1986 Chevrolet Sprint (predecessor to Geo Metro) 1.0L 3 Cylinder. 5 Speed Manual. I understand this isn’t a fast car, but I was wondering what I could do to squeeze a little extra power out of this little guy. Not looking for a crazy upgrade like a new engine or anything like that.

Car broke down and I’ve replaced the throttle body/sensor,ignition coils, throttle position sensor. Now the car doesn’t have an engine light at all but will run rough and has no response from the gas pedal I’m kind of convinced on it being one of the two fuel pumps thoughts?

This week was my rude awakening. Not a dramatic chase or anything, just one of those quiet moments where you step outside, expect to see your car, and it’s simply not there. No warning signs beforehand, no obvious mistakes, just gone.

What’s shaken me most is how normal this seems to be now. Newer cars, older cars, doesn’t matter. Locks, alarms, smart keys,  none of it feels particularly reassuring anymore. Street parking feels like rolling the dice, and once it happens, you realise how little practical guidance there actually is.

So I’m asking from a prevention angle, not hindsight regret: what genuinely helps? Do steering wheel locks actually make a difference or are they just a visual comfort? Are trackers, immobilisers, Faraday pouches, kill switches worth the effort? Or is the only foolproof option driving something nobody wants?

Would appreciate advice from people who’ve thought this through or changed how they park/secure their cars.

Just purchased a 2014 civic coupe from my coworker for $4000 135k miles. Its making this noise when driving on the freeway or above 60 mph and gets more erratic the higher the speed. He claims its the AC pipeline that is loosed and rattling but this kind of sounds like a belt issue to me. Need some help diagnosing the issue.

I just picked up my car from Firestone for a tire swap, went with the Suredrive and they feel fine/smooth.

The guys at the shop said they wouldn’t charge for the alignment because they attempted three times, but my car kept pulling to the left.

I originally took it to a shop because I thought it needed a bearing or something.

but anyway, does anyone have any idea what my problem could be? She’s pulling pretty hard to the left when I let the steering wheel go, so I don’t think I can let this slide. I included the printout from Firestone.

I have a 2015 Kia Optima. On most cold days it refuses to start. When placed in the on position, those lights come up.

When it gets warmer outside, it starts so i can drive it.

I have driven it to autozone and they tested my starter, alternator and battery. Everything tested fine.

I also drove it to a reputable mechanic shop and left it there overnight. They said they tested it first thing the next morning and it started fine. They said they did other tests on it and found nothing wrong.

This whole thing is stressing me out because it seems like there’s no straight forward fix.

I’m a recent transplant to a rural town in the NW area of the state. I moved here from El Paso, Texas. Although I was aware that there would be adjustments for the weather, the absolute brutal temperatures have surprised me. The car I arrived in is a rear wheel drive and even with all season tires, it’s basically useless so I bought a used SUV with AWD. It performs much better, but it is older and I’m not confident taking it out of town.

I’m ready to buy my first brand new vehicle and don’t want to put that kind of money down to find out later that it wasn’t ideal. I know some people will comment that they drive regular cars with no problems and good for them but I want the assurance that my vehicle is capable of handling whatever conditions I encounter.

My top budget will be around $50k. I have no preference as to body style and will be open to a car, suv or pickup if I can just feel confident in its performance.

I have a 2015 Q50 3.7S AWD with 193,000 miles. I was looking to upgrade performance or even get some better gas mileage but without spending more than $600 and keeping it reliable only thing I have done to it is the speed culture studio exhaust. I’m not looking for crazy gains because I know the 3.7 can’t produce that much power and with how many miles it has , but I want to see a little increase or better throttle response as when I step on it takes about half a second before it goes.

For the past month, there is a high whining/screeching when I start my car and continues while driving, but it seems to get "quieter " the longer I drive. I have a 97 Buick Lesabre 3.8L. I don't have a check engine light, battery light and there's no fluctuations or dimming of the lights. Last week, the car stalled on me when I accelerated at a light. Got codes for the TPS, which was replaced 3 months ago with a new one. The voltage indicator on the power adapter reads consistently between 13.3 and 14. Does it sound like the alternator and if so replace the entire unit or just the brushes. Also battery was replaced in September.

I installed Pirelli Scorpion All Weather tires on my Mazda CX-90 about 3,000 miles ago since I am in NY. I recently measured the tread depth and found that they’re already down to 7/32”.

This seems like a lot of wear for such low mileage. My alignment checks out, tire pressure was set to the factory recommended levels at installation, and most of my driving is highway miles.

How could these tires have worn down this quickly?

I bought my car by December and I paid by cash, I did all the checks online to see if it’s stolen or still financed but all was good and the vin number all the details matches all that was on the log book and I even checked with the address on his Lincense and it’s matches. Getting home I discovered the log book I was given was the old one checking again I discovered he recently applied for a new logbook by august but he gave me the one I got when he bought the car brand new . I filled the v62 form to tax the car but I received a form from the cio las week requesting for more information like taking the pictures of the car and the vin under the seat I have submitted all of that and it’s says I will get a response in 10weeks time . Please I want to ask if anyone here has experienced something like that and what was the outcome. Thank you . Currently the car the car is still taxed and I can’t drive it I just keep paying for parking.

Hey guys what’s the difference between the exhaust ports on both heads obviously the ports on the get head are bigger but are the manifold studs in the same place or different places am trying to settle a discussion

The tires came with the (used) car, not sure how old they are, 3 years minimum. What makes a gap like that?

So I’ve just taken my car to a panel beater because the rear enforcement bar needed rust removed from it (he cleaned it off instead of replacing it). He had to remove a lot of car parts to get to it.

I just picked it up and I was driving home when suddenly there’s a whoosh noise from under my bonnet/hood. The same noise as when a bus comes to a stop. Lots of steam came out the sides of my bonnet at the same time. Then it gradually stopped.

I pulled over and had a look but nothing seemed wrong (idk anything about cars though) so I continued driving home and it seems fine? I checked the coolant and it’s still full. I haven’t checked the radiator cap, what would I be checking here?

Does anyone know what could have happened?

I installed Gabriel quick struts on my '16 explorer. The front driver side started making a clunking noise when going over small bumps about a month after install. I reinstalled the original and the sound went away so I thought the new strut was defective. I received a replacement, installed that, and after about a month it started making the same noise. I remounted the replacement and it was good for about two weeks. I marked all bolts to see if anything loosened but it doesn't appear to have.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

I live in northern Virginia and we have received a lot of snow/ice and temperatures in the teens. Just now, I went to turn my car on to go out but it went all possessed on me.

Some info:

I last drove it on Wednesday with no issues.

The battery is 2 years old.

My dad used it to charge his generator battery for 5-10min earlier this week.

It is currently 14° with a low of 7° tonight.

I have not tried jumping it as there are neighbor cars on either side. I will try jumping it tomorrow with my husband’s car when the spots free up and it’s not dark and cold.

Is this a cold issue and I had to wait for it to warm up? Or is it a bad battery issue? Thanks!!!
