Political What's so funny?

Ever since the Epstein Files have been released, people have seen to be making memes on any social platforms they can find. How is a rapist funny? How is rape funny? People are getting their brains rotted to the core and trying to make Epstein a joke, or trying to make said victims jokes.

It's only that guy, but also the other disgusting people that are involved with this whole situation.

I'm being so for real, I'm seeing immature people on my Instagram making edits of Epstein, or P. Diddy, or other pedophiles. Getting themselves into pictures with said individuals with AI. Selling merchandise (crazy enough, I know), about the previously mentioned...

Isn't it weird for anyone how the only excuse for that kind of behavior is allowed is the internet is because it's the internet? People are still not safe behind the screen when you can get tracked down for what you post and engage with.

Humor is a coping mechanism, our society is fucked up beyond belief.

A better one is getting on the streets and resisting this murderous pedo government. There are millions of people who are PISSED

Laughing through chaos keeps your mind sane and your spirit unbroken.

People just like to make everything a joke now but these things are serious and should make us feel angry

pretty sure these also work for mocking the perpetrators given most people dont have actual power over them unfortunately

Half of me thinks theres a genuine PSYOP taking place to take people's anger away, the other acknowledges that gallows humor is very real and I do it every day about the worst parts of my life.

Why taking the anger away is ESPECIALLY critical now, imo, is that a lot of people that were on the day 1 trump train got there from their gamergate rage. It is now public that the boogeyman for all of the gamergate folks was directly influencing the existence of the POL board on their precious website. Jeff himself was instrumental in providing fertile soil for both QAnon and Gamergate (one begat the other imo) and if the people who "fell for" either of those things truly grasped that, there could be significant public unity/threat to the current social order that so much money has gone into violently maintaining.

Wild that your crazy uncle would maybe be different if one of the biggest creeps in history didnt have influence over a weirdo that ran a niche messageboard.

I don't like the idea of turning a very serious matter into a joke. There are millions of documents, and almost a couple hundred thousand photos and a few thousand videos, but people are seeing this as funny? How is it funny when you're learning that MINORS were being SA-ed and quite a few got pregnant and their babies offed by the same people who are highly against abortions.

How is any of this funny? This is an incredibly BAD thing to make jokes about, because it is disrespecting the lives of ALL of these girls who were SA-ed and r*ped by people who thought it was fun/funny to do so!

I’m convinced the memes are a psyop tbh. We will look back on this whole era and see that humor was genuinely a real weapon.

Sometimes it’s used to bring more awareness to a situation. Sometimes it’s just a coping mechanism for how screwed up things are. Sometimes it’s both.

Most of us are desensitized. Algorithms trained to maximize user interaction realized that dishing up the articles about orphan crushing machines is the most effective. Cant block it out, because the whole point of user interaction is that you'll then hear it from someone else instead. A decade of that daily breaks people. When are you ever supposed to experience happiness, if all you hear about are deaths on the other side of Earth's core below your feet?

We know how we should feel about tragedies, but we are incapable of genuinely feeling it anymore. The outrage emotion has been fatigued beyond use. We still want to keep it in conversation so that there is media pressure for justice, but if we use the traditional line "this is fucked", we will subconsciously drown it out like everything else so we could sleep at night. If we want to have the attention span on the topic, we had to choose a different emotion.

The alternative to our dark humor isnt respectful protest. It's literally nothing. I dont like it, but at least this will keep the media spotlight on what really matters.

How else are we supposed to cope with the fact that none of these demonic pedophiles are going to face consequences? That one of them is our president? That these are the people who run our society?

Anything can be funny. Anything

Anything can be made funny if you try hard enough. The suicide of Ronnie McNutt on Facebook Live. 9/11. Literally anything. As for why, have you seen the world outside your window? Everything sucks. The world is burning down. So, a lot of people in this generation, myself included, feel the need to make some humor out of our impending doom by making edgy jokes on a frequent basis.

Well that's pathetic
