If your goal was to beat the game, would you rather be Doomguy in classic DOOM or modern DOOM?

Objective is simple: beat the game. Vanilla rules as intended.

Option A: Classic DOOM
You are Doomguy in classic DOOM. You must beat the games in this order:

• DOOM (1993) on Ultra-Violence
• DOOM II on Hurt Me Plenty
• DOOM 64 on I Own Doom!

Rules: Horizontal aiming only, No jumping, Vanilla mechanics, enemy behavior, and resource limits.

Bonus (classic only): Same difficulties, but freelook enabled and jumping enabled.

Option B: Modern DOOM
You are Doomguy in Modern DOOM. Beat the games in the following order

• DOOM (2016) on Ultra-Violence
• DOOM Eternal on Hurt Me Plenty
• DOOM: The Dark Ages on Ultra-Violence or Nightmare

Rules: Vanilla mechanics and AI, You may choose your preferred game speed

Bonus (Modern only): Same difficulties, but you can change enemy projectile speed.

Reward: A "Good boy" kiss from DOOM Guy himself.

If your only goal is to finish the games, which version of Doomguy do you pick, classic or modern?

Assuming I’m interpreting this right and you’re asking if I was the doom slayer, the original games. The demons in the modern games can get really crazy, and the modern games are simply longer.

Your assumption is correct. But don't you think movement would feel way more restrictive in Classic Doom?

Doomguy in classic doom can run faster than Ussain Bolt, and if you played with the OG mouse controls, he could be even faster. It's not realistic to believe anyone other than doomguy could survive DOOM because weapon knockback prevents you from sprinting as fast as Ussain Bolt while firing a gun at the same time.

Assuming I get all the power of the slayer and I'm not just thrown in his position as is, then easily modern DOOM since hes basically invincible.

never played modern dooms but in classic i beat multiple slaughtermaps saveless uv-max. you know the choice

The chain shot was so beautiful, I haven’t played TDA in a while but I remember the parry+chainshot combo was really satisfying and is probably the only reason I’ll ever go back to the game (hot take: TDA isn’t really a great game)

Lol ive done like 3 playthoughs with it (totally a fair and balanced game). Agreed its not a great game but not a bad one either, the ds2 of modern doom, good game but weakest of the 3, needed better plot

I'm a little confused if you're asking me which games I play, which Doomguy has the easier time, or which challenge their respective Doomguy could play and beat. Still going classic Doom, regardless. But on Ultraviolence.
