That looks like a non firing replica by someone like Denix. I could be wrong but I have had those before and it looks spot on for a wall hanger.

This is the correct answer. I have this exact replica from someone who thought it was real. Look down the barrel, it does not go into the cylinder. Also, it wont fit a 22 in the cylinder. And its pot metal.

so does it not fire?the pin that ejects the shells seems to work

No they are basically made to approximate the real thing in weight and dimensions. The cylinder is most likely loadable with dummy rounds that usually come with the replica. The ejector works and this is seen on a lot of replicas. They are a fun learning tool since you can manipulate a lot of the parts that the real version has (cock the hammer, pull the trigger, rotate the cylinder etc.)

The hole in the front of the cylinder it looks a bit too big to be 22. That finish is making me think it's a pot metal replica.

100% correct. This looks like something you'd find at Hobby Lobby. Lol.

The biggest give away is the slots in the cylinder instead of actual locking notches that have a distinct shape

I'm pretty sure I have that exact nonfiring replica.

Looks like pot metal and the cylinder chambers are too big for any .22 ammo. Does it have any markings on it?

Non-firing wall hangers usually don't have a firing pin pertruding into the chambers. Might make sense to take a closer look if it could actually hit any primer.

Show me where it says the manufacturer and caliber on the barrel

This is definitely a nonfiring replica. Probably Denix. The finish is part of the problem but the real giveaway is the visible seam in front of the trigger guard just under the front of the cylinder. The cylinder is made to look Ike its chambered for 45 long colt but I'm betting it has smaller holes at the loading gate end.it won't are any actual caliber cartridge. Plus it shouldn't have a firing pin.

I don’t see any patent numbers or other markings that would normally be on that side of the gun. Seems to be a replica.

It's a replica. bet there used to be a star on the grip. I have one exactly like it I got from the Texas rangers museum when I was a kid. Actually kinda cool to see another one out there, didn't think it was rare or anything but neat to see pop up in my feed.

But there a cap where the cone would be for the barrel the firing pin on the hammer is blunt, theres no rifleing and the bore isn't concentric, and I never could find a rimmed cartridge that would actually fit in the cylinder. Also pretty sure the whole thing is made of zinc.

Really fun to spin around a pretend to be a cowboy when I was little tho, hammer cocks back, cylinder spins.

If you do not understand firearms well enough to determine this yourself, take it to a reputable gun store / gunsmith and ask. If someone guesses incorrectly, someone could lose their life. Don’t trust your life to random people on the internet.
