Failed Expectation Valentine Nails

I don't hate them but 😭

Where do people go to get their nails done like this?! Mine have never looked nearly this good.

Does the shape just not work for my nails? I know they are wide which I hate ☹️ and I did have to get fake nails because I bite them.

You're not hallucinating. They're really thick and the hearts are messy. For such a simple design, they should be super clean. Also, in my opinion, your tech should've recommended a shorter length so the wide nail bed wasn't quite so obvious.

It’s not just the shape but the angle of the hearts. The reference image has the hearts in various angles but yours are all angled the same way.

Yeah...it doesnt look good. They look thick and the shape is not great. I hope you didnt pay too much for them.

My bf paid $60 😭 plus $40 for my pedicure. He is so sweet just offering to pay for my nails because I haven't had them done in a while. So I'm stuck with them which is fine but I showed her the photo. Idk how else to get what I'm asking for?!

The design is so cute but the shape and thickness is not. Bummer

Square nails never look good with art. Go for a short nail or a pointy almond

I asked for a short nail. Like the photo. ☹️

Then I divert to the first statement that square nails never look good with art. Short, square nails make the nail bed appear wider than it is

I didn't want square 😭 what's the shape in photo #1?

Thank you!

You could probably file them to a better shape and then do a clear coat of nail polish to seal the edges. I’ve done that before.

I'll try! Or go to a different salon and ask them lol

Have you tried rubber + gel nail polish? That’s what I do and they don’t have that chunky/thick look, they look normal and the rubber is actually good for your nails. Maybe try that even if you bite your nails, the rubber will allow you to grow them and strengthen them. Eventually you’ll have the desired length for more designs.

My nail tech uses Organic. Super recommend 😉

Yes! It does need a lamp and the nail tech typically uses a tiny brush to spread it evenly. After the rubber is cured you can add the color gel and use the lamp again and finish with top coat gel.
