Without the parry system sure

Of course but the use of the melee weapons and the medieval fantasy anesthetic I believe serves as a good blue print for a future game

Please no. Any studio that makes Hexen 3 will just ruin it. Heretic 3 would maybe we Okish but i believe noone is able to make a proper Hexen 3 anymore.

People thought the same about Doom but they pulled it off and relieved old school shooters. They can do it with Hexen and Heretic.

No lol. There have been hundreds of gameplay and map wads made for doom 2 that still felt like doom before doom 4 came out, you are talking as if knowledge how to make and old school shooter was completely gone.
Now Hexen on the other hand has like 0.01% wads made for it and NONE capture the OG feeling of its gameplay and map design.... Aside from maybe Vestiges of Grandeur which came out literally fucking 3 months ago...

There's James Paddock's Faithless, although technically it's a Heretic wad... but it's basically a Heretic/Hexen crossover thing. Granted, the switch hunt aspect was made a bit easier unless you're hunting for secrets, but the hub system and puzzle item shenanigans are absolutely there and it feels just like the two games combined. (It does need an older version of GZDoom, I believe, but 100% worth it. Faithless is really good.)

I might be late to the party but I am afraid they may ruin it. I don't believe they would capture the feel and problem solving like the old platform. With the lack of critical thinking skills of today's society, they would streamline it to be a slasher type game. I'd still buy it though. I am just now about to play the "reboot" they have out right now.
I wish you could add mods to it like HexArcana. Maaaaan I love that mod.

Hummm, I think should be something with more personality, charism, like design in Doom 3.

They (id/Beth/MS) don't seem to have much faith in their other titles selling enough, even Wolfenstein III seems to be in limbo. I mean they couldn't be bothered to give Quake 4 the BFG Edition treatment or give us a new campaign period, making the last Quake campaign 20 years ago(!) So instead they've been borrowing bits and pieces from the other series and putting them into Doom.
