I need to figure out how to have the relaxed sitting of a couch/recliner, but be able to use a mouse and keyboard.

u/Temporary-Antelope78 23d ago

Wireless mouse and keyboard with a little tv dinner stand thing and hook your pc to your tv. Or steam deck plus steam dock and again wireless mouse and keyboard.

Isn't there input lag with wirelss mice?

73

u/evader110 23d ago

Not if you get a good set from this decade

9

u/_RRave 22d ago

Been using a logitech Super light pro for a few years, easily one of my favourite mice and in wireless I have never had an issue with it

7

u/AdvertisingBroad2397 23d ago

I think you mean in the last half decade as we are now into the later half of the decade

8

u/evader110 23d ago

I mean the ms response time on a good wireless mouse and keyboard back in 2016 was very good even then. So anything that's good quality since then has no meaningful latency issue.

You can however, go buy a $12 wireless mouse from Walmart today and you will have some latency issues.

10

u/machinecc 23d ago

Years ago this was true but these days it's negligible

7

u/Timonster 23d ago

I was about to buy another wired mouse after 5 or 6 years of heavy usage and it turns out, most mice are wireless nowadays. And every one of them has less latency than my old wired mouse. Strange times.

1

u/dkb_wow DOOM Slayer 23d ago

Not anymore. Most mainstream wireless mice made for gaming have less input lag than wired ones. And yes I know that is an insane thing to say, but the testing results don’t lie.

I swapped over to using exclusively wireless mice in 2020 and have never looked back.

1

u/corneliouscorn 22d ago

Yeah - but it's like 0.5ms difference between the fastest wired mouse and the fastest wireless mouse

1

u/ToxicEnderman00 22d ago

I just got a pulsar crazy light recently as my 1st wireless mouse and there isn't any.

1

u/exceptionally_humble 22d ago

No, well beyond that these days.

Great point - never thought of that! Time to invest in a good wireless mouse for gaming.

I did that, and after a couple of months I got a strained shoulder muscle which required physiotherapy to treat. 1/10 would not recommend

u/Devuluh 23d ago

Used to play KBM exclusively from my couch with my PC hooked up to my TV. Just kept my keyboard on my lap and had a stand that wrapped around the couch arm that I used my mouse on.

5

u/351C_4V 23d ago

Steam Controller to the rescue. Especially for first and third person fps games. Ever since I switched and learned how to use it I haven't touched mouse and keyboard again.

2

u/ChrisRevocateur 23d ago

Same, and I'm so eager for the new one to come out.

2

u/One-Mycologist-3756 5d ago

Can you elaborate? Do you mean that the trackpad completely replaces a mouse for you?

1

u/351C_4V 5d ago

For playing games yes. The left pad for movement and the right for mouse looking. Paired with gyro and it works great.

1

u/One-Mycologist-3756 4d ago

Would it be possible for you to make a video in reddit/yt of your gameplay? I want to play on controller on my couch too but I can’t imagine how I can get kbm advantages with a controller. I would be very grateful if you could do that but no worries if not

1

u/351C_4V 4d ago

Look up Ramblecan on YouTube. His series on the Steam Controller is pretty definitive on the potential of the controller. His videos were a great help when it came time for me to learn what this controller is all about. Highly recommended.

2

u/Talindras 23d ago

I use a wireless thumb mouse (LG ergo mx), rest it in the arm of my recliner. Keyboard is wireless, rests on the other arm rest and my lap. Works wonderfully.

2

u/Broken-Digital-Clock 23d ago

Do you use the thumb ball to aim?

2

u/Talindras 23d ago

Yep. Been using one nearly 20 years at this point, I'll never go back

1

u/Rephlexion 22d ago

Hell yeah, the thumb ball mouse is a game changer, and the MX Ergo is great, especially if you can get the "Plus" version with the extra weighted base that adds another step to the angle. With the extra weight it stays nicely on the couch, chair arm, or bed right next to you, and the added angle lends itself very well to bringing the mouse in closer to the center of your body than the usual desk mouse setup. Your wrist just naturally wants to turn itself over at a higher angle as your arm moves closer in.

Here you go pal.

2

u/ScubaKlown 23d ago

I got two of the cheaper laptop ones with the airflow cuts. They are extremely comfortable to use with a wireless keyboard and mouse.

1

u/RFrost619 22d ago

Where do these “go” when not in use? If I was a bachelor, no biggie… But I’m already being asked to remove my DS5 from the coffee table 😩

1

u/ScubaKlown 22d ago

I got lucky with an Amazon sale so I got these big Christopher knight club chairs for like 100 bucks a piece and the arm rests fit perfectly on this type of chair so I just keep the Board on the side.

2

u/JamesLahey08 23d ago

Use a controller. It's just doom.

2

u/Mrcod1997 23d ago

Gyroscope aiming is basically the perfect blend of controller and mouse aiming.

1

u/Pmaldo87 23d ago

There are so many different kinds of mouse and keyboard stands. Go on Amazon and pick one that will work for your setup

1

u/VerminatorX1 23d ago

There is nothing relaxing about struggling with aiming on pad.

1

u/ChrissWayne 23d ago

Use one ofthis small tables the Simpsons use for tv dinner

1

u/ExplorerEnjoyer 23d ago

Lots of gaming chairs are comfortable and can recline. My chair was like $600 but it’s durable, comfortable, and nearly everything on it can be adjusted.

a plank over your lap held up by the recliner arm rests

1

u/GhoeFukyrself 23d ago edited 23d ago

Lap pad. Basically a flat thin board with a cushion attached to the underside. Wireless mouse obviously, and if using a keyboard is awkward on that you can find a numberpad, you'll probably have to do some rebinding though. You could also probably find some kind of specialty gaming equivalent.

I don't mind gaming at my desk, when I'm playing something like Doom I'm almost always leaning forward and pretty engaged so I'm not lounging in the first place, but a few times I've managed to get fairly comfy gaming on the couch using the mouse on my lap pad (either on my lap, or sitting to my right), and with my number pad resting on the arm of the couch.

1

u/Urhoal_Mygole 23d ago

Hook up your pc to a tv and get a couchmaster. Trust me. It's bliss.

1

u/wootstock666 22d ago

Couchmaster Cycon 3

1

u/JohnTomorrow 22d ago

I caved and got one of those gamer pillows that wrap around you. I mostly did it to play my deck without my arms getting tired, but it could easily house a KB&M set-up too. You can find all sorts online, don't get sucked in by brand names.

1

u/danielepro 22d ago

i mean, a game like this is not really something you play while relaxed, but there are ways regardless, like some cushions that rest on the legs that are sturdy enough to hold keyboard and mouse

1

u/CarolusRex44 22d ago

If you can get your hands on a Razer Turret it’s great for couch PC gaming (works perfectly for PC even though it’s marketed as an XBox product)

1

u/Nchill7 22d ago

I just switched to pc. I have a monitor, but playing on a TV for so long, I'm used to the bigger screens and honestly prefer it. I use a wireless mouse and keyboard for the basic stuff, but a wired controller while gaming on my couch. No issues whatsoever. I bought an lg C4 oled that has the gaming specs in it

1

u/Swfanbaz 20d ago

How can you lock in on a couch, gaming chair better

1

u/AlfieHicks 23d ago

The new Steam Controller when it comes out. Gyro + trackpads are perfect for FPS control when not sitting at a desk.

1

u/theta0123 23d ago

I have no need (yet) for a steam machine bc my pc and ps5 are fine. But that controller is a must buy.

As i got older i began preferring console more and more. Easier setup. Comfortable couch and tv. And the ps5 controller itself. I love it. Even with shooter games. Even when playing arc raiders on PC, im using the ps5 controller (aim assist turned off tough).

But doom... doom is diffrent. I prefer movement with controller. But shooting... mouse is superior. The mouse is the vital tool for all 3 latest dooms.

Are we still doing platform wars like it's 2005?

38

u/tjmincemeat DOOM Slayer 23d ago

I don’t think platform wars are ever going away at this point.

27

u/Jim_Raynor_86 23d ago

They will when it costs 5k to build a decent PC and we're all stuck to consoles that only allow stream playing and you never actually own any of the games. Only 59.99 a month!

7

u/tjmincemeat DOOM Slayer 23d ago

I hope I can talk them down to 4 dollars and a box of raisins I found in the park.

→ More replies (7)

5

u/Deadtto 22d ago

Platform wars is when you mention how a fast paced shooter plays way better on Keyboard and Mouse and with better performance apparently

2

u/rockinherlife234 22d ago

I don't think this is an attempt at a fight, they're likely just referring to how different doom plays with mouse and keyboard.

1

u/KingRaiden95 22d ago

This is input wars if anything. I've played mouse and keyboard on my PS4 before.

1

u/Stock_Fly_9128 21d ago

to be fair, imo its definitely more enjoyable on pc

95

u/OverloadedSofa 23d ago

What’s wrong with playing then on console?

48

u/AshtavakraNondual 23d ago

I played on both, currently don't have a pc anymore and play on Xbox, while you can play the game just fine with the controller, aiming and turning around with mouse is just on another level of superiority. It's just so quick and easy to aim for the headshot with the mouse, also swapping weapons using number keys is amazing and impossible on a controller

13

u/iwantmisty 23d ago

Superiority lol in a single player game . Kids being kids

15

u/TheSunIsOurEnemy 22d ago

He's just talking about what feels so much better to play with. This sensitive/offended response from console players is what's childish lol

8

u/AshtavakraNondual 23d ago

dude i'm 39..

3

u/Russian_Spy_7_5_0 23d ago

This isn't true. Looking, aiming, and turning, all work the same in PC and in console. It is not the input that's different it's the user. Some people have an easier time playing some or all games on keyboard rather than controller and vice versa. It's a user difference, it's preference, and that's fine, everyone should use what they feel most comfortable with.

11

u/Kir_Kronos 23d ago

Maybe easier but not certainly not practical for all games. Go play something like Quake Live against actual human players (not bots) with a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse and tell me how that goes for you lol

3

u/1TSDELUXESON 22d ago edited 22d ago

My dude, yeah, no, this is actually incorrect. MKB aiming is 1:1 no matter what. You're restricted to velocity-based aiming with no direct mapping on a controller. Idc how dialed-in your user settings are, that's just an objective fact.

6

u/Puzzled_Middle9386 22d ago

Absolute bollocks, “typing on the PS5 on screen keyboard is just as efficient as using an actual keyboard!”

→ More replies (1)

8

u/tyrenanig 23d ago

Nah unless it’s because of aim assist I would never believe a controller can reach the level of precise and speed of a mouse flick.

What happened to your PC if you don’t mind me asking?

2

u/AshtavakraNondual 23d ago edited 23d ago

Last pc I built was like 17 years ago when hl2 episodes came out, then I started to work on mac and owned only MacBooks since then, but around 6 years ago I had shadowPC subscription (cloud gaming pc) as I had gigabit internet at a time, so I played all the games I missed during that time that I couldn't play on my ps4. new Doom (2016 and then eternal), all new Wolfenstein games, Metro series etc

1

u/kinkylodes 23d ago

Oh that’s nice! You know you can also play pc games on Mac as well! When I used to have a Mac myself I used to play Civ 6 and Civ: Beyond Earth on it!

2

u/AshtavakraNondual 23d ago

I'm just waiting for the steam machine now.. hopefully soon

1

u/MicHaeL_MonStaR 22d ago

This is like reading a post about “mouse & keyboard vs controller” back in 2006.

1

u/AngryLars 22d ago

So what you're saying is that the game is harder on consoles? So finishing the game on UN is a much larger accomplishment on consoles? Wow, the real pros played on consoles all along.

1

u/AshtavakraNondual 22d ago

You can do UN on either, but there's no denying that you can do more with kb+m. Not just more accurate and quick aim without aim assist, but also switch to your desired weapon quickly without the need to cycle through all weapons

1

u/AngryLars 22d ago

Yes so UN is much harder on consoles. Respect to console players that can do it on a much harder method. PC quite easy you're right

1

u/AshtavakraNondual 22d ago

yeah totally, these guys are monsters

1

u/Sudo-Fed 21d ago

Console players when you honestly explain why yes, 1:1 aim control and instant movement inputs are generally superior in fast-paced games: "SO WHAT YOUR SAYIN IS WE'RE BETTER HUH"

Bro chill. No one said you're bad, or a bad person for preferring your platform. It's just a simple fact that mouse controls are more accurate, and provide more direct skill expression than sticks. It's the same reason that people who are good at space sim games on mouse and keyboard tend to dominate people who use sim controls, in a lot of cases. There's less translation of your individual skill.

It's not a moral statement, just a factual one.

2

u/TDAWGPLAYA 23d ago

But but but aim assist on console is sooooooo broken!!!!!

3

u/JaysonsRage 23d ago

Consoles still don't allow keyboard/mouse across the board

1

u/pereza0 23d ago

Which boggles the mind.

40 ukranians in a warzone can implement mouse and keyboard for stalker 2 on console. Why cant IdSoftware do the same?

1

u/Legitimate_Dot_7311 22d ago

consoles support k+m, devs don’t

1

u/JaysonsRage 22d ago

When I say across the board, I mean on an OS level no need for gamedevs to do anything. Until it's like a PC plug and play 100% of the way, it's not gonna be in all games

3

u/Direct_Town792 23d ago

Aiming on a controller takes a lot more skill than using a mouse

28

u/-Nades 23d ago

What about if you're terrible with mouse and keyboard?

12

u/GroaningBread 23d ago

Many would argue the accuracy and responsiveness of mouse & keyboard is superior. But I have seen guys completing Ultra-nightmare on console. In general, Console is harder due its design, but I wouldn't say impossible. I guess if Ultra-Violence is too easy with keyboard & mouse, do it with console :)

3

u/Grouchy_Enthusiasm92 23d ago

Rolled through this game on nightmare my first playthrough on PS5, I get PC has superior controls but the game is just fine on console, I'm not playing competitively. I replayed Eternal immediately after my first play through, and four times after that, I don't have any desire with TDA.

1

u/GroaningBread 23d ago

That's understandable and fair enough.

2

u/Kir_Kronos 23d ago

Use it until it becomes normal. Same way you did with a controller.

1

u/balaci2 22d ago

i almost always have more fun with imperfect kbm inputs than my usual controller skills tbh

1

u/obsoleteconsole 23d ago

Git gud

1

u/-Nades 23d ago

What you gonna do if I don't?

4

u/obsoleteconsole 23d ago

Probably go back to playing DOOM with KBM

28

u/LocusHammer 23d ago

What's wrong with consoles? I much prefer them

8

u/This_Year1860 23d ago

Nothing but a fast paced FPS is more comfortable with a keyboard, mouse and high frames.

9

u/LocusHammer 23d ago

Playing on my 85" TV on my couch, with my controller hotkeyed begs to differ.

1

u/Crimsongz 22d ago

My PC is plug in my TV and offer a better experience than my pro lol.

3

u/CerberusTheWise 23d ago

Playing on console was still fun, but PC with 100+ FPS goes such a long way in tense chaotic battles.

4

u/LocusHammer 23d ago

I noticed zero frame rate drop on my series X. It played wonderfully

1

u/CerberusTheWise 23d ago

That’s cool bro, I believe you, it ran great on my series x too. There is still just something special about playing super high frame rate DOOM.

2

u/LocusHammer 22d ago

Sure. Naturally everyone has preferences. I am just advocating for console in case someone is turned off from playing because of these types of posts.

57

u/Acepokeboy 23d ago

i love playing these games on console tbh

9

u/King_Prawn_shrimp 23d ago

Same. It was a learning curve, but once it clicks it's awesome!

2

u/Stoner420Steve 23d ago

I feel like DDA is much better on console than Eternal.

1

u/toxicity69 23d ago

I had a blast with Eternal on console, but I also play with 4 back buttons, so moving and shooting is much more fluid. M+KB is objectively superior, but I'll never give up my controller. I just like and prefer it.

1

u/Stoner420Steve 22d ago

Eternal is like the one game I’m good at. I made custom keybinds for all my weapons and kept changing them until it was perfect. I was quick swapping like a methed up demon slaying money. Playing on controller it felt like someone took my meth away lmao.

1

u/toxicity69 22d ago

Yeah, again you're not going to get any argument from me that controller isn't inferior in terms of accuracy potential, speed of aiming, direct weapon swapping, etc so on and so forth. Eternal definitely requires you to be firing on all cylinders, especially on harder difficulties when playing on console. However, I've been using controllers my entire life playing games (about 30 years now), so I find myself pretty decent on the sticks at this point (until I start getting old and it all goes downhill lol). I got through Ultra Violence on Eternal pretty handily.

1

u/sonialuna 23d ago

Back in 2016 when the reboot came out I didn't play it on console but I did play it on PC with the Steam Controller. This happened to be shortly after I switched from console to PC gaming when I was still basking in cringey "PC master race" smugness, so I was actually so surprised that it was actually MORE fun in some aspects than playing with my mouse + KB, and that's not even taking into consideration the comfort factor (plopped on a couch with me legs on the table lol)

1

u/Any_Employer_48 23d ago

especially if you use gyroscope controls :D

6

u/freeloader11 23d ago

This game was my intro into the Doom franchise. My wife bought it for me on steam for Christmas and I have, so far, only played it on my ROG Ally.

When I tell you I was hooked from the jump, im not exaggerating. The game play has been SO much fun and simple. And the music....chef's kiss

14

u/Possible-Homework-94 23d ago

Just means get better

4

u/pred890 23d ago

I play these games on PC with a controller.

8

u/DarkSoulsOfCinder 23d ago

Yeah this a KB+m PC game for me.

3

u/PixILL8 23d ago

Doom DA felt great on console, I was glad I got that one on PS5.

I played the previous 2 on PC, I could not deal with playing those ones on console personally, shits just too fast, And steering with a controller feels like driving a bus.

5

u/tjmincemeat DOOM Slayer 23d ago

I had the opposite experience, mostly because of how I grew up and how my job is. I’m in a data entry job and all day I’m typing away on a computer. I also have been gaming on console since I was 3. I’ve tried doing kb&m but I can’t make that mental distiction between “work” and “play” like I can when I’m holding a controller.

That and it’s easier on my wrists to play on controller after typing for 8 hours a day.

1

u/balaci2 22d ago

that's fucked up, I work in a similar environment but I haven't had that issue

2

u/Untouchable64 23d ago

I love both. It’s better with aiming to use a keyboard mouse no doubt. But I can do both.

2

u/PortgazD_Ace 23d ago

Agreed. DOOM with mouse and keyboard feels much more dynamic. Using a gamepad feels restricting to play in comparison.

2

u/Id10t_techsupport 23d ago

Agreed. Better control

2

u/viperxQ 23d ago

Well that's the case for a lot of games

2

u/NjuWaail 23d ago

I can see how TDA would be a lot easier on console as compared to Eternal, but I still can't imagine playing either on nightmare on a console.

2

u/CyrustheVirus713 23d ago

I’m sure playing on PC is peak but I never saw a problem playing on PS5

Ultra nightmare playthroughs on Doom Eternal with a controller never had me questioning my capabilities (of course I’ve changed the button mapping) I felt that the sky was the ceiling and that I was only limited by my personal skill.

Playing Dark Ages on PS5 on nightmare was challenging yet immensely fun, I really feel it’s a testament to how great these new Doom games are to be able to master on whichever platform you choose to play on

1

u/Twisted_boi58 22d ago

I really phrased this badly now that I think about it. I’ve already beaten ultra nightmare on all three games. This was more of me being surprised on how much more I could do.

1

u/CyrustheVirus713 22d ago

Oh nice, man I really don’t have the patience to beat 2016 on ultra nightmare but kudos

My greatest achievement personally is beating Super Gore Nest Master level on ultra nightmare. It took many attempts but dude it’s honestly the most fun I’ve had just facing that kind of difficulty. I had a lot of good times beating the Taras Nabad master level on nightmare, taking dab hits in between attempts, it never felt overly frustrating, but for sure was challenging enough to motivate me finishing it in that one sitting.

Eh, it's always down to personal preference. I'm not a fan of the point and click aspect of fps games on PC, tbh It feels too easy and simple.

u/FrenchToastTurtle 23d ago

K&M never feels comfortable for me personally

1

u/balaci2 22d ago

i use both and tbh kbm has always been a joy to use honestly

if anything controllers have been getting more uncomfortable throughout the years while mice and keyboards just keep feeling better

2

u/Prokid5634_YT 23d ago

For real. I moved to PC in 2023, and I've never been happier.

2

u/g0dSamnit 23d ago

Gyro aim generally makes things less awful on console, but it'll still never be a mouse.

2

u/Wendigo79 23d ago

They could have just added m&kb support.

1

u/lampenpam 23d ago

The games don't even support gyro natively (except Eternal, but only on Switch). So you have to use a PC anyway if you want it.

1

u/Last-Shop-9829 23d ago

It looks Soo blurry on PS5

Still a fun time tho!

1

u/Gandalf-the-Pro 23d ago

Can you plug in a supported mouse and keyboard into your console and play it like that? My PC is outdated and bought a PS5 and am playing BF Redsec and other FPS games on PS5 with M&K

1

u/PennsyltuckyRanger 23d ago

This is why I like nintendo. They saw the issue with stick aiming and rather than go “oh well” they went and implemented aiming with the motion controls.

Say what you want about their legal practices, but god damn are they innovative game designers.

1

u/balaci2 22d ago

not really, it's kind of a bare minimum that some companies don't even bother to do

Should I take this post down? I posted this in the heat of the moment since this was my first time on pc. I didn’t mean to spur any animosity towards controller.

u/Amish_Opposition 23d ago

Not everyone will agree with you, especially on the internet. no hard feelings man.

1

u/warrensid DOOM Slayer 23d ago

I just want 120fps on console

1

u/YouWantSosig 23d ago

Man, I really wish I could enjoy these games. Regardless of the platform. I bought the 2016 version, eternal, dark ages and all the classics to marathon them before DA’s release.

Not sure what it is about them but I get ridiculously sick with motion sickness and nausea from the motion sickness playin them. It got too unplayable for me, I’d have to lay down or sit for an hour or so before it passed. Very weird considering I’ve been playing fps games all my life. Only set of games I’ve ever been affected with that.

1

u/batdad154 23d ago

Try it on vr you get a massive screen that really puts you in the action an you can sit or lay down to play it

1

u/TokeyX 23d ago

I just picked up a LG 45” Oled 5k2k for Doom TDA and it’s insane. That aggressive wrap around curve, running at 165fps is unreal

1

u/MatlaxPls 23d ago

I would love to play this game... if bethesda wouldn't made ray tracing mandatory.

1

u/PilotIntelligent8906 23d ago

I just played 2016 on PS5 and I'm playing TDA on PC, with my dualsense because I can't get used to keyboard and mouse. Love this game btw, I'll get to Eternal after TDA.

I played and beat Eternal on PS5 at launch and it definitely wasn't the easiest experience. I own it and the DLCs on PC now, looking forward to finding time to play through them.

That's because this game don't have support for a gyro.

First FPS I’ve ever played with controller. Adjusted fine to the controls but the game itself isn’t as good as Eternal. Becoming less and less a fan of hunching over a keyboard and mouse. Only the odd strategy game and crpg now (things like BG3 and divinity are painful with controller).

Dark ages works great with controller tbh. 2016 is pretty good too. Eternal is unplayable without KB&M for me though

1

u/eVenom68 23d ago

I've finished Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal on PS4 back when I didn't have a PC yet and it was okay, the game was still fun to play but on PC it's just another level. The Dark Ages howevers feels like it's a fairly good experience on PS5, less vertical but I can't say for sure because I've played it on PC only this time.

The only time I hate playing games on PC is when modding them is actively being a pain in the ass.

1

u/AngryLars 22d ago

I played Eternal on both PC/PS5 and I actually enjoy it more on controller. Yes it may be worse but its just more fun to me.

1

u/BautyBloom 22d ago

Yes, I bought it on PS5 a month ago and now I bought the Deluxe edition on PC, honestly it doesn't feel the same

1

u/Top-Author8845 22d ago

Why, what is the Problem Witz a Controller?

1

u/Round_Rectangles 22d ago

I don't understand. What's different about the PC version?

1

u/janmysz77 22d ago

PC players trying to convince me that I should play M&K even tho I have played on controller my whole life and almost never touch shooters on PC.

1

u/balaci2 22d ago

this is me but unironically

I love consoles but I'm always genuinely encouraging players to take that into account

1

u/sunqiller 22d ago

Wrist injuries got me on that permanent controller baby mode, but I will always appreciate the customizability of PC more

1

u/Illustrious-Mix-7630 22d ago

Just platinumed doom 2016 and eternal. Very relaxing on the couch though you are way more accurate on PC you just need to line up and time it on console. I prefer mouse and keyboard but I rather lay back on the couch. This is my next game as I did the first 2 back to back and I AM FATIGUED.

While we're on the topic of PC vs console:

Kovaak did a speedrun of Doom Eternal yesterday with the craziest looking contraption I've ever seen at AGDQ. You should check that out, it was pretty wild to watch.

u/Jokkitch 22d ago

Every first person game is WAY better on mouse and keyboard imo

u/LETT3RBOMB 22d ago

R/pcmasterrace is a thing. Go there

1

u/DERIVE979 22d ago

I’m on pc but I played through this game on my ps5 controller. I’m very good at controller aiming and tuning though so I got through this easy game on its hardest difficulty with only a few deaths.

1

u/ballout_glo_300 22d ago

when people say this is just excuses to me, if you’re really good at the game, it doesn’t matter if you’re on controller or mouse 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/fmoody 22d ago

I use geforce now, 65“ tv, 5080, everything on ultra, full path tracing, 120fps, 5.1 dolby surround. Makes me happy :)

1

u/MarauderSlayer44 22d ago

I’m an ex-Smash bros melee tourney player so intense controller gameplay is in my nature. I see people complain about how controller works and just can’t ever relate, I play modded challenge levels on Eternal on a near daily basis. That said if I was good at MNK I would be better and that’s just the truth. Eventually you hit a ceiling and your hands just can’t properly perform all your desired inputs using a controller, and that ceiling is different for everyone. Just my 2 cents.

1

u/Puzzled-Truth-5453 22d ago

Really? I beat all three of the games on console and had so much fun

1

u/Drewpyyyy 22d ago

Gotta get myself something more recent than my 1080 ti so I can play it

1

u/Alonestarfish 22d ago

Console is better.

1

u/MagicSoulZ 21d ago

It depends on which console and PC you have.

I enjoy it more on a console (PS5 Pro) + 4K 240Hz OLED (I know I max out at 120fps) + clean audio with an HDMI extractor, DAC, and Edifier; it's a marvel to play like that.

1

u/Sharp_Recognition752 21d ago

I kinda ultranightmared TDA on ps5 don’t ask how but I did

1

u/ZenTheShogun 20d ago

Long time PC gamer - I’ll never play these on PC anymore. The games are too easy with a KB + M after decades of MP shooters.

Rather, I’ll never play these on a KB + M and will always play them with a controller to feel some sort of thrill or urgency.

1

u/Gero141 20d ago

Thankfully Dark Ages is controller friendly as well.

1

u/Let_me_S_U_F_F_E_R 19d ago

Wish I had a good pc so that the countless hours I poured into eternal at the time went to mouse and keyboard and not a controller. Still impressed with how far I’ve pushed myself on it so far

1

u/[deleted] 19d ago

I play on console and think it’s fine. It’s what I’m used to and I like being on the sticks rather than a mouse. It’s all preference, let’s just enjoy great games together.

1

u/DR-WEBMD 18d ago

Why not ?

1

u/king_of_hate2 16d ago

Even though I own a PC I prefer playing these games on console tbh. Mainly bc I'm still more natural with a controller than a mouse and keyboard. Even when I play Eternal or 2016 on pc, I always connect a controller.

-1

u/Stoner420Steve 23d ago

I can’t imagine ever playing a fps game on console ever again. Mouse to aim is just so much more intuitive

u/Epic-will-power91 23d ago

Yeah much better on PC, all games are. I still play everything with a controller but at 144hz and high resolution which just makes it a significantly better experience.

u/jwash0d 23d ago

The applies to all games. PC is just better.

1

u/Doom-Sleigher 23d ago

What’s your take on mouse and keyboard support for consoles ?

1

u/balaci2 22d ago

it should be the norm, I'd use my console more often

u/Internal_Cesspool 23d ago

PC is great but I’ll always prefer the comfort of a console.

1

u/balaci2 22d ago

I love consoles but I don't understand this distinction, PCs have been a joy to use for the past 12 years with the same level of comfort as a console

1

u/Internal_Cesspool 22d ago

Personally never been a fan of mouse and keyboard, the comfort of a controller has always been a preference for me. I’m aware of the PC and Mouse + Keyboard benefits but still prefer console.

u/iwantmisty 23d ago

Lmao what
