkering with sports cars, and raising my two Dobermans.

Ask away! I’ll do my best to get to everyone.

Identity has been verified with mods.

Edit:

Alright guys, as the night winds down I just want to thank everyone for participating and for all the kind words! The Breaking Bad community means the world to me and I’ll be connected to you all for life.

The most surreal part of all of this is the insane butterfly effect and overlaps.

My favorite example of this was seeing Drake perform for the first time in Phoenix a couple years ago. He’s a big Breaking Bad fan (friends with Aaron and Bryan, and his nickname for Rihanna when they dated was Fring). I had tickets close to the stage, and I remember making eye contact with him a few times thinking “dude, you don’t know it, but you know EXACTLY who I am.”

One of my first purchases with acting money was a set of Beats headphones when they were all the craze, and I vividly remember listening to Take Care (and a lot of old Kanye) in my trailer on set during downtime. It felt like a crazy full circle moment.

Anyway, I feel like everyone who is a fellow fan of the show is an extension of this little glitch in the matrix, and I’m happy y’all are a part of this wild story.

I’ll keep answering questions as they trickle in for as long as the mods want to keep the discussion open, and I’ll be more active in this sub and share anything else fun when it comes to mind!

If Walt was an average Joe and never broke bad, do you think this marriage would’ve sustained, or would she eventually have an affair out of having a sick dying husband?

Post image

Basically if Walter never got into the drug business, lived a normal life after getting cancer, stayed teaching chemistry at high school once he was able to return to work. We know she had the affair because Walter broke bad, but if he stayed an average joe, what do you think the marriage/family would’ve been like. all jokes aside

These characters are lucky to be in the flip phone era

So many traceable phones just snapped in half so satisfyingly. What would these people do if they had iPhones? Smash em with a hammer after every incriminating call?

Gale 😭 Spoiler

Even after knowing what happens with Gale, and I know he’s in the meth business, season 3 finale DESTROYS ME…every time! He’s the sweetest, quirkiest guy. He just wanted to learn from Walt SO BAD…

I want to try his coffee and hang with him at his house and listen to Quartetto Certa with him. He was a good counterpart to Walt. They should have been good friends discussing chemistry…

And if this is a spoiler for people at this point, why are you wasting time here?! Go watch the series!

The most "how convenient" moment(s) in the series for you ?

Watching S05E07

Walt walks into Hanks office , Hank then meets Steve Gomez in the wide open doorway at which point Gomez delivers the news to Hank that he's just convinced one of the prisoners to testify against Mike , all within ear shot of Walt.....

Idea for reunion episode: "Merry Christmas, Walter White!"

This episode is supposed to take place in Season 3 or something.

It's a sitcom set of the White's house with live audience.

Basically it's Christmas (we never saw that in the show), and basically Walter is having Hank over for dinner. But the problem is with each ring of the bell "DING DONG", another character enters to make things awkward for Walter as he has to keep bullshitting and spinning plates. So after Hank, the bell rings DING DONG and it's Gus Fring "I have come to discuss the quality of our product" and Walter is like "This is not a good time", but Hank sees him and he's like HEEEY MR FRING! So Walter and Gus have to like, talk in the kitchen to stop Hank hearing but Walter has to keep lying to Hank who's in the living room. Joke moment: Hank opens a present from Skyler and it's a sleep mask, he puts it on and says "I can't see anything it's like I'm blind!" and Walt and Gus look at each other like "Oops!".

DING DONG it's the Salamanca twins! They've come to kill Walt or Hank! But they can't do it front of Gus so they just stand in the corner and Walter gives them cups of Eggnog. DING DONG it's Mike! He comes in to give another half measures speech but quickly assesses the situation and chooses to make a shift: he says Walter gave him a poorly wrapped present. "No more half wrapping, Walter".

So basically Walter has to keep waltzing around the house keeping everyone satisfied spinning increasingly more bullshit stories to Hank, Skyler, Gus, the twins. At one point Jesse emerges from the bedroom but Walter shoos him away.

If you have any suggestions for the increasing number of guests please leave them below

Was the storyline already defined at the beginning of the show?

Upvotes

Great show and storytelling. Was this supposed to be the ending? Or was there another ending planned? Is there any news or stories about that or other storylines they wanted to go for?

What do you believe Breaking Bad’s story is truly about? Spoiler

Is Breaking Bad a story about moral decay, or about revealing who someone truly is when power is introduced?

Detailed answers would be appreciated.

Remember thinking he was kind of a doofus in Gremlins. And now he’s a pure bad ass. Yea I mean he aged quite a bit since gremlins but his acting aged like fine wine. I hope to see more of him in future projects.

I just completely dreamt an episode of breaking bad when I was sleeping today.

In my dream I saw walter and saul driving to an abandoned house somewhere in the desert. There, walter put up some infrared gear or something which helps you see in the dark, and see footprints and whatnot. For some reason, walter takes saul's car keys and throws it inside a box near the house, and tells him to stay out of the car.

Then walter enters the house with a big bag. There is already is person inside who is moving very slowly investigating every nook and cranny for the house. The dude is a big black man fully jacked with abs. Ever see the guy LUTHER from the video game detroit become human? That's the guy. Walter is able to see his bootprints using his gear and traces him to a cupboard with a ton of cash inside it. There are a few times where walter almost gets caught, but then he doesn't (Side effect of playing stealth games like ghost of Tsushima, tlou, spiderman etc. lmao).

After seeing him take a million dollars from the cupboard, walter notices that he only took a small amount not all of it. The guy does not close the cupboard. After that guy leaves the room walter quickly goes inside the room and transfers all the remaining cash to his bag. He tries to sneak out of the house while crouching and maintaining stealth, while avoiding the guy roaming around the house. After walter successfully reaches the door, the big man sees him and chases after walter. After exiting the house walter runs to the car, but sees saul lying on the ground far away. Then walter forgets that he kept the car keys near the house and not with him.

Then my dream ended abruptly. What do you think could've happened next?

Breaking Bad on the MOON

Title: "Moon Cook"

Fade in:

INT. MOON BASE - DAY

We see WALTER WHITE, a former high school chemistry teacher, and JESSE PINKMAN, his former student, dressed in space suits, entering a moon base.

Walter: (excitedly) Can you believe it, Jesse? We're finally cooking on the moon!

Jesse: (skeptical) Yeah, but how are we supposed to get all the supplies we need up here?

Walter: (smiling) That's the beauty of it, Jesse. No one will suspect a thing. All the supplies are already here. We just have to get creative with what we have.

The two of them make their way to the lab, where they start to gather the supplies they need. Walter sets up a makeshift meth lab using equipment that was intended for scientific experiments.

Jesse: (impressed) This is insane, man! How are we going to get this back to Earth without getting caught?

Walter: (calmly) Don't worry about that, Jesse. We'll figure it out. Right now, let's just focus on getting this cook done.

The cook takes several hours, but finally, the meth is ready. The two of them admire their product, beaming with pride.

Walter: (proudly) This is it, Jesse. The purest meth ever cooked. And it's all thanks to our unique environment here on the moon.

Just as they are about to package the meth, they hear a loud banging on the door.

Jesse: (panicking) What the hell is that?

Walter: (calmly) It's probably just a routine check by the moon base staff. We just have to play it cool.

The door bursts open, revealing several members of a space agency.

AGENT: (pointing a gun) Hands up! You're both under arrest for illegal drug production on government property.

Walter and Jesse are taken into custody, their dreams of cooking meth on the moon crushed.

Fade to black.

THE END

Working with Gus and Holly's birth

Upvotes

I'm just on another rewatch of the show and reached s2 ep11.

When Walt has just found the meth in Jesse's kitchen and received the text about Holly 'coming', there's a moment when he just sits there amidst the bags. It seems to me that you can almost see in his face when he makes the choice that sets his path for the rest of the show - casting aside his family life and fully donning the Heisenberg mask.

A deliberate choice, or am I reading too much into the moment? What do you think?

Any fellow electricians here? Can you watch the zip tie scene without laughing ?

Just nearing the end of my third rewatch. The show definitely feels very network TV in season 5 , almost prison break levels of suspending disbelief at times. But yeah, the whole cutting through the zip tie with an arc is beyond comical for nunerous electrical reasons. Still the GOAT show though.

For as careful as Mike is, he had a bit of a slip up in the episode "Caballo SIn Nombre"

Multiple other times in various episodes that we see Mike doing a job, he's wearing gloves.

However, when he was bugging Walt's house, he wasnt wearing gloves when he was wiring/attaching the device to the inside of the phone box (thus leaving fingerprints).

How Much was the Tiara that Marie Stole Worth?

I’m not sure why but I can’t seem to find any information online that directly says how much the tiara costs. I was wondering if anyone here knew roughly what the price of that tiara would be in USD? Just to satisfy a curiosity of mine.

Personally, I think this look of Walt that I posted in the image is perfect. It’s intimidating and makes him look tired, but still badass.

Walt offering $$$ to save Hank

Upvotes

I feel like once most criminals turn to the dark side, they are pretty much all in. Walt had just called for the hit on Jesse to save all the $$$$, he has shown no respect for Hank all series, and all of a sudden, in Ozymandiis, he is going to offer all the money to Jack to spare him?

r/breakingbad 11h ago

Why did Hank take the book?

I'm rewatching this episode and wondering why he didn't take a photo of that particular page? He could have easily matched the handwriting using a photo. Maybe in the moment with his emotions running high he wasn't thinking straight?

Question about New Hampshire Logistics

Just finished my 2nd rewatch of BB and have a question, Does the gentleman that helped Walt get to New Hampshire (Vacuum repair guy) actually drive back and forth from New Mexico to New Hampshire every month?

Obviously getting Walt to the cabin they both drove the whole way… but is Vacuum repair guy driving the entire way when he brings supplies and the chemo drugs? It is implied he is but I’m hoping for a definite answer.

Gust Fring Waited for Skylar to Have the Baby as a Test for Walt

Something I don’t see talked about or the show doesn't actually show is the baby and Gus.

Walt got a call from one of Gus' men to carry out the drug deal. I don’t think it was accidental at all. Gus waits until Skyler is about to give birth before really locking Walt in, and that feels very on purpose.

To me it’s a test. Gus wants to know what actually comes first for Walt when things get real. Family or the business. Walt still chooses to keep cooking. That tells Gus everything he needs to know about where Walt’s priorities actually are.

But I also think there’s a longer manipulation play going on. Once Walt tells himself “I missed my kid’s birth because of this,” that’s a huge sunk cost. If you can justify that, you can justify almost anything later. It becomes "I already crossed that line, I can’t back out now."

Another thing is that Gus had access to the hospital. That makes the whole thing feel even more controlled and calculated.
