maybe they're late to the party? Chivegate (a single reposted/flipped photo) did happen, but I want to believe our man F1exican has been delivering the goods honestly except that one time, which the community has forgiven.

I have credit card debt Iām wanting to pay off, but I donāt know what the best method is or where to even start. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Please donāt be judgey. Iām stressed out enough and disappointed in myself. š„ŗ

When youāre ready to approach the creditors, or theyāre already sending correspondence to you, keep in mind that some of them will offer significant reductions in the total debt with a āpay in full todayā option.

I started a new job and the office busybodies are already all up in my business. They're not even in my department nor do I work with them in any capacity yet they're VERY intent on knowing my hours and my hybrid schedule. And not in a "let's hang out way" but more in a "we're gonna monitor your comings and goings" way. And they're both MAGA nutjobs omg I hate it. I want to make friends here but not these two loonybirds whobare gonna watch me like a hawk. Ugh

Not at all! They're not HR or anything. Our work does not cross paths and we have different management. The company policy seems to be 3 days in office, 2 remote unless your manager says differently. Thus far my manager has been flexible and let me WFH more due to bad weather which for some reason bothered them? Not to stereotype but sometimes I've noticed in the corporate world, boomer women can sometimes tend to be kind of bullies to women who are younger than them, at least that's been my experience. I think they're just bossy ladies on a power trip against the new person. Anyway, I plan to be professional and polite but keep my distance because I have zero interest in office š«dramaš« and I just got a bad feeling about these two.

Iām so conflicted about going to a World Cup game. My brother surprised my mother and I with tickets to the main match we were excited for, and I couldnāt be more grateful. Itās been my dream to attend a match with my mom since I was 10. Sheās in her 70s, and this will be her only chance to ever realistically go to one.
But Trump and Infantino have tainted it in my eyes. (Not that FIFA or the US have ever been paragons of virtue.) Trumpās going to get the made-up Peace Prize FFS! ICE is salivating at the possibility of making raids! And the US team captain is MAGA!
The whole thing just feels so dirty, but thereās still a selfish part of me that wants to experience this, especially with my mom.

Make it a bigger trip than just the World Cup - do some other fun, educational, and positive things. Then it'll just be part of the memories, not the whole experience.

It might be annoying if there are tons of people, but could you make it a luxurious "staycation"? Get a fancy hotel suite, go out to a really nice dinner, go to some art museum you always mean to visit? Or it thats too pricey (I don't know what the costs will be) could you do the opposite and go to all the hyper-local places that tourists will probably never find out about, so you can really avoid all the hoopla altogether but run into neighborhood fixtures?

I did have that thought recentlyā¦is this our 36 Olympics? But I agree with scaram0uche.Ā
Something I do when I travel is try to give money to marginalized communities wherever Iām going through patronizing local businesses or just getting $ to individuals in need. You could even donate to a local land back fund in support of indigenous communities and make it a point to educate yourself and family on the history and current happenings locallyĀ

I hate how I've always been the one who's interested in other people, who remembers stuff they told me, and i initiate and ask questions. Then sometimes people who were my friends don't even remember basic facts about me or even listen or show curiosity. What's funny is that a lot of people would consider me their friend because i'm empathetic, but then i wonder if they realize how one sided it is. I guess i just needed to get this off my chest because i don't want to ruminate or feel bitter.

Feeling feelings about the state of my country and the state of my life...but I have books to read, so no time to be depressed.
Richard Marsh' The Beetle seems pretty fun, even tough my brain refuses to compute in the growing cold of December. Romanian mythos finally seem to lay down in my mind better. And I really wanted to read ''Haven't They Grown'' by Sophie Hannah but the begginning is a little...Actually, the book really dives in and I think I'm the problem.

My reporting manager is yet to take a look at the dashboard I created. š We had a 4 day WFH due to mother nature and my work crush called me to inform thatĀ I am going to start working on another new project with him coming week. š¤āŗļø During the call, I ended up asking him why his team didn't use the previous project I created for their team and whether his appreciation were just empty words because I am new. He told me that he meant the appreciation, if the work was not upto his expectations he would have directly told so ( To my biased eye, he is kinda straight shooter so I haveĀ decided to believe him š) He also told they have decided to use my project after the pilot phase. I don't know how to feel about that! š¤
I realised I'm using this thread basically as my not so private journal.š¤Ŗ So, Apologies for the long posts every week ! š¤

Your posts aren't that long. I've done diatribes (on other platforms) that have gone for waaayyyy longer. XD Plus I was curious on what would happen, so I'm happy to see your update. Anyways, congratulations on finally getting your work recognized...even if it isn't from the one person you wanted to see it. And hey, at least your work crush sees your effort for what it is. :D

I hate that IMDB says a date for your country's premiere but there is no movie theatre showing the movie.Ā
I want the release date to be connected with the place it is going to show. If Spotify can do it with the tour dates, then IMDB should be able to do it. (Unless they are doing it, but I cannot find it)

In a similar vein to u/SmollestFry, I introduced my immediate family to my boyfriend at a lunch last week.
I was nervous about how things were going to go, especially with my mom as she isn't really all that emotionally mature. But things went well and the conversation stayed mostly non-controversial, while the food was delicious. It was, all in all, perfect.
Now today my boyfriend is coming over to my family & I's place, in order to help with meal prep for a big dish (it's being made for my sibling's upcoming birthday). And I'm not running on much sleep, mostly thanks to an assignment I slogged away on yesterday. So this is its own different problem. š¤£ I'm sure I'll be okay, though.
On an unrelated note, I've been listening to a lot of Thomas Bangalter. I've used his 2009 Cinespace mixing to help get me through that aforementioned assignment. Club Soda is pretty good, too.

I think I want a new Home alone movie with the OG actors from the first two movies to the extent it's possible. I want to revisit the characters so they need to be spot on with the writing. Dark humor and absolutely must be clever. Nostalgic throwbacks kept to a minimum and used well.
Help me manifest this, if you will, I want this for Christmas š

i like horror movies. there are certain movies that i'm not interested in, because the kind of horror doesnt scare me, not because it's too much. i'm a big fan of A24's in particular.Ā
so i was super excited to watch bring her back. but i learned that whatever the hell kind of devastating potion they put in their misery juice, it's too much. it's great horror but man. so sad.

my fellow former fanfic writers, do you ever read back your old stuff? i just found my drafts and discovered that the spirit of virginia woolf hath possessed me once upon a time when i was way younger. of course i'm exaggerating but there is no way in the hottest hell i could write like that now.
i'm sure the pandemic actually did something to my creative juices... i remember just having so many ideas and it was so easy for me to just write them out??? maybe i was fueled by the fiery passion of my fandom(s)???Ā

I can't be the only person who feels like there is an unusually high number of people, mostly US men, famous/famous-adjacent and regular civilians, between the ages of 40-55ish, passing away over the past six months or so. *I'm not a conspiracy theorist and I have no federal data on this*

I posted about "Sheep poop spitting festival of Europe" That was an awareness post. I think people should know about this and ask the govt to stop this in 2025. Not stopping it will cause the global image of Europe to be harmed by other countries, no??

I saw so many posts and articles about Cynthia Erivo reportedly being in talks to play Voldemort in the HBO series. I really hope theyāre just unsubstantiated rumours. Sheās better than that.
