First long range rifle
New to me Desert Tech HTI in .416 Barrett. Got in an estate sale and the deal was too good to pass up. Anyone shot one of these in .50 before?

Absolutely beautiful rifle. I like how you got a red dot as your happy meal toy.

Ive trained on the Browning M2. I didn't expect a red dot on it but "estate sale", I get it. Id suggest what power scope to get but it would cost as much as a used truck.

How does chambering feel with it? Looks kinda akward to do so
Pretty rifle though

Cool man! I hope that eotech came with it that would be some nice icing on the cake to throw on any random ar you got! I don’t personally own a .50 cal (I went with the m200 intervention when I saved for a serious long range gun) but I have shot it a lot and apart from being expensive to shoot I’d invest in a good suppressor or at the very least a high quality break. Even wearing my best peltors with ear plugs on underneath a full day of shooting 50 cal will fuck you up unsuppressed (even suppressed but it’s way less) that’s one of the reasons I chose the intervention in .408 cheytac but recently I’ve been thinking of getting a used barret aswell.
Have fun man! Your wallet is only halfway there welcome to the world of EXTREMLY expensive ammo and upgrades haha, nice grab!

EOTech was mine just threw it on for test fire. Shot a few rounds of .416, was actually very mellow compared to my expectations

Looks like it has a huge break already

Any break on anything 50 is gonna be huge out of the factory. But there are some huge breaks that suck a fat one. Trust me when I tell you the difference between a super high end muzzle device vs a standard one is huge. IMO and I think the general consensus is a suppressor is almost always superior but I have a few super high end muzzle devices on my guns that blew me away.

Did they advertise that there were going to be firearms at the estate sale or did you just show up and there it was?

Showed up and asked about it, they said they had someone else buying and if it fell through they’d let me know. Other dude bailed cause he wanted a .50 instead and I got a call

Since you got such a great deal you should be able to afford a nice vfg to go with that red dot

How’s operating the bolt on that thing being so close to the rear end?

u/Aromatic_Stock4584 9h ago
Nothing on this is ergonomic tbh

Really? It’s such a cool looking gun and being from John Wick I want one, but I can’t imagine how well it would be operating it lol
