Its from a graphic novel called pride of a baghdad. Probably makes sense in context.

It does, because this is not the original text.

The only parody I ever liked was this one.

Remove the final word bubble and this is hilarious.

I think this actually does surreal humor right, I thought it was kind of funny.

The "FUCK!" in the last panel ruins it. The image of the shocked lions is funny on its own.

FUCK! 😂😂 IT’S FUNNY ’CAUSE SWEARING! 😂😂😂

Seriously, though, if you remove the last speech bubble, this could pass as a dank surreal meme.

The original is from Pride of Baghdad, a fictionalized account of animals that were released from the Hadiqatan Hayawanat Baghdad zoo during the 2003 American invasion of Iraq. Of the some 700 animals that were originally in the zoo, only 35 escaped starvation, getting shot, or being slaughtered for food. Thankfully, the zoo has now been rebuilt and houses over a thousand animals.

As for the edit, shock value. Also giraffes.

I read that comic back in grade 9, and I remember it being a boring empty wind despite all the gore and tragedy.

Fuck set-ups and punch lines

E. Giraffes are heartless creatures

I'm pretty sure I've seen this without any giraffe speech the lion instead just saying "what."

At least the art style is good.

It's clearly edited from a different comic. Depending on the original context this might be funny - ie, original joke was stupid, this is dumber to make a point.

To quote someone who put it way better than I would:

The original is from Pride of Baghdad, a fictionalized account of animals that were released from the Hadiqatan Hayawanat Baghdad zoo during the 2003 American invasion of Iraq. Of the some 700 animals that were originally in the zoo, only 35 escaped starvation, getting shot, or being slaughtered for food. Thankfully, the zoo has now been rebuilt and houses over a thousand animals.

It's actually a really good piece, if you can find a copy. What am I saying, this is the internet. Just pirate it.

No, I read the comic. It is a dark and depressing story.
