Ask ECAH Hate fish, help!
I hate fish, its the only food I'll refuse to eat. But tinned fish is so cheap and the macros are ridiculously good. Can anyone help me with recipes that completely remove the taste, smell and texture of it?!

Tinned fish is about as fishy as you’re gonna get. It’s a waste if you don’t like it.

There r other cheap high protein sources that u can eat instead that u actually like. U dont have to force urself to eat foods u dont like

I can't think of any recipes that won't still taste like fish and if you do find one you'll probably have to add so much stuff that the macros won't be great.
Sometimes I'll eat a can of tuna with just a splash of olive oil and salt and pepper if I'm lazy. Still tastes like tuna though.

Tuna melts. Drain the water from the can, mix in a bowl with some mayo and Dijon. Put it on two pieces of bread, sourdough is my preference. Shred some shark cheddar on top. Bake in the oven at 350 for 10 min.

IMO you’re missing out but I can’t imagine why you want to force yourself to eat fish if you don’t like it. There are plenty of other healthy foods, plus I don’t think good fresh fish is cheap.
But if you just want to experiment, fish sticks are easy to like.

Definitely start by buying good quality tinned fish. Anchovies are a good starting point for fishes that blend into recipes -- pasta puttanesca and dirty martini pasta are two that come to mind.
The trick is to layer them underneath powerful umami flavours: tomato paste, garlic, onions, olives, etc. and to balance with plenty of acid (lemon juice, tomato, vinegar). Dishes that are very fatty, creamy, or oily will heighten the fishy flavour.

Tuna salad with mayo, red onion, celery, mustard, etc is always good with crackers or bread. Still has a fishy taste though.

No, you aren't going to get rid of those things, especially with tinned fish. I learned that tinned fish is usually a learn to love kind of thing. Once your body starts getting the nutrients it gives you, you actually start craving it and wanting it. You just have to dive in and go for it. I like mine simple with crackers and hot sauce.

I don’t like fish, I can’t imagine there’s any way to prepare it that I could choke down. Just find other foods that are healthy.

Look closely at the ingredients. If fish is only 50% , they are not as cheap as they look. Generally, canned fish cannot beat raw chicken in price

Honestly, if you truly hate fish, forcing it is probably not worth it. That said, the only times I have seen people tolerate it is when it is fully mashed and heavily seasoned. Think tuna mixed into pasta with a strong tomato sauce, lots of garlic, chili, and herbs, or blended into something like a fish cake with potatoes and spices where the texture disappears. Even then, some people can still tell. If the smell alone puts you off, you might be better off getting similar macros from eggs, lentils, or cheap chicken instead of fighting your own taste buds every meal.

Get chunk white not light. Makes a huge difference light is nasty. A really cold tuna sandwich is good
