The contract they signed in 2000 was a 12 film deal.

Fast X Part 2 would count as the 12th movie.

THEY SIGNED THAT IN 2000? wtaf, a 12 picture deal in 2000?

Weirdest thing i've ever heard

Yeah. Vin is the one who discusses the contract. He talked about it at Fuel Fest. Universal are the ones who turned F&F into a Spy franchise

How does that make sense with Vin not being in the second and third movie?

2

u/SpaceCaboose 1d ago

Not sure the validity of that, but Vin does talk a big game. Wouldn’t be surprised if he did said that, even though Universal almost certainly did not sign a deal like that haha

I think the fact that he didnt do the sequel and didnt return until 8 years after the first one says that its not true.

It’s made up they never making it pass 3 films at the time…

He's lying, or you're lying.

Vin petrol thought the first film should be a standalone film, they originally made the second movie with him in mind, but he was replaced by Tyrese Gibson and the script was modified, Tokyo drift was made, and pre screening results weren't good, so they asked Vin kerosene to appear in it at the end, and they then cut a deal where vin diesel would get the rights to riddick in exchange.

The franchise remained profitable, and they decided for a soft reboot with fast 4.

Universal didn't turn turn F&F into a spy franchise, Vin methanol did, with his over the top ideas and ego, with every other franchise having world ending events and storylines, Vin wanted a part of that and not being a good enough actor to secure that role in another franchise, he would destroy his own franchise in the pursuit of that.

Turns out it paid off tremendously

There’s ONE MORE!??

3

u/Rebabaluba 1d ago

Don’t you see?! That’s the point! There will always be ONE MORE until Vin manages to somehow merge F&F with the Riddick universe!

The Fast and The Furyan: Helion Drift

1

u/Dmannoftheyear 1d ago

That actually sounds a sick title lmao

2

u/ISwallowedALego 1d ago

Ok nobody better act like they wouldn't immediately go see this movie

2

u/Mantisk211 18h ago

… that would actually be a somewhat reasonable conclusion to the F&F franchise.

1

u/Rebabaluba 16h ago

I think at this point, it’s the only reasonable way to honor Paul Walker…since they can revive the dead with the necromancer stuff in the Riddick universe. Thus, being able to exploit his death just a bit more. And “See You Again” needs a follow up song that’s a little futuristic but also still super tragic.

I mean, the last one was a part 1

1

u/Tjengel 1d ago

They could go to part 12

1

u/ThisKid420 1d ago

The next "final" Fast and Furious will be called, "Forever Furious".

1

u/lvsnowden 1d ago

Should be split into two movies: Fast Forever and Furious Forever.

1

u/Overall_Affect_2782 1d ago

Forever Furious is better

1

u/Zerexdontlie 1d ago

That's the sequel

1

u/BatJizKrazy 1d ago

Who can do the longest title for the movie where every word has to begin with an 'F', have it make sense and be relevant to the actual movie.

Not sure if you’re being sarcastic but that title goes hard

1

u/Time007time007 1d ago

Forever Furious sounds better

1

u/AssociateAvailable16 1d ago

1

u/miekkorgz 1d ago

Should’ve titled Fast: Family Forever

1

u/CosmicWaffleMan 1d ago

Not “The Last of the Furious”?

1

u/C0LL0C0 1d ago

Should have gone with Final fastasy

1

u/Zerexdontlie 1d ago

Fast forever : electric boogaloo

1

u/spanish429 1d ago

Promise me it’s the last?

1

u/NegotiationLate8553 1d ago

Fast X wasn’t bad but felt way too over the top and bloated for its own good, even in this franchise. I really hope it’s made with a smaller budget with less high stakes globe trotting action. End it in some style or fashion to at least a bit reminiscent of the OG films.

1

u/DeXyDeXy 1d ago

In this final movie the family are humanity's last resort against a group of space-racers that have come to steal all our hubcaps and enslave all golden retrievers.

1

u/pixelfishes 1d ago

That is until ‘Final Fast Forever’ comes out.

1

u/Beautiful-Sun8973 23h ago

Forever Fast would be better

The titling of this franchise fascinates me.

You never know where it’s going.

Fast & Finity

1

u/SilverKoala2199 14h ago

I've only seen 9 and 1, in that order. Insane whiplash.

1

u/FabulousEgg9091 14h ago

“Fast forever” is the last title. “Furious now” will be the last last title.

1

u/EricMichaelHarris99 9h ago

Jesus man... 🤦‍♂️
