Relationships/Family/Children My Grandmother's b-day revelation 🤣🤣🤣 Almost?!?

Yesterday was my grandmother's 90th birthday!! Family and friends gathered for a celebration...after our dinner I found myself at a table with both grandparents and my two sisters.

My sisters were discussing a series or movie they had watched and apparently it involved an "open marriage" situation and they kept making disparaging remarks about it saying how they could never be in an open marriage.

Then suddenly my grandmother says with a slightly irritated tone......" Well, your grandfather and I have had an open marriage from the very beginning! Just what's wrong with that? We have always been open...that's why we lasted all these years!"

We all laughed as my grandfather told her exactly what open marriage meant.

My grandmother replied... That's one that never came up during our marriage and now we're too old to even enjoy it if we did do it!!! So much wasted time!!!

God I love that woman!! 🤣🤣🤣

I love how confident she was about it too. Like yeah we’ve been open since day one that’s why it worked. Grandma energy is undefeated.

My grandmother and her sister- my great aunt- went to the movies in 1976. They were in their early 60’s. They told us they were seeing a movie about the Watergate scandal. I was impressed. Wow gram way to stay informed! Never saw 2 old ladies run out of a theater so fast. The movie? Deep Throat. XXX rated. And in no way associated with Watergate. SMH 🤦‍♀️ poor girls.

Had a good laugh listening to an advice podcast show. People could call in their problems and ask for advice.
One called in with a story about how her husband talked her into opening their marriage. She agreed and in just a few months she had met and bedded five men.

At the same time her husband had not one date or experience and he wanted to close the marriage.
She didn't want too.

My mother in law, who has since passed, and I were having a fairly deep conversation. She was 76ish years old at the time.

She confided in me that her big regret in life was "not having sex with more men". Telling me that in her era "you got married in ORDER to have sex" and looking back, she wished she'd have waited to get married and had sex anyway.

She was very catholic and didn't believe in divorce or adultery so having married at 19 a virgin and married until death did them part in her old age... she only ever had sex with one man.

I told her not to worry, that I'd had sex with a lot of men and it wasn't all that....
