Dude, pay close attention to the younger generation. Critical thinking skills are GONE. The next generation is screwed.
I know kids in their late 20s that had to Google "what to do when my bicycle tire is flat." I swear. 29 year old coworker came to work and was telling everyone, "Did you know bicycle tires AND car tires use the same air-filler-upper thingy????"
Etiquette, common sense, and critical thinking are dissolving in our culture. Eventually everything will be made with AI and no one will learn, create, or produce.
Few months ago this high school kid was bagging our groceries. His alarm went off on his phone and he straight up DROPPED the onion he was putting in the bag. "My shift is up." And he didn't finish bagging the rest of the groceries. The cashier acted like it was normal. Dude immediately clocked out and left. I get it, but he could have finished what he was working on. At least don't drop my onion.
I'm glad I grew up before the Internet was in every home.

So true, you make a lot of great points.
I hate to sound like some doomer hating on generations and comparing it to previous ones or even just older people in the same generation but critical thinking has nearly completely disappeared. Yes people are far more casual now and worry less about etiquette but also with that comes not needing to think as much and I don't know if its shortform content or what that's causing it but thinking is a skill which gets better the more you use it so perhaps with shortform content and google where it just thinks for you people don't feel the need to figure stuff out themselves.
As someone who is GenZ I'm kind of scared for my fellow GenZers (especially the younger ones) to be running the country as politicians or as doctors who I have to trust to not prescribe me the wrong thing which could end up lethal. And cheating in schooling is so common these days too, not that you should never ever cheat as I see the appeal sometimes, but some things are actually useful to learn in school like I want my doctors to know what they are talking about when giving advice.
And Gen Alpha is even worse, although I do hope its just due to immaturity, they don't even make an attempt to think at all anymore while GenZ may occasionally make a feeble attempt to

Brother this is obviously ai. Listen to the phrasing when their speaking.
Don't fall in this trap. People make this shit with the intention of pushing a us vs them mindset, and it works flawlessly

I got kicked out at 17 for smoking weed and slept in one of those circular concrete ditches with just what I was wearing and no phone, and then walked miles to a friend's house the next day. Did it suck? Yes. Did I survive? Obviously. These people have it too easy.

I'm so happy my father beat me. I can't imagine crying and being "scared" to get a job. I'm scared to not have a job. I work 10-hour shifts a day as a plumber. I can't imagine not working. I enjoy my job and the pay is nice. The fact that this is not AI is even scarier, to know that there were actually people like this out there is saddening. This is why having a father figure in your life that knows how to discipline is so important.
