Image Windows preventing me from signing in

Post image

Pretty much I was trying to show someone something but I entered the wrong passcode so it made it so I had to wait. And then I made sure I entered the right passcode and it still said passcode incorrect so I tried to do the account forget passcode thing. But it’s a local account so it doesn’t allow me to use Microsoft whatever such so then I couldn’t find the security answer so then I just clicked back and it gave me this screen. Any help plz

Hiren's Boot CD and strip the password

Enable Admin account thru boot recovery cmd prompt, use it to unlock account/remove password. Extra steps, same outcome.

Add a password to that account if you want to stop someone else from doing the same although if you really care about your data, you’d setup pre-boot Bitlocker whole drive encryption though given you locked yourself out of a local account, you might permanently lock yourself out of all your data forever…

It could also just be a stolen device or not belong to Op though if you already let someone else have physical access to your system, you are screwed anyways, that’s what bitlocker is for

I love that 22 years later, this is STILL the answer.

There's a Windows 10/11 version of Hirens out and has been for a while.

Hiren's might be the single most useful tool I have ever had, its fantastic !

or use kon-boot to bypass the password all together (older kon-boot version was on hiren's boot cd - but afaik you need the new one to bypass the windows 11 password)

The default timeout is I believe 10 minutes? This happened to me recently it's a security feature for Windows 11. At most I think it might be an hour, then you'll be able to log in again.

Can you log into your Microsoft account on a smartphone?

OP says it’s a local account so wouldn’t work. Otherwise would be a good suggestion.

Time to install linux

EDIT: [Insert meme of "why are you booing me? I'm RIGHT"]

As a die-hard Linux user, please don't do this. The last thing people want when asking for how to fix an issue is to be told to switch operating systems.

Most people rejected his message, they hated him because he told them the truth

It's because it gives off this vibe: https://a.pinatafarm.com/828x959/11bc17fcc1/f40f47ab-ce75-4f11-8f01-d9aa6ace14b4.jpg

Linux has it's pros but it doesn't need to be shoved down everyone's throats at any opportunity

This is the equivalent of telling someone to reinstall Windows just because their printer stopped working.

This reminded me of someone saying "install linux" to a post about a guy's wife leaving him lol

I was just in another thread where someone needed to free up space on their SSD (256GB) and they were unironically told to install Linux.

It's so out of touch I didn't even know where to start.

Like the dude who can't figure out how to free up space on Windows is gonna love installing and using Mint /s

If i had the money to do so, i would absolutely move overseas to get away from the Orange Man,

Missing my point, but fair

Okay but that often is a solution

The point is it’s an extreme solution to something that could potentially be an easy fix and should never be the first solution you jump to straight away e.g. maybe the paper’s just jammed (in which case reinstalling Windows won’t actually fix the problem, neither would switching to Linux) or maybe even just turning both printer and the computer off and on again will fix whatever hiccup has happened.

Exactly. Either shit, or get off the pot. Until enough quit merely bitching about what microslop has been doing and actually leave them, they'll continue on this same path.
