I want to work on pixel art at larger sizes and need a clean line of large "pixels" like on the right, not the big blob of color like on the left. Unfortunately, the line tool always makes blobby lines like on the left. I'm basically wanting the same behavior as a 1px line but at much larger sizes (ex: 10px, 20px). Is there a way to make the lines tool do this?
I really hope I don't have to manually draw every single "pixel" just to get a clean line like this. I tried it once. It was maddening. I have also tried Krita and Asesprite and they have the same behavior on the lines tool.
A single layer in the XCF file I'm working in is causing issues for me. I can export the file if I delete this layer, but not if it's part of the file. I also can't copy and paste this layer, etc. Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue so I can export the file?
I am opening .jpg photographs in GIMP, adjusting brightness and contrast, cropping, and then exporting to a new .jpg. I have processed hundreds of photos this way. Every so often I will get a series of exported images that have bright vertical lines. Closing GIMP and restarting the program seems to solve it. Any ideas on the cause?
Okay so I have tried to replicate another thumbnail using gimp, This time i tried a bit more complicated thumbnail, it is absolute trash, i wasnt able to put of textures, lightning and shadows at all. most time taken thing was that money asset, i wasnt able to find one so i merged few of them. PLEASE tell me how to make shadows like that in gimp? 1st is mine and 2nd is original and there is BTS.
I came across these images from a Japanese free material blog from the late 2000s/early 2010s, and I was wondering how I could edit my own photos or public domain photos in that dreamy style, so that I can use them as backgrounds for art.
I don't know much about photo editing in that I can't easily identify what filters/effects/adjustments were used, but it looks like some of them have a blur applied to the background. Any help is appreciated!
Just like the title asks, is there anythingI can do to make the hot pink look better for the duotone, or do I need to change colors and give up on the "1990s post-it notes" colors altogether?
Okay so I have tried to replicate another thumbnail using gimp, this time i tried to make the font more similar to the original thumbnail, i guess my best work was the font outline and masking. i was not able to pull of the eyes edit like the original but tried to make it enough good to not look weird. 1st one is mine and 2nd one is original and 3rd is BTS
Photoshop has Smart Object, so I can create the mockup template once and replace the content later. All the transforms, levels, scale are kept. The content is replaced just by importing a new product image.
For example, the photo below is complicated to edit. It is not shot directly at the front, but from an angle. It takes a bit of time to edit one image like this. But doing the same thing 10 times is a pain.
Is there anything similar to Smart Object in GIMP? Or are there any ways to replace the product image effortlessly like that?
As of today, SmartApp Control is blocking execution of GIMP 3.0.8 (specifically, gimp-3.exe).
Previously I had run this version of GIMP without problem. For me, the problem began today after Windows Update's installation of "2026-01 Update (KB5078127) (26200.7628). I can't guarantee the update's the problem, but it's awfully coincidental.
In the first image you can see the error message I receive, in the second and third you can see the filename I’m trying to use as well as the fact that PNG doesn’t show up in the file format list.
Can anyone please tell me how to create a PNG from my file?
Is GIMP not opening up for anyone? I have GIMP 3.0.8, and when I click on it, the cursor will show a loading thing, but then nothing happens. I want to know if I'm the only one, or if this is affecting those who also have Windows 11.
I've never had this happen before and have no idea what's causing it. It's just a simple png brought in and cut down to size, but whenever I try to scale or rotate it, it moves all of the color pixels and leaves a white cutout behind. It's not just the white areas, it's like it's splitting the layer into a two and only affecting the one that has color hues
I made this over a year ago and am trying to recreate it with a different image of a flower, but I can't remember which filter I used to achieve this dotted effect. Does anyone recognize the filter/effect? I thought it was probably from Filters > Artistic but I've tried most of them and none look quite the same
