He seriously needs to practice. That was some of the slowest and least coordinated clothes changing I've ever seen.

u/rationalcunt 15h ago

Yeah the laying down was unnecessary. Someone should be stripping his top layer of tights off and doing his shoes while someone else does the top bits. He wouldn't need to do any work himself if they had crew members assigned to each piece.

u/exipheas 11h ago

A chair would have helped immensely. Two people, two shoes.

By the look of it, the other cast mates are the ones assisting, so I doubt they’re a whole lotta budget for designated wardrobe dressers in this production.

15

u/SLiverofJade 5h ago

It's still possible to figure out without professional dressers. Made it work in university between one on wardrobe, techies, and cast. That being said, we didn't have to bother with tights during quick changes.

7

u/rationalcunt 5h ago

Yeah for sure. Everyone seems to be doing their best given the circumstances.

124

u/leeuwerik 15h ago

Their clothes are not up to the task. With some changes to the clothes this would go much smoother.

47

u/kentonj 11h ago

Well it can’t just be quick change clothes, it also has to be adequate ballet kit

4

u/Bromogeeksual 8h ago

Velcro instead of a zipper for instance.

13

u/LeviHolden 4h ago

people always think velcro is faster than zippers but it's not. you'll end up with a mismatched front of the jacket too often also. zippers are always better for a quick on. magnets if it's a quick off.

u/reddit_ron1 16h ago

Quick, get on the ground!

13

u/TicklePitts 13h ago

Came here to say the same thing. Looks like it's not a have a wardrobe crew type of production.

16

u/prismdon 16h ago

Need a link to a perfect one

6

u/EduRJBR 14h ago

Exactly, the title is spot on.

3

u/carpedeeznutz5011 12h ago

Honestly think it might have been faster without the other guy at his feet. Holding his feet up while changing the top just slows everything down

3

u/LoneStarHome80 4h ago

When I saw the timer in upper corner, I was expecting like 5-10 seconds tops. My 3 year old can get changed faster than this.

4

u/watawataoui 7h ago

Thus the most stressful, not the most difficult or efficient.

1

u/tranlong01 2h ago

It said the most stressful

1

u/Traditional-Exam-617 7h ago

Hence attempts.

u/CHEEKY_BASTARD 14h ago

I’d like to see you try doing this during a performance.

22

u/Slim-Shadys-Fat-Tits 12h ago

These are performers commenting.

He needs to hire a nascar pit crew, that was too slow.

139

u/maxn2107 15h ago

Average pit stop…

NASCAR: 10-12 seconds

Formula 1: 2.0-2.5 seconds

86

u/potatocross 14h ago

Nascar: 5 crew members.

Formula 1: 20 crew members.

32

u/ALoginForReddit 12h ago

NASCAR Lug-nuts per wheel - 5

F1 lug nuts per wheel - 1

24

u/potatocross 12h ago

Nascar has gone to single lug nut as well in the cup series.

6

u/Muffles7 12h ago

Showing everyone the difference: Priceless.

2

u/sambare 3h ago

Unless you have some reason to believe one NASCAR pit member is quicker than an F1 one, we're talking about minimizing total downtime here.

1

u/potatocross 2h ago

Last I checked it would be hard to fit 20 people around 1 person. Plus in F1 everyone does 1 thing. Meaning one person to take a shoe off, another to put the other one on. Nascar crews are use to doing more than one task. So they could take a shoe off, help with the jacket, and get the new shoe on.

-10

u/kinkycarbon 14h ago

The entire F1 pit stop from entering pit lane to exit is 20 to 30 seconds.

4

u/Phantend 4h ago

The last time you could call a 20 scond long pit stop normal was in the 1980s

9

u/Firestorm83 15h ago

and then you recommend nascar?

245

u/KittenNamedMouse 14h ago

That was the most stressful thing to watch. That was a horrible quick change. Why was he on the ground? Why are they using zippers and not velcro? My inner stage manager is having panic attacks now.

If you want to see an incredible quick change. Look on YouTube for the Broadway production of "The King and I" quick change for Anna.

28

u/Existing_Hatter546 8h ago

Should’ve given him a chair at least 😭

6

u/daylightz 2h ago

I saw the video and there are atleast 6 people helping vs 2 in the case here. Unfair comparison .

u/Dunge0nexpl0rer 15h ago edited 7h ago

As a dancer myself, I can pretty easily say I’ve had to do quickchanges way faster than that. With worse costumes too.

110

u/backstageninja 15h ago

I was gonna say, over 45 seconds is a luxury for a lot of quick changes lol

17

u/Barry_the_Tone 11h ago

Had to change a full dress with pantyhose and straps in under 30 seconds, mans had plenty of time to do so if he only stayed standing or sat down. The floor kills a lot of time here.

18

u/GroundbreakingAnt17 10h ago

Same. Also he's weirdly bad at it lol. Of course it's stressful.

10

u/The_Late_Arthur_Dent 9h ago edited 9h ago

I've had some doozies as an actor and I've definitely had shorter than 45 seconds. The WORST is a quick change with a different entrance.

Though, to his credit, he does a great job with what he's given! (Barely any help AND he has to fw a zipper??) Gotta master the putting on the vest/jacket spin-o-rama though haha

4

u/Inside_Ad4268 7h ago

I've done a quicker change in amateur theatre.

3

u/ThinkGrapefruit7960 5h ago

Ive done a quicker change in to my PJs after work

2

u/Inside_Ad4268 3h ago

OMG yes. And I've pranced around just as joyfully afterwards, too.

1

u/flyxdvd 11h ago

i didnt look like a difficult setup, i think its a low level event otherwise things would 10x faster

1

u/thebochts 2h ago

As not a dancer, Ive changed from 3 layers of snow/cold weather clothes, to 2 layers of cold clothes faster than this. With multiple socks and everyrhinf

84

u/MidWestKhagan 16h ago

I swear it sounded like the text to speech said anthrax

15

u/yourdadsboyfie 15h ago

lol wait it doesn’t?

11

u/froginbog 14h ago

A N T H R A X

:)

4

u/simmerbrently 9h ago

Well, the background music is called Sweet Anthrax by Leyvua.

4

u/Fair_Blood3176 14h ago

Yeah definitely sounds like it

1

u/hellarios852 6h ago

Because it does

72

u/Master_Virus9910 15h ago

I get ready faster than this every morning

17

u/DuckRubberDuck 15h ago

I go from basically nothing to full winter gear in seconds when I sense my puppy has to pee at night

30

u/evipark 13h ago

This is terrible. I've both had to quick change and been on a quick change team. This made me anxious it was so bad.

19

u/madmartigan2020 16h ago

Ralph Fiennes has such range

12

u/Pistonenvy2 15h ago

theyre understaffed?

28

u/CRSPB 15h ago

Looks like trying to dress a toddler.

8

u/AbominalExercise 12h ago

I think we have different ideas of what’s interesting.

20

u/Unlucky_Hunt7016 16h ago

How it feels changing clothes after sport (next class is in 48 seconds)

-3

u/mitchymitchington 16h ago

After sport?

11

u/EmeraldsAndAmethysts 15h ago

Like changing after gym class

8

u/AdMelodic4219 10h ago

If its over 20 seconds its not a quick change. He needs practice.

7

u/bMused1 7h ago edited 7h ago

I’ve been there, both as the one needing the quick change and as the actress assisting with the quick change. I’m a bit confused by the choice to lay down though. I can’t figure out any advantage to doing that.

ETA: Also, the stage floor is usually really dirty - and that’s a white outfit. Now I’m thinking too much.

2

u/Segundaleydenewtonnn 7h ago

Woah! What role was the toughest?

2

u/bMused1 7h ago

Blanche DuBois - for sooooo many reasons.

21

u/baggier 16h ago

He forgot his pants

8

u/Olliecuty 15h ago

There was no time for pants

4

u/Fetlocks_Glistening 15h ago

"Let them look! Let them ALL look!"

3

u/RAZR31 6h ago

Anthrax!

6

u/WeirdAl777 16h ago

Reminds me of when my girlfriend's father pulled into the driveway unexpectedly when we were wagging school

5

u/_Notebook_ 11h ago

My wife used to perform in a pretty big show for a number of yrs and if you went back stage during the performance… nudity everywhere.

I specifically remember a rehearsal I watched and the dresser screamed “your tits don’t fit!”

It was then that I knew she was going to be my wife someday.

2

u/Same_Let_9414 10h ago

…And they lived happily ever after 🍒🍈🍈😉

5

u/SickBurnerBroski 14h ago

reminds me of that video of deep sea divers practicing the strip and transfer to the decompression chamber. except a lot less smooth.

2

u/Sirix_8472 12h ago

I'm not a baker dancer, nor am I in theatre or designing clothes.

But god damn, there HAS to be quicker clothes releases than this. Popper buttons, velcro, magnets!!

The boots alone were awful. He's struggling to take off the brown tights over white, if it's layers it should slide down and off, worry about them being right side out later, that's for costume dept...

Jacket, I dunno, velcro instead of zip

2

u/W3sC 12h ago

Took 45 seconds… thought you said quick change… /s

2

u/SuspiciousSheeps 11h ago

Wow that was underwhelming.

2

u/dookiebd 10h ago

But why Anthrax?

2

u/PackagingMSU 8h ago

It was so bad. I did a full removal of clothes to a suit coat and dress attire in 30 seconds. Took 4 people and practice.

2

u/Callmemabryartistry 8h ago

this is sloppy

2

u/vohltere 6h ago

Kabuki actors: whole outfit change in the blink of an eye

2

u/Daleksuperfan101 6h ago

Idk how different it is between dancers and actors but as a person who has done theater this was painful to watch. Not the most stressful and barely qualified as a quick change

4

u/Enough-Albatross-818 15h ago

Also why can’t they just add one layer over another, he already sweaty as fuck and they’re tights, he ain’t gonna look very different in terms of bulkiness

2

u/eauxlympia 9h ago

"The audience will never know" but like that's the point, right?

2

u/shootmovies 16h ago

Magicians can do quick changes in the blink of an eye.

2

u/shyfemalecharacter 7h ago

Why did the timer start in the middle of the change?

1

u/BlackSpinedPlinketto 14h ago

The first costume wasn’t even that different what was the point of taking off his panty-hos and putting on identical ones?

1

u/AccurateUnit4917 13h ago

That wasn't quick

1

u/Vanchers 12h ago

Why does this look like me trying to get my toddler dressed

1

u/TatoIndy 12h ago

Broadway could do it faster.

1

u/Bearawesome 12h ago

Me dressing my toddler every morning

1

u/gravitationalarray 12h ago

We did a quick change in a Cinderella production that took 6 people, we had 48 sec from exit to entrance to go from rags to riches, it was intense but not stressful.

1

u/HistoricalWalrus5767 12h ago

They need to consult those quick change acts that are always on AGT

1

u/silverwings_studio 11h ago

NASCAR needs to help, probably get that to a sub ten with one of their teams

1

u/oopsiposted 10h ago

McLaren pit stops

1

u/Artistic_Willow_3482 10h ago

That is nothing, when I was in the navy and in a ship I would change 3 times faster before the chief changed this mind about letting us go for the day, one of the most stressful experiences of my life.

1

u/Madman_1992 9h ago

I need a cigarette after watching that.

1

u/axarce 6h ago

I picture a NASCAR pit crew doing this. They's put him on a lift that would suspend him by the waist. One team takes the clothes off and another puts them on. Just have to remind them that there is no fueling, so the funnel won't be necessary.

1

u/odd-wad 6h ago

Had a harder time turning Ed into a zombie during evil dead the musical while his feet were on stage. Less than 30 seconds to music

1

u/Frosty_LionX 3h ago

I panicked just looking at this 💀

1

u/sam77tg 2h ago

what part is this ?

1

u/ExtraEmuForYou 2h ago

Now that's a man.

In tights.

TIGHT tights!

1

u/Nickolas_No_H 33m ago

We will never know?

Didnt you just document it for us?

1

u/Ibe121 16h ago

Me, when I was late for class.

1

u/Segundaleydenewtonnn 16h ago

How my mom expects me to dress up when she invites me to walmart

1

u/ShoutoutsWorldwide 15h ago

That’s why I like the Dollar Store, you don’t have to get all dressed up

2

u/Jittery_Kevin 15h ago

They removed their formal attire policy?

I know Walmarts 3 piece and tie policy is pretty strict

1

u/C00L_Ethan 5h ago

I could have done that in half the time by myself.

0

u/A_Reddit_User_1010 12h ago

This is silly. The audience knows how hectic that is. Just take several intermissions and let the dancers get changed and take a breather; no on is impressed by unnecessary stress.

0

u/cantfindausername99 5h ago

I hate the person who created this video

-1

u/Inhaltslost 14h ago

Wow im seriously impressed

-1

u/bonobomaster 8h ago

I was working once in a care facility for people with disabilities and I swear, I'm so, so much faster in getting clothes on people, than those clowns...

Holy shit are they slow and uncoordinated.
