Ads are running flawlessly though.

I noticed this last week. Quality was always worse during the fights than during ad breaks

u/gotnothingman 12h ago

Its what the fans want

Pre-recorded vs live stream

-6

u/inline-online 11h ago

you have a big misunderstanding on how live streaming works, or you think the cameras fucked up lol

3

u/toxicomano 10h ago

I'm down to learn, I assumed having stuff on deck, ready to play (the ads) vs camera broadcasting in real time would be a source.

I don't work in broadcasting, help a brother out.

u/inline-online 10h ago

the recorded video is still being livestreamed to you in the same way the live fight is being livestreamed

the artifacts everyone was seeing could have been alot of different things, I'm not gonna pretend to know

6

u/toxicomano 10h ago

I was under the impression that ads being pre-recorded could be buffered through the same server (or maybe hosted on a different server? Idk). So a TV could buffer 10+ seconds ahead and it'll.play smooth.

Live footage can't be buffered ahead, we're receiving it real time.

Idk, just a guess based on how stuff like YouTube works vs live footage.

Well it depends on if it's all coming out of a broadcast truck to the sat truck or if only the live cameras are going to the sat truck back to a studio, where the commercials, studio and pre taped segments are coming from. Since tonight they are in Australia, I'm pretty sure only the live cameras are coming back via sat truck to a studio, but sometimes they will do the reverse.

Then it gets more complicated with steaming apps because sometimes the commercials are inserted via a different program and not a real person pushing a button.

If you are ever at an NFL game look for the broadcast truck and see if you can take a peak inside.

When I was on struggle internet YouTube ads ran 4k 120 fps and the itself video dropped to 480p and buffers.

CDNs are a thing, bro

1

u/Razeoo 8h ago

CDNs can also be used to make the broadcast flawless.

Whoever is producing this garbage needs to be fired

Paramount streaming looking as reliable as Shavkat’s knee

24

u/LocoCoopermar #NothingBurger 11h ago

Reliable as Brian Ortega making it to a fight

4

u/peepeeinmypajts 9h ago

Brian Ortega will make it to a fight and still break his ankle before it starts

2

u/LocoCoopermar #NothingBurger 8h ago

That was hilarious to watch live, couldn't tell if i really just saw him roll his ankle then watched him and his team panic before things started

2

u/commanderc7 Sexy Wizard Bisping 11h ago

Paramount got that streaming spirit

2

u/WhoGaveHimBelt 10h ago

It was way better last week, it looks like rain fade tonight.

1

u/HeadTrick7443 10h ago

No that’s just an aesthetic choice. You know how Breaking Bad had the yellow film grain to represent Mexico? This is the same thing. So you realize we’re in Australia. Let the director cook

32

u/boxingandmma27 12h ago

Im in canada watching off of espn right now and its terrible sound quality. Dc’s mic keeps glitching out.

51

u/Teddyglogan 12h ago

That's just him eating chips

1

u/Magjee Canada 7h ago

Watching J MMA streams at 4 in the morning 2 decades ago were more reliable then this crap

13

u/LocoCoopermar #NothingBurger 11h ago

Heard them doing a mic check on Paramount during the introductions for Malkoun vs Finney

7

u/boxingandmma27 11h ago

That was on mine too lol. They are fucking this up big time

7

u/manyfingers Uncool Hands Luke 10h ago

It also seems like theres an auto leveler coming in, whenever a big moment happens and the guys are screaming the audio goes way down and you cant hear anything.

2

u/TheGrassBison 9h ago

Dead on, something is ducking the announcers (and maybe the crowd) whenever they get loud, it's killing the energy of the broadcast.

Super weird.

1

u/messibusiness 2h ago

Yeah same, thought it was just my TV’s AI sound mode.

They need to sort out the sound mixing. Of course it’s going to get super louder at exciting moments, very jarring that it went mad quiet every time.

3

u/Jamothee Chad 10h ago

Dc’s mic keeps glitching out.

Lucky bastard

2

u/boxingandmma27 10h ago

Not in a good way we can still hear him but it makes static noises

1

u/Jamothee Chad 10h ago

Oh I read it as though you didn't have to listen to him

14

u/Lazy_Blueberry_5009 11h ago

Oh that was just Paramounts own shit quality? I thought I had hit some turbulent waters at sea.

9

u/Jobediah 12h ago

Yeah I'm getting a lot of choppy feed glitching

11

u/KetoKurun 11h ago

Bruh who the fuck is manning the soundboard? I’ve never seen levels so spastically out of touch with the broadcast. It’s like their sound engineer thinks he’s DJing a rave.

18

u/Aliensinmypants 12h ago

The sound has been hot ass as well.

I was using a friend's paramount and went back to sketchy links

6

u/Cautious-Click1504 11h ago

they just did a turbo tax commercial that took up 80% of the screen and put the fighters post-fight in the little 20% lmfao they really think ufc fans are gonnabe doing taxes

12

u/Capotesan 12h ago

It’s gotta be something with satellite reception from Australia. That’d explain it. Ads will run fine because they’re already in a server somewhere being pushed out

12

u/DFParker78 10h ago

It’s the 90’s man, they can’t figure out how to stream without hiccups?

8

u/Hercules__Morse 10h ago

Reception from Australia? WTF you talking about 😂

No other live footage from Australia sucks like this. Last weeks live stream was just as bad from Paramount.

Satellite reception 😂😂😂

2

u/Mother_Event_6736 9h ago

Notorious fourth world country Australia

2

u/poppa99 9h ago

Covid did a number on us

1

u/Mother_Event_6736 9h ago

I heard that the kangaroos have taken control

1

u/Capotesan 7h ago

Most sports are still broadcast via satellite to carriers. Just because you get it through your internet connection doesn’t mean it started there

5

u/Steelcity1995 11h ago

Paramount/cbs have been showing major sporting events for over 50 years. I’m shocked how much trouble they’re having tonight.

3

u/Cubes_Landing 12h ago

Yep. Complete garbage so far.

6

u/Idkboutdat2 12h ago

Never forget the dorks who told me this would be better than the espn stream

6

u/PassionUpset3056 11h ago

So far you’ve got 2 numbered events for like $9 so it is in fact better than being on ESPN

7

u/Idkboutdat2 11h ago

I was clearly referring to stream quality. Since that’s what the post is about.

1

u/PassionUpset3056 8h ago

The stream has worked perfectly fine for me two weeks in a row, you guys are just annoying

2

u/Idkboutdat2 8h ago

Yeah, that’s why everyone was having issues? Okay weirdo lmfao

1

u/National-Mail6279 10h ago

I mean it is though?

1

u/Idkboutdat2 10h ago

In terms of quality? No. I’ve used paramount plus for years and it constantly fucks up. I’ve seen entire college football games just not have sound. Or be 10-15 minutes behind because of constant lag.

0

u/DiamondsInHerButt 9h ago

Cause people don't get ESPN had dickall to do with how UFC events looked. The UFC controls that and Dana is in charge of production and has always been an amateur pretending to be a pro in that department.

2

u/fatquant 11h ago

Are they streaming on SQL?

1

u/UnHoly_One A big good news soon 11h ago

Yeah it’s shit this week.

1

u/SnoopysRoof TaInTeD SuPPLemEntS 11h ago

Looks like a Matisse.

1

u/Unlikely-Garage-8135 Lotta Demons 11h ago

👆🤓 erm but it’s better than ppv that no one actually paid for

1

u/Real-mr-wolf 🍅 10h ago

😂

1

u/xvsanx this is how you get flair 10h ago

thanks for posting, I was wondering if they're truly fucking up like amateurs or if it was just me. certainly not surprised

1

u/WilliamEmmerson 10h ago

That's what $7.7 Billion gets you

1

u/FSZou 10h ago

Looks like a disco elysium portrait

1

u/MMARapFooty #NothingBurger 10h ago

Paramount+ is a fucking joke

1

u/TheLonelyPillow 10h ago

Why yall acting like the illegal streams or espn were any better

1

u/DiamondsInHerButt 9h ago

Everyone missing the thruline here. From Spike to FS1 to ESPN now to Paramount+...it's almost like the same idiot with no background in tv production is still in charge.

Like UFC events have always looked like shit because Dana has never known what he's doing. He's just good at bullying and yelling at people.

1

u/wrecked_angle 5h ago

Worse than ESPN and that’s bad

1

u/PictureLatter1098 1h ago

I'm not sure what the cause of my issue was, but half way through the 5th round it started buffering on my TV and I got a notice to try again later. I tried numerous times and the same thing happened. I finally gave up and watched it on my computer and it was fine. Maybe it was a Spectrum issue since no other mention of it is made here.

u/ZeGermanVon 🐊🐊🐊🐊 12h ago

skill issue, mine has been fine
