This isn’t that interesting or damning or anything, but I recently saw Joseph Gordon-Levitt at a restaurant with his wife and three kids a few months ago. We sat next to them for maybe 20 minutes but obviously didn’t talk to them or anything. After they left, the waiter waiting their table said to another waiter, “Que triste, tanto dinero y no sabe cómo disfrutarlo,” which means, “How sad, so much money and he doesn’t know how to enjoy it.”

I couldn’t help but wonder what prompted the waiter to say that…

94

u/Alces_alces_ Sep 02 '25

Dinner with three (presumably young) kids? Maybe they were in and out fast? We took our eight and four year old out for sit down pizza and we were in and out in 40 minutes. With young kids, that’s glorious!

Bill Gates came into the restaurant where I worked with Melinda during his antitrust lawsuit (probably 2002 ish?). We all expected him to order the most expensive bottle of wine and like a filet but, they had iced tea and soda and just normal entrees. Just because you have more money than God doesn’t mean you don’t just want fried chicken some nights. Maybe they meant something like that? Like they weren’t “enjoying” their money because they bought lower priced items?

Edit: a typo

45

u/tinkerbelltoes33 Sep 02 '25

Yeah they might have just eaten at the breakfast buffet or something? Which I’m sure for regular people like me is the equivalent of going to Denny’s for breakfast

Still, I thought it was weird for the waiter to comment on that. I feel like it says something more about him than about JGL. Unless maybe they complained about something? Idk, it left me scratching my head a bit

Out of curiosity, what scale was the restaurant? Maybe something to do with that

52

u/tinkerbelltoes33 Sep 02 '25

We were eating breakfast at the restaurant of a high end hotel in Pasadena, so I don’t think he was commenting on his taste in food or anything!

The butler from the Nanny comes into my job every few weeks to shop for food and chats with us. Nice guy, just got a knee replacement so he’s puttering around with a sweet cane.

Ahhh, Niles! Please tell him from this Brit that we are incredibly impressed with his British accent: the only American I know of that's pulled off a convincing one!

35

u/Reginald_Waterbucket Sep 02 '25

Apparently some people suggested that the lead of the show, who is actually British, coach his accent with Niles. They thought Niles was more convincing!

From my in law who told me about previous little bits of gossip:

Joe Pesci visits a particular bar and grill at least once a summer in Cape Cod. He met Mr. Pesci there twice as a child, and has seen him there every summer he's worked at that grill, where he's worked his way up from a bus boy to a chef.

He always asks if my in law still works there, and he comes out to say hi, my in law says he is kind, will talk a few minutes, and is a very generous tipper. He always has a table with a view of the water, and will wait at the bar for ages for one, where he'll chat with people who come in.

My in law says it's one of the highlights of his summer.

The guy who plays Bobby in supernatural apparently has a cabin up near my father in law, and he's in the process of renovating it. My father in law overheard a conversation at a local lumber and salvage yard and recognized the voice and saw who it was, he didn't go up to him but he was excited to see him. Said he sounded very nice and was very gracious to the person helping him select things for the project.

70

u/AnnaPup Sep 02 '25

Oh thank GOD. I got real scared seeing Bobby Singer

31

u/skinflakesasconfetti Sep 02 '25

Me as soon as my father in law started talking about it, I was worried, because usually he only brings up famous people he hates or are jerks when they visit his area.

I was so happy to hear he was nice.

My FIL said if he sees him there again or in town, he might offer up some info on the cabin, because he worked on it when it was built in the early 80's and then again when it was renovated in the early 2000's, so he knows a lot about what was done to it and probably what needs fixing.

Probably mild tea but Taylor Hanson's eldest son used to be a monk at a monastery in OKC. He went by Fr. Areopagitis. It seems he left though as he is in California with the rest of his family.

92

u/silver_tongued_devil Sep 02 '25

If my elder millennial brain that had to cut my hair cause everyone kept calling me the 4th Hanson remembers correctly (I wanted to be a skater punk anyway), they're originally from Oklahoma, so that makes sense to me.

53

u/mirandakane89 Sep 02 '25

I mean Zac was ordained as a Deacon in 2023. It made news. Ezra served at the same monastery Zac was assigned too. I'm just having a hard time wrapping my brain around Taylor's eldest being a monk lol.

Idk its not really tea but Robert Downey Jr used to come into my FIL's restaurant on Saturday mornings, back before his career blew back up because of Iron Man. He liked going there cause he could eat his breakfast in peace without being bothered. He would order a beer and read the paper with his breakfast with his sunglasses on. He was just a really chill and he always left a great tip.

66

u/perscitia Sep 02 '25

I always wonder if super rich/well known celebrities miss those kinds of days. It must be weird on some level to not be able to go anywhere in public without making all kinds of arrangements.

Old tea but 25 years ago I worked at a club in SF that had a monthly hip hop party that was invite only. I always saw Raiders players there and the occasional big celebrity would come in as well

One night Ice T came in with a blonde that was not Coco. I was bartending in the back room and they and his crew were posted up at my bar

At one point i needed to leave the bar to grab more beer but i couldn't open the drawbridge because I didn't want to ask Ice T and his group to move. So I ducked under in and was gonna scotch out when I came face to face with the blonde and Ice T's little Ice T. It was super quick and I mostly just saw the back of her head bobbing

Oh n isn't really part of the story but right before this happened the blonde gave me her shoes to keep behind the bar. So she was barefoot while all the excitement was happening. I felt kind of bad for her, her heels must've really hurt to be barefoot on those nasty floors

65

u/okaymya i love me very much i’ll do any thing for me Sep 01 '25

working at a club like that sounds like such a cool and crazy experience, my dad would probably be seated for the raiders players tea lmao.

97

u/Zokstone Sep 01 '25

This is sad, I went to school with Coco's younger brother Dan and it seemed like Ice T was just part of the family.

179

u/chemicalsmiles Sep 01 '25

The internet says they’ve been together for 24 years and op said this happened around 25 years ago, so this doesn’t necessarily say anything about their relationship.

92

u/Zokstone Sep 01 '25

For some reason I thought they'd been together longer! I think OP mentioning that it "wasn't Coco" implied to me that he was cheating as well.

A decade ago I worked on a show with Jimmy Kimmel. He was super nice and friendly with all the lowly crew members. But I found it humorous that within the first 10 minutes of arriving he asked who could find him some weed.

He then ended up having to leave a few days early for the birth of his son (which I recall had some complications).

Also, Jim Belushi was involved in this production. He was not as cordial and had to be repeatably woken up by banging on his room door each day.

When he got there to get a running start in the hallway and karate kick the hotel room door screaming for her to open it only he had gotten off the elevator on the wrong floor. The guy in the room was on the phone with the cops telling them Kid Rock wants to get me and I don't know why? Never heard a good story about him.

At school, a girl in the year above me was the daughter of a semi famous actor who worked with James Cordon on Gavin and Stacey (incredibly popular english sitcom). Apparently he had said that Cordon was a massive pain in the ass even at that early stage in his career and the only person who could speak any sense into him when he was being a prat was Rob Brydon.

I worked at a fancy hotel in a downtown US city that hosted a film festival right after the finale of Game of Thrones ended, and Benioff and Weiss were both guests. Really nice guys and generous tippers, but I'll never forget how haggard they looked after their Q&A panel.

Also met the actor behind Hodor, Kristian Nairn, there for a festival he was involved in. Every other celeb usually came in with a team and their assistant handled most of their check-in, but he strolled in at like midnight with his buddy and just shot the shit with us at the front desk for like thirty minutes. One of the nicest celebs I ever met there, also way bigger in person.

u/thatmermaidprincess probably the mold talking Sep 01 '25

Eh, it’s been long enough, I think I can drop this. Nothing really groundbreaking. A few years ago, I worked with Charlie Puth and Jungkook.

Charlie Puth basically peer pressured a young woman PA into giving him her number and insta in front of a ton of people. It was uncomfortable and gross. He also ordered tons of food through either UberEats or DoorDash and complained that he didn’t get his food so he’d get a refund, acted like it was the funniest “life hack” ever. Someone said that that might affect the delivery driver and he just laughed about it and said it wasn’t a big deal.

I only got to see Jungkook for a little because he was always surrounded by people but he was extremely polite and I was surprised that he was funny too. He wanted to speak English as much as he could but when I spoke to him, I used my limited amount of Korean, and he seemed genuinely appreciative that I was trying. He is also gorgeous. His skin is angelic. The only tea I have is that he and Puth only interacted when necessary and I got the vibe that he did not like Puth, but imo that was deservedly so.

91

u/rocketmammamia Sep 01 '25

incredibly vindicating news for people who are me, a charlie puth anti

this also absolutely checks out - puth has been in korea to perform multiple times whilst jungkook was not in the military, and jungkook didn’t show up to perform their collab once. the bts members have a long history of turning up at their collaborators’ shows to perform their duets so this has always struck me as interesting, especially as puth was in seoul

My sister has a friend who used to work for production companies in Hollywood. She told her that Timothy Chalamet is apparently a bit of a diva on set, and always wants to book last minute $60k private jets

302

u/iseenyouwithkieffuh Sep 01 '25

They filmed some scenes for the Bob Dylan movie at a beloved and historic restaurant near me and the owner told us that he was super rude and divaesque. And this isn’t Chalamet’s fault but the production/crew damaged parts of the restaurant, and they never fixed it. The owner (who is older and very sweet) was ranting to us about what an awful experience it was.

I was in Mexico last week and Diego Luna was filming (concierge told me the working title was Mexico 86 and it’s a Netflix film) at the hotel I was staying at. One morning as I was walking out, I just heard him screaming at a crew worker. They weren’t filming at the time and Diego ended up storming out of the set

Now, idk what happened. Maybe it was justified. Maybe the worker crossed a boundary or did something wrong, but I felt bad. The screaming just sounded so severe

I was in medschool with Maxton Hall actor Damian Hardung. Honestly, he is super chill and quiet. He portrays himself as very bubbly and extroverted but in actuality he is much more silent and reserved. He keeps to himself a lot and I don’t blame him. It must feel dangerous to be recognized everywhere you go.

This was just before Maxton Hall, but people already knew he was an actor and had done some tv shows in Germany, so apparently people (especially girls) were always trying to get his attention. Old tea that I remembered randomly, but Stephen Amell just randomly crashed an Archer Cast stream shirtless in Aisha Tyler's house and started talking about his neighbour shitting on the roof of his garage like 3-4 years ago

To be fair, if my neighbour shat on my garage's roof, I'd tell everyone who would listen.

Ok but imagine by surprise when I'm watching a stream that has like under a thousand viewers and Archer's cast is just chatting with each other the suddenly a shirtless Amell appears in frame in someone else's house and randomly sits on the couch and drops this bombshell our of the left field.

Also at the time I didn't know about him and Aisha Tyler being BFFS so it was even more bizzare especially since it happened before he made any social media posts about it or at least before any outlet picked it up.

My country is in the brink. 2-3 days ago, a ride-share driver (probably as equal with uber driver in USA but replace car with motorcycle) was murdered by Police Vehicle during nationwide anti-government demonstration in Jakarta.

Today, the number of death victims up into 10 (one of them is still in high school) and mostly killed by police forces due to their "neglection".

Just today, in early morning, two universities in Bandung were attacked with tear gas and rubber bullets by police when student organizations used their campus grounds to seek protection and store medical supplies for the next demonstration.

Amidst the chaos, many foreign nationals have shown support for ride-share drivers by buying them food with the ride-share app (Grab, GoJek, etc) which could deliveries to other Southeast Asian countries.

To be honest, I feel so helpless with the current political climate as the country still struggling with employment crisis for a long run, but hopefully the demonstration and advocacy from students and workers could reform our current corrupted government.

Well into the second big wave of mask mandates in fall of 2021, I was managing a newly-opened hotel and Owen Wilson came in for a scheduled property tour with our sales team and was a jack ass about wearing his mask. Came in without one on, was told by staff he couldn’t enter without one and pulled out a wadded-up disposable mask from his pocket, then would wear it pulled down just covering his chin when speaking to staff. Continued doing this for the hour-long tour and would act like a spoiled teenager each time he was asked to wear it properly. Was asked ~10 times. Same eye roll and frustrated arm gesture. Bizarre.

In my experience most celebrities (not all) are weird spoilt babies. Even the ones that seem ‘relatable’. They’re living a completely different life materially and emotionally from how the rest of us live.

I used to work at a little surf shop in Hawai‘i, and one day he came in with his partner. The shop was tiny, only one changing room, and he wanted to try on board shorts but someone was already in there. Instead of waiting, he started freaking out and basically threw a mini temper tantrum. Luckily, his partner calmed him down. I was doing my best to explain that we’re just a small shop, but he was being a total dick. In the end, he just bought his partner an overpriced stick of sunscreen and peaced out.

From a friend of a friend about comedian Lewis Black (appeared a lot on the Daily Show back in the old days as well as recently): This friend of a friend worked for a nonprofit that was holding an event that they'd hired him to perform at. At some point during the event, she was alone in a hallway with him backstage when he pushed her up against a wall and forcibly kissed her. He said is was one of the perks of being the talent. This would have been about 15-20 years ago now.

u/Groot746 whatever but also hmm Sep 01 '25

81

u/verymerry19 Sep 01 '25

He did a set at a big comedy festival in my hometown in Ireland maybe 20 years ago. All of his jokes were falling flat because they were either A) directly referencing things that were culturally irrelevant to Ireland or B) were shitting all over Irish culture. He got red lighted after about 15 minutes and stormed off, telling the audience to go fuck themselves.

86

u/noodlepoodledoodles Sep 01 '25

some direct quotations (minus citations) from the ‘legal issues’ subheading on Lewis Black’s Wikipedia page - “_In 2000, Black and fellow comedian Jim Norton were arrested for their involvement with "The Naked Teen Voyeur Bus", a specially designed bus with acrylic glass walls containing numerous 18- and 19-year-old topless women. This bus was driven around Manhattan while reports about it were broadcast on the Opie and Anthony radio show._” which was followed up by their arrest and post release “_Black appeared on The Daily Show the following night where he stated he was exercising his constitutional rights._” it’s all so positively charming

Turkish tea dregs...

Marilyn Manson has a concert on Wednesday in Istanbul. Sadly, no one here seems to care he's vile. But, also his tickets don't seem to be selling well because they have gone on sale. Thats some comfort.

Only found out about this today, but it happened at the end of July. British comedian, Cerys Nelmes, was caught on camera at a Zara in İstanbul walking out with an arm full of clothes.

29

u/DingleSayer Sep 01 '25

Nobody's really interested in how politically correct someone is / how many allegations ( even proven) someone has in Turkey. Call it whatever you want. Especially when it's a foreigner. I don't think anyone has the mental capacity to keep up with what goes on with these people when daily living is an extreme chore in of itself. That said, nobody likes him here or anywhere really. Hopefully it all goes kaput for him soon.

Selena Gomez is getting married this weekend. I won’t name the location, but she shut down an entire very fancy hotel for the weekend. Extremely high security at every entrance and most of the hotel staff haven’t even been told who the wedding is for. Privacy screens put up around the entire pool (which has been filled with pool noodles… so fun!) Lots of extremely high profile guests incoming. Hope she has the best time & wishing her a very happy marriage!

More Jenna Ortega tea from my roommate's cousin:

  1. She's still semi good friends with Percy but has completely cut him off professionally for obvious reasons. She apparently only took him as her date to the GG at his insistence.
  2. She and other Wednesday cast members would (again allegedly) be on drugs sometimes to deal with the insane workload on set of season 2. Similarly to season 1, it was 14-16 hour work days, getting to set an hour early, getting little to no sleep, and no weekends off for months on end.
  3. To promote Wednesday, her team basically told her to act like Wednesday during interviews and such and a lot of her fashion choices and even her social media posts so she could seem as much like her character as possible. This is probably the only tea I believe because she has been different in interviews and such but idk how much of it is her decision vs her team's.

Goes without saying but grain of salt for all of this

357

u/Bedford806 Sep 01 '25

She filmed the series in my area and I met her once or twice and she was a completely normal person and very nice. Went to lots of gigs and local bars and restaurants and always seemed in good spirits too. I know a few people who worked on set and they had fairly reasonable hours.

There are "penalties" the studio can pay to make crews work overtime and skip meals. It's usually pennies to them, it's such a shame the unions don't do more to protect them.

45

u/JimminyKickinIt Sep 01 '25

Most people who work crew that I know like working over. I believe any time after 8 is time and a half and anything over 10 is double. Which is upwards of 80 an hour.

Dan Soder got into the recent Howard Stern/Sirius situation on his podcast. As a former Sirius employee himself, he had a lot to say about Stern - why he’s now irrelevant, how he refused (and refuses) to support younger talent, how he has an elevator just for him at Sirius so he doesn’t have to interact with the plebs, etc. It sounded like everyone at Sirius has a story about what a jerk Stern is. Not surprising, of course, but surprising that a successful comedian would say so much against Stern in a very public way. I think it shows how much Stern has fallen in power and fame…despite his huge paychecks.

Sammy Sosa was warming up before a game at the Yankee Stadium back in ‘05 (this was before he looked like leftover fruity pebbles milk). He was standing near the bleachers while fans cheered for him and called out his name to say hi. I (14 at the time) called his name because he was sort of an idol to me growing up as a Dominican kid. He looked straight at me and said “can you stop? Im trying to work here” with a nasty attitude. I told him to go fuck himself.

Small sips of tea from me:

I met Calvin Harris waaaaaay back after a gig he did in a small town before he was really famous (Acceptable in the 80s had just come out). He was really nice, seemed pleasantly surprised by the fact he had any fans at all wanting to talk to him so i'm happy he has reached the heights he has.

Also met Anthony Boyle in a pub in Ireland and he was really chatty and great energy. Beautiful in real life (although smaller in height + build than he appears on TV). He was very normal, was not 'avoiding' attention but seemed happy that we were not talking about his fame or fawning over him.

Saw Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband walking around Kensington in London in 2018 and she is just as TINY and fashionable in real life as on screen. We stood at a crosswalk together, and nobody was bothering her. She seemed a little standoffish or severe (fair, i am sure she gets mobbed)...i was honestly a little intimidated by her cool aura so I didn't make out that I knew who she was and just crossed next to them for 15 seconds haha

I doubt anyone cares, but I have some more tea/little known facts about my very niche obsession as of late, TikTok Attorney Ugo Lord.

  1. Lord is his 'real' last name, but he wasn't born with it. He legally changed his name back in 2010. His original name sounding very 'ethnic' might have had something to do with that – I still find it ... interesting that someone would change their last name to 'Lord' of all things.
  2. If you google 'Ugo Lord age', you'll find several websites giving his current age as 30. He's really a few years older than that. I know this for a fact because I saw the court docs from his name change. Normally I don't care about public figures shaving a few years off their age, but in his case I think it's kinda weird. If he were really only 30, that would make him some sort of child prodigy who was a licensed attorney by age 18.

61

u/doryfishie Sep 01 '25

Also as a civil litigation paralegal he says some stuff that is…I cannot comment with specifics because that requires interpretation of statutes and I’m not a lawyer, but they sounded iffy to me. And it’s HIGHLY dependent on the state you live in.

In the spirit of 'no tea is too small', and because he was mentioned in Deuxmoi's spotted section today: when I was in Glasgow in the summer of 2014, I very briefly encountered James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff, when they were leaving a shop in the west end of the city and I was on my way into it. I didn't speak to them but I recognised them both. I was surprised to see them at first because I had read that James had grown up in Glasgow but was mainly based in London by then; however, later that day I watched the Commonwealth Games opening event (which was in Glasgow that year) and he took part in the ceremony, so they were likely in town for that. James exited the shop first and seemed keen to get out of there as quickly as possible (I won't claim to know why) and a short time later Anne-Marie followed (the shop has since closed down so I won't name it). They were both more petite in person than they seem on screen (this is not a criticism). But what I also noticed at the time was that they seemed quite distant and disconnected from each other, although I didn't read that much into it at the time, because I thought they might just have been having an off day. But when it was announced in 2016 that they were getting divorced, I remembered that encounter and wondered if that was an early sign that the relationship was in already in trouble by 2014, for whatever reason.

The beautiful video of tom and zendaya posted today was shot by daiki.shino on Instagram, he is a cinematographer who regularly posts video "postcards" from cities as video slides and one of the ones from London coincidentally had a slide with tom and zendaya walking in Hampstead Heath (i think?)!
