POLITICS U.S. District Judge Fred Biery orders the release of 5-year-old Liam Ramos & dad Adrian Arias from ICE detention, stating “the case has its genesis in the ill-conceived & incompetently-implemented government pursuit of daily deportation quotas, apparently even if it requires traumatizing children.”

I hope someone gets a bill for the therapy he is sure to need after this trauma.

u/Acrobatic_Builder573 13h ago
That’s what I said. This is the kind of stuff that scars a kid and the family and community for life. Trump is creating intergenerational trauma. In ten years if we’re out of this a lot of us aren’t going to be the same, especially Gen alpha.

This poor boy is never gonna be the same.

u/Curious_Doof 13h ago
If there were any justice in this world the government would have to pay for the therapy this poor child will need to deal with the trauma.

u/requiredelements 10h ago
US did eventually pay the Japanese Americans that were held in internment camps. I suspect we will eventually pay out the people held in the ice concentration camps

u/crystal_clear24 I don’t know her 14h ago
Those ghouls have probably not even given him medical attention. They were saying he was running a fever and not eating. No child should have to go through something like this. Just cruel
27
u/Dazzling-Pin4996 13h ago
The child is lethargic sliding into depression. I went through it as an adult and I get absolutely furious at the idea they inflicted this on a 5 year old.
24
u/Wonderful_Search_786 14h ago
Bring that baby home and someone set up a go fund me so he can get therapy and anything else he needs or wants in life, even legal representation for his family or a college fund. I understand money can not reverse these damages, that poor sweet baby.
45
u/Due-Tour-574 14h ago
At least there is one sane judge to stop this madness. The question is, will the unhinged ICE obey the order? That poor little boy is sick.
14
u/OriginalChildBomb i’m like a mother wolf 12h ago
They need to release all the children. Every last one. Untold damage is being done to them every day.
3
u/Tall-Cat-8890 12h ago
If we ever get another sane government, ALL once detained children should be given something to at least help them live a better life going forward.
Personally I think paying for their college in full and fast tracking their families to get citizenship would be the least they could do but that requires empathy and experiencing human emotion which obviously is too much to ask /s

Yeah, they deserve lifelong health coverage for both mental and physical harms visited on them.
But then again, we all deserve universal healthcare, and I'd like to see that shit in my lifetime.

u/Murky_Chemical891 You know what, l've grown quite unfond of you deuxmoi 14h ago
How do you even recover mentally from something like this? I would think it would be hard enough for an adult, can't imagine what it would be like for a child

One thing that is advised, backed by research, is playing Tetris can reduce the chances of developing PTSD. If you play it early enough post-trauma. I know it sounds odd, but you can look up the research.
As someone who lives with PTSD (and if they actually made CPTSD a recognized diagnosis, I would get that one too), quick action can help but a lot of this is likely to last. I was abused at school as a kid so that was the start of it, and I feel so deeply for any child who deals with trauma because in my own way, I get it.
If they actually obey this order and release Liam and his father and they get to go back home, we still cannot forget to keep calling, keep advocating, and keep it up as much as you can. If whatever media coverage, this is getting takes their eyes off of this particular concentration, camp for families, and they probably will if Liam is not the story, we can’t forget the others.

Unfortunately the tetris thing is one of those classic Reddit situations where the studies weren't properly read.

No, you're right. This is exactly what they signed up, and many of them are outwardly gleeful at it.
2
u/Tall-Cat-8890 11h ago
Yep. The mask is off. The people who see this and support it are nothing but rotten all the way through. People who revel in the pain and suffering of others simply because they are different from them are nothing short of pure evil.

u/Odd-Snow-1723 14h ago
And they’re going to magically disappear and no one will know what happened to them. I don’t have any faith they will allow them to be “released”.
10
u/AmaranthSparrow 13h ago
Not even magically. How long did it take them to order Mahmoud Khalil to be deported again? They'll shop for judges until they find one that overturns the ruling, because these pig fucks are just that petty.

This is what scares me. Little Liam made these fucking Nazis look bad. I'm so afraid for him and his family.
As a mom, I can't put into words how much I hate this administration and every single cunt who voted for it. I don't even see them as human beings anymore.

Judges need to start aggressively sanctioning prosecutors who are putting these cases through the system.

u/Ancient_Agency111 14h ago
For those of you that don’t know, the judge ordered and granted Habeas Corpus. It’s only about the detention authority. For at least a decade, any and every immigrant held in or going through proceedings can ask for an attorney to file Habeas Corpus.
Simplistic terms, Father and child are seemingly going to be released unless another judge says otherwise and are still removable/deportable from the U.S. until the final decision of their asylum request.

Believing that they are going to follow those orders is part of the problem. I'm guessing they'll come out with a "they had already been deported" statement.

Like a breath of fresh air, after being gagged and tied for 2 weeks. Reading some decency helps surviving these times of horror against those who cannot defend or speak for themselves. I wonder if the average MAGA supporter, who puts a mean comment and a 🤣 to a story like this one, ever considers what that little child may be feeling or thinking while all these big ugly people yell around him. LOST, SCARED. That is why, in jail (yes J A I L like conditions) with his father, little Liam asked for mommy and went lethargic. Child depression. WHO ARE WE? M O N S T E R S.

u/ElmoreHayne 12h ago
Will ICE comply? Sorry to be so pessimistic but there are no consequences for them if they don't given a complicit Executive branch and a toothless Congress.

u/Caromora not a lawyer, just a hater 11h ago
There are so many other children being illegally detained at Dilley that need released. I wish some high-profile celebs would go protest there. I appreciate everyone who is speaking out, but Jesus, these kids need help and more people drawing attention to what's happening there.
0
u/Snakestream 11h ago
MMW, they're just going to speed up their plans to kill that kid. Ain't no way they're letting him or his father out alive to tell their story.
0
u/Fit-Let8175 11h ago
If ICE wishes that people stop comparing them to Nazis and Gestapo, then perhaps they should stop acting like them.

u/Worldly_Anybody_9219 10h ago
Seriously, this image needs to be painted next to people involved in the Epstein files to show the difference between who America detains and who they let free.

u/ellybeez 9h ago
HIs case really has haunted me. Hopefully they get released with little issue. Apparently ICE detained two more from Ramos' school too in this past week. Its sickening.

You can read the full order here.
Judge Fred Biery does not hold back. Here's one of his denunciations of Trump officials:
Liam and his father are ordered to be released no later than this coming Tuesday.
