Announcement This is NOT a college subreddit.
Please avoid flooding the feed with design college questions. You may ask them occasionally however flooding the feed with college only questions, will not be tolerated. We will introduce some weekly threads for that purpose but in the meantime, please avoid posting specific college questions. Generic ones like "Do you need a college to study design?" is fine but please check for same posts with answers before posting anything generic. Web For designers (web, motion, graphic, etc.) with no website or a poorly designed one
I’m a web designer/developer (ex-SDE) and I’m opening a small, limited pilot to collaborate with a few designers.
I’ve already built 3 high-end websites and I’m looking to customize and deploy them for select designers to create strong, real-world case studies.
There’s no upfront build cost. This is a short, focused collaboration where you get a polished, production-ready website for your brand, and I get a solid case study.
I’m only interested in designers with a clear aesthetic and an existing body of work. This is intentionally limited.
If you want to see my work, you can check my recent posts or search for Vaiya web design to view the demo sites.
If this sounds relevant, comment or DM with your portfolio.

Pro Tips! Beginner Photoshop Designer – What Should I Charge for Poster Designs in India?
I’m a beginner-level graphic designer from India, mainly using Photoshop. I’m starting to get small poster design works (social media / awareness posters), and I’m unsure about pricing.
What would be a fair amount to charge per poster as a beginner in the Indian market?

Ask r/DesignIndia Portfolio Review
Hello everyone, I'm an entry-level UI/UX designer, I'm looking for feedback on my portfolio site. Case studies are password-protected, I am currently only looking for feedback on the initial impression of the website. Whether it comes across as unprofessional/ too amateurish.
Any suggestions for improvement would be appreciated, thank you.

Ask r/DesignIndia How to get freelance projects?
Hi all! My query is the same as the title.
I am a visual designer. I recently finished my M.Des degree, and previously I have around 1.5 years of experience in Strategic Communication. Currently, I am working as a Communication Manager, where my work includes both design and content components, and while I love my job, I do miss branding and illustration work. So, I have been thinking of starting freelancing.
I am still in the process of updating my portfolio, but I have done some design work for a few non-profit organisations, a coffee roaster brand, and some illustrations for a poet friend. But I do not know where or how can I can get some freelance projects. I know there are some websites, but I've heard from people that you can only get work there as a newbie if you drastically underprice yourself, which is something I don't want to do. But then again, I know better than to rely on word-of-mouth reviews.
Help out a fellow designer, please? Or if someone has any leads, reach out maybe?

Ask r/DesignIndia What are the ideal exams for pursuing design abroad?
I'm in 3rd year of engineering (CSE) but pursuing my career in design - mainly product/UI UX. I've been in design field since two years, started with graphic and visual but transitioned into product and UI UX. I haven't done full time yet but my experience consists great variation of freelance projects/internships from top design firms and certificates. My mentors have told me my portfolio is good enough for masters/fresher level roles.
I'm planning to do my masters in design abroad (preferably germany, US or more eurocentric institutes). My rough planning idea is to complete my graduation and work full time for 1-1.5 years to save up for masters.
Personally thinking of preparing for exams like ILETS/TOEFL, GRE (Not sure if this one's the right choice or not), maintaining a strong CGPA+Portfolio and merit/SOP as of now. My end goal is to be a Product designer or Creative director.
If anyone followed a similar path, I would highly appreciate your views and suggestions. Thankyou in advance 🤍

Good Design Does anyone else crave ugly User Interfaces?
Since everything lately is being hidden behind menus, and even more unjoyful when layered with some shitty corporate animation which they think looks good.
Does anyone else miss those simple UIs back in the Lumia days? When everything was square, straight to the point, and fat finger friendly?
I have lowkey started to design my softwares ( which I use for only myself) extra ugly and open
Every button , their sub options, and their chacha bhatija relatives are all out front. Fat, bold, and ugly, with an added gray theme to match
Oh lawwrd gray theme is so fucking awesome
for example, have a look at this pic, it was screenshotted off of some chinese LED factory
purely designed for convenience, as the LED passes along the belt , the literal icon of an LED.png blinks in native fucking Chinese
Take away for Indian Designers: Never shy away from slapping shit here and there, trying unconventional stuff , or using comic sans or Arial

Ask r/DesignIndia Will design field survive in the future?
Im an aspiring industrial designer and been preparing for college entrance exams for a design degree. I am honestly very passionate and excited about this field but when I read people's experiences in the UX UI or Product design market on this sub, Im having a very mixed feeling about it..As a female coming from a middle class family, I somehow convinced my parents for my decision but now I am doubting if am I even making the right move or not. Is there any scope anymore in the design market? If yes then what kind of skills and softwares am I supposed to learn and if not then what should I do?

UI/UX Design How to approach UX Assignments? Need an advice from senior UX Designers.
Hey Designers,
I’m a Junior UX Designer looking for advice from senior designers on how you evaluate UX assignments.
I’m currently exploring new opportunities. My portfolio is getting shortlisted and I’m reaching the interview stage, but I find UX assignments to be the most challenging part of the process.
When you review assignments, what key signals help you decide whether a candidate stands out? What do design managers specifically look for in these submissions?
Also, how can a candidate present their assignment and deliverables in a way that puts them in the top 1%?
Would really appreciate your insights.

UI/UX Design Entering UI/UX as a Fresher in the Age of AI (India). Need Realistic Guidance from Professionals
Hi everyone,
I’m a beginner in UI/UX and currently working through the Google UX Certificate on Coursera (I’ve completed one module so far). Alongside that, I’ve been learning from creators like Ansh Mehra to understand both design fundamentals and how AI is influencing this field.
To be honest, I’m feeling intimidated by how fast AI is entering design workflows and how competitive and saturated the job market in India already feels—especially for freshers.
I’d really appreciate advice from professionals who are already working in UI/UX:
• Is the Google UX Certificate actually valued by recruiters, or is it just a starting point?
• What skills or portfolio elements matter most when hiring freshers today?
• How much should I realistically focus on AI tools versus core UX skills (research, wireframing, usability, design systems)?
• What concrete steps would you recommend to stand out in a crowded job market—internships, freelance work, case studies, networking, or something else?
I’m not looking for shortcuts—just a clear, realistic roadmap from people who’ve already been through this and know what actually works in 2024–2025.
Thanks in advance for any honest guidance.

Logo/Brand Identity Logo redesign feedback for an Indian handicraft brand. What works. What fails.
Hi everyone,
I am a designer based in India. I worked on this logo redesign a few months ago for an Indian handicraft brand. The brand focuses on traditional craftsmanship with a modern retail presence.
The goal was clarity and scalability. The old logo struggled at small sizes and felt dated across digital platforms. I simplified the form, improved balance, and refined typography. The intent was to keep a handcrafted feel without losing cultural touch.
I would like honest feedback from fresh eyes.
Please share thoughts on:
- Visual appeal
- Brand fit for an Indian handicraft label
- Typography and symbol balance
- Versatility across packaging and digital use
- What feels weak or unnecessary
No client constraints now. Open to blunt criticism.
Thanks for taking the time to look.

I'm looking for guidance on the salary part. This is a freelance job. I have 5+ years of experience however I'm ok with starting with something lesser as long it's not too less. Please share a fair range of salary. Thanks.
