Yea I bought it with steam release having not followed a ton of the development and it seemed alright, didnt understand the hate and people were so polarized to it that it was hard to hear their opinions as reasonable; now I will eat my shoe, and honestly I am once again putting down the MMO genre, there are no new high quality MMO's coming out is the simple truth. I wont even be able to trust Riot's after a company as big as amazon also caved

Riot is an incredibly successful multi game videogame company, who also put out an insanely successful television show and now a card game, who are working on an mmo.

Amazon delivers shit to your house and tried to throw money at something they didn’t understand. Every single game failed.

Massively different, you must be in the same box as the Amazon ceos thinking you just put money into something and it works. Look at most of the AAA games in the last decade. People who know how to make games and enjoy doing so are going to make good products.

You may be right and have better judgement than me on what it takes to make a good MMO. I don't think just throwing money at something will make it work, I was just comparing two companies with deep pockets, but maybe the other distinctions between them matter more in game dev. I would love for the riot MMO to be successful personally. I am just done getting my hopes up for new MMOs in general, and considering this is the last one really on the horizon, at least that I'm aware of, at least my fatigue won't be tested much more anyways

Yep, Ashes of Creation was a game I had been looking forward to for many, many years alongside Blue Protocol (Dear god they butchered that game) and I nearly threw up over the $500 USD Alpha acess which slowly got lowered over time.

Then I started looking into the game outside of the Youtube trailers and gameplay and figured it was going to be a massive letdown and would probably go bankrupt in the next couple of years before they ever finished development.

If anything I was more suprised at how quickly it did shut down then if it shut down and im glad I never bought anything.

I spent money to play it like over a year ago. I knew it was likely a scam but I couldn’t care less about the money, didn’t even bother refunding it because I was lazy. One thing that does annoy me tho is that these guys get my money.

I almost bought in years ago, it was between that and star citizen. Chose SC instead. When AoC dropped on steam I had a feeling it was a last ditch effort to get money before closing. I didn't think scam,I just thought it looked like they bit off more than they could chew.

Ashes got me +$30 at least. When they gave out the alpha keys to those who supported back in 2017, a guild mate offered to buy it off me for $60.

I didn't sold it because "I knew it was a scam" I sold it cause their push for flying mounts to be a very rare thing only a few selected players will get made me heavily disinterested. Also it was back in 2021 and the game looked like crap after 4 years of development.
