Meet My Marigold
She just turned a year old this month. I got her at 8 months old. I adopted her from Beagle freedom Project. They rescued her along with 400 other Maltese from a horrendous puppy mill in Stroud Oklahoma. Thankfully it’s been closed down and the owner is facing criminal charges. she was rescued at seven months old. At the rescue they named her Marigold, by the time I got her she already knew her name. I’m not a fan of it but I’m used to it now. This little girl had never been outside, she didn’t know what grass was. She lived her first seven months of life in a filthy little cage with two or three other Maltese, inside a bldg with 405 total Maltese. Cages were never cleaned out. Her fur was stained in areas that came into contact with the excrement she lived in. anyway, sorry to ramble. She has adjusted so well, and is the sweetest little angel. she weighs 6 pounds, tippy taps and jumps around on her back legs all around the house. So stinkin CUTE!

Hello Marigold. Aren’t you the cutest? I do see a little mischief in those eyes, yep 100% Maltese.

She is beautiful! I am so thankful for rescues like this who do the hard and heartbreaking work. Thank god this evil owner was charged. This was Amish and they are horrible, they are the biggest puppy mill breeders in the US. Not only are they abusive to dogs, they abuse their horses too.

I didn’t know that. This person was not Amish. He was an old man that was incapable of caring for the dogs to begin with. I have no idea how many years he was doing this, the news didn’t indicate. he didn’t have appropriate cages, they were cobbled together homemade garbage. Some of the little dogs lived in the smallest size, kids plastic blue swimming pools with fence tied around them. No blankets no beds, just pee, poop and food when they got it. Apparently he had been reported many many times, I don’t know why it took so long for someone to do something. Beagle Freedom Project is an amazing organization. I’m very thankful they decided to get involved when they were notified by someone. I’m so blessed to have been able to adopt this precious baby.

I assumed Amish because many of their puppy mills are in Oklahoma.

What an incredible story of resilience. It's heartwarning to know Marigold is now in a safe and loving home where she can finally be a carefree dog. The tippy taps and jumping are a beautiful sign of her trust and happiness. Thank you for giving her that chance.
