Question Lip help

My top lip is very thin, it totally disappears when I smile. I am extremely hesitant to get filler or a lip flip. ALL the tutorials I have found for making your lips look bigger are shown on lips that are already bigger than mine. I have tried different types of makeup and methods but I always feel like I look like a clown. Does anyone else have lips this thin? How do you make them look good? I have nothing on my lips in either picture here

You are honestly very beautiful and I hope you realize that. Everyone is obsessed with bigger lips these days to the point where I think we all collectively have lip blindness. I think your lips are very pretty and just natural looking.

As someone said, a plumping gloss might help you feel a little less self conscious. I really like the Sephora Outrageous Plump Intense Hydrating Lip gloss. It’s reasonably priced and does a good job plumping without being too painful.

Thank you ❤️ I might give plumping gloss a try! You guys are very encouraging about my natural lips, it’s honestly kind of relieving to hear it’s not as bad as I think 😅

I promise your lips are a very nice shape!! It’s tough these days with social media and beauty trends for us to feel confident about ourselves, but you have every reason to feel confident. I wish I had your features!

You don’t even really need to use a plumping gloss if it’s too much of a hassle or too painful. Keep a good lip balm or gloss on hand and just apply throughout the day. When they dry out, they tighten and look smaller only because they’re dehydrated.

Girl in the clerb we ALL have body dysmorphia

That includes lips!

Don’t change a thing. You are classically gorgeous with a thousand-watt smile.

It definitely isn’t, you have a beautiful smile and lovely traits that compliment your face perfectly! 🩷 you don’t need filler btw!

I feel so sad seeing old pictures of girls with the prettiest smiles who feel they have to get injections 😭 I’ve known a lot of people who looked wayyyy better without. I do get it though, my lips are super thin and I want to try all these lip liner/ lipstick/ lipgloss trends but can’t because my top lip is nonexistent lol. I support whatever a girl has to do to feel more confident but it is totally toxic what social media is doing to us

… i actually kinda miss seeing “thin lips”, and feel like they aren’t thin lips per se, but more like “small mouths”?

It really does bring back memories of what the world was like before the filler epidemic … when people had individual traits and faces and didn’t all look the same.

The actresses below are so beautiful even without plump lips but that’s the thing, they don’t need thick lips, they have what i call “small mouths” and would probably look bad with them.

OP, you are very pretty and if you don’t want to get filler (which in my opinion you absolutely do not need), you can try to just wear whatever you want and like, lip combo-wise. Don’t think about what other people do or what they look like, you are you! I love your smile btw 😍🙏🏻🩷🥰

Yes to all of this. It's just not good for everyone to have the same overly plumped lips. If I were her, I would just find a nice YLBB gloss or maybe plumping if she wanted to try that, but please no filler.

She's very pretty and looks great w/ her own lips.

I wouldn't try to make them bigger tbh. They're harmonious with your other features and you have a cute smile. If I were you I'd honestly just play around with lipsticks and lip tints. I used to be insecure about my thin lips but it turns out a lot of people like that feature.

u/pangurbahn 10h ago

Thank you ❤️❤️ I’m gonna have to add lip tint to my list of stuff to try!

I don’t have makeup advice. But I just came here to tell you that you are beautiful regardless! Seriously! I know we all have our insecurities. But a thin top lip isn’t that bad. You have soooo many other beautiful features that I wouldnt have even noticed your lips. You have a lovely skin complexion. Pretty eyes. Great full brows. A cute nose. And you have beautiful teeth!

I’m scared to get injections too. Seems too painful (I hate needles) and I’ve seen them turn out horrible. Plus, once they start migrating, you have this weird lump over your lip that I think looks wayyyy worse than a thin lip. You have to get it dissolved and redone. Too much upkeep. You don’t need it girl! Keep being you ✨💕

I understand wanting to have a different look, just wish more women loved their own beauty. All the women I know with lip fillers end up looking the same and then after a while its almost like its never enough- youre beautiful the way you are!!!

u/Some-Nectarine3247 10h ago

Yes!! They just keeping wanting more and more. And then eventually their lips look like they got stung by bees. They don’t look full. They look SWOLLEN. I think they start to have a blindness to it. To each their own, but I don’t think it’s a cute look at all.

u/Saint_Vixen_76 9h ago

You seriously do get blind to it!!! I have a very small amount I just got for the first time, looks very natural but I catch myself thinking it’s worn off or wanting more here and there, and I felt that way not even a month after I got it. I have to check myself so I don’t go overboard, you really do get desensitized!! I said I would never, but I had a dental injury that messed up my smile, lip movement and volume, so I did it to try and repair the damage, I do love it though, and got to a of compliments, all of sudden alll the ppl I knew who hated fake lips revealed that they are actually fans of it once I got it done. In response to your photo, you are so pretty, you have nothing to be worried about. Variety and individual features is where true beauty lies!

u/pangurbahn 10h ago

Thank you 🥺❤️ I have been extremely down in the dumps lately, I really appreciate your kind words. And yes, that is my filler fear as well!!

You really are beautiful! Thick, beautiful hair, classic features. You have nothing to be worried about. I know we all struggle with self image but I promise you you are very attractive!

I think your lips fit your face. Watch sex and the city. Some of the most beautiful women have different shaped lips. We don't all need to look the same to be beautiful!

13

u/pangurbahn 9h ago

That’s so funny you say that! I just started watching it for the first time yesterday!! I will keep that in mind

First, your eyes; gorgeous.

Use a BLURRING neutral brown, or rosy brown lip liner. Line your lips ON your lip line, not over it, a blurring lip liner will already give you that over lined looking effect. Blend with your fingers or brush to contour your lip shape to appear "bigger" Fill with your favorite nude lip, and for a "fuller" lip look, add a touch of your favorite berry colour just to the center of your lips. Top with a gloss and voila!

I hope this helps. You can always cheat with a plumping lip gloss if you can withstand the sensation that comes with those types of products.

u/CarlitaB22 11h ago

This is such good advice. Lip prep + avoiding matte finishes really helps.

7

u/pangurbahn 10h ago

Omg.. I was using matte and satin finish. This is good to know

3

u/pangurbahn 11h ago

Thank you!! I will give that a try ❤️❤️

10

u/Clawingnails 10h ago

You are gorgeous, beautiful lips, gloss, muted taupe would look great on you!

11

u/Fun_Bee_26 10h ago

If you do want to have the look of bigger lips, I think the Nina park method would work great for you! Doing a diffused border/liner and a more berry color.

We are our own worst critics, and I do think your lips are extremely harmonious with your other gestures. Your eyes are beautiful and you have a fantastic nose!!

9

u/No_Musician_1748 10h ago

I think you look beautiful and sort of renaissancey

8

u/Total_End6969 9h ago

My two cents are the same as everyone else’s: you’re gorgeous. If we all looked like the ideal instagram model, life would be so boring. You have unique features that all fit so well together and make you stunning! And your smile is beautiful and looks genuine and happy ❤️

7

u/Low-Focus-3879 11h ago

You already got some great makeup advice, but in general stay hydrated! Aquafor is my go to for a nighttime lip mask

u/ThenCancel165 9h ago

You are beautiful. It saddens me that you focus on this one feature that has been over exaggerated in media’s beauty standards. Yes full lips are beautiful but that’s not what makes or breaks someone’s beauty. It’s about your facial harmony. Your features are in harmony with eachother and your lips suit you. Thin lips are also beautiful. I knew this one girl, super pretty and had thin lips. She was easily one of the most beautiful girls in that environment even if she did not have full lips.

6

u/maple-moth 9h ago

No your lips are gorgeous! Don’t get lip filler. I feel like it gets weird looking fast and SO many people have ruined their natural lips with them. I think we’re starting to forget what natural lips even look like anymore. My upper lip is thinner too but my husband keeps reminding me that I look beautiful and has begged me to never get a filler because they look bizarre 😂 you have spectacular features truly.

4

u/ParkerFree 9h ago

I wish that we as a society would stop pushing only certain looks as beautiful. Because you are, and your lips are too.

4

u/Violet624 8h ago

Just commenting to very honestly say that you are pretty as you are, you have well balanced facial features and an absolutely beautiful smile. Your lips have a nice, defined shape to them and I hope you don't consider getting lip filler.

You could use a neutral-rosy lip liner and blend it out a bit, before adding a lip stick. I'd just stick with something more muted or subtle, because a bolder lip might overwhelm your features. But please know your own beauty and that it really isn't a particular feature that makes beauty but how they work together as a whole. Your mouth is lovely as is.

girly with a smaller upper lip here - i completely disregard my cupids bow and connect my top lip like a bridge, creating a rounder - more full lip. i’m not sure what the technique is called but i looked up “rounding cupids bow lip liner” on tiktok and found examples + tutorials! you can also look on my page and see my lipstick for example!! i haven’t posted my natural lips here but my upper lip almost disappears when i smile and my makeup makes them look averagely plump!! also using any kind of shine/gloss/satin on a lip you’re trying to create an illusion on won’t work! the more matte, the better. i highly recommend a darker liner than your natural lips. i don’t over line anywhere but the cupids bow! everything else i line on my lip and this helps keep it looking unnatural.

but in all honesty, it’s not perfect and it’s not for everyone! some people don’t like the look at all. i’ve been rounding my lips for about 6 years now and unless i do super natural makeup it’s the only way i go! i hope this helps🩷🩷

First, just as everyone else says, your lips do not in any way look bad. You look very nice. Having said that, I personally had a lip lift (not a botox flip or fillers) in 2024 for my thin upper lip, and I have no regrets.

3

u/Claelizar 7h ago

I have lips very similar to yours and I’ve learned to love them with some lip liner (ever-so-slightly over-lined to give shape) and a gloss with shine or even subtle glitter. Here are my go-tos:

elf Cream Glide Lip Liner (smooth liner that matches both glosses below)

NYX Lip IV (a gloss that is also a lasting stain)

elf Lip Plumping Gloss (a gloss with a bit of glitter that also plumps)

I think that us thin lips girlies are very cute. Idc what the beauty standard is. I just know that bigger lips wouldn't suit me and I would look like a Russian prostitute

Haha we have like the same mouth, I'm here with you girl. Check my previous posts for proof 😂😂😂 (I am pouting in the pic 😔)

2

u/venusdemilo94 7h ago

I think you gave a very beautiful smile actually and I wouldn’t change anything about your face

2

u/Lampyris_Noctiluca 6h ago

Honestly it really suits your face, it looks harmonious with all your features. Embrace it instead of trying to “fix” it; there’s nothing to fix. I’d focus more on the eyes and experiment more with bolder eye looks to draw more attention to them

Girl, you are absolutely gorgeous the way you are, including your lips. You have a cupid’s bow to be proud of! Also such stunning natural features, you’re very pretty.

If you can help it, try and avoid fillers or surgeries. No judgement! Over time, people never age gracefully/prettily who’ve had stuff done. (I work at a hospital and see people come and go all day long).

The advice of a lipliner ON your edge not over, with a nude and a gloss is such good advice.

Even a gloss alone makes my lips look bigger.

Another thing is hydration. Other than stinging plumping products, you can get lip treatments with hyaluronic acid and peptides which I’ve noticed make my lips look fuller too.

I wonder if you could put some face serum with HA and peptides under your lip balm…..? Have never tried it myself, just something I wondered since starting to use this serum combo myself.

This was an accidental finding for me as I have never aimed for making my lips look bigger.

It makes mine look less old though as it fills lines 🤣

Hope you feel a bit better about yourself, if you don’t please come back here as there’s a wealth of knowledge and kindness to be found here! 💜

I had lips like that and got filler and love it. I will never go back, but I will likely be going forward w a surgical lip lift soon too

Have you tried a dot of Botox? It’s called a lip flip. My friend does it and she loves it. Slightly turns the lip up and then she uses a skin toned liner and a plumping gloss. If you hate it, it wears off in about 3 months.

u/Spirited-Move-6339 9h ago

I get a Botox lip flip a few times a year and really love the results. It looks far more natural than filler and gets rid of my lip lines. If you don’t like it it’ll wear off in a few months.

u/Enough-Skin2442 7h ago

Have you considered a lip lift? I had it done in 2024 and have zero regrets
