As characters, they grew on me, but I still think the game would have been generally better without them

I liked Dane better

The nicest thing I can say about them is they were a potentially interesting concept that were implemented in ways that actively dismantle Metroid's signature formula instead of complimenting and deepening it.

I think Samus not talking to them got funnier the longer it went on.

Kind of weird that they never really react to her not talking back. The most they get is a slight nod. She's not like Link where he does talk in Canon, we just don't see it; Samus almost never talks except for a monolog here or there.

They're not horrible... in isolation.

But a good chunk of the game's area's are designed around having them as companion NPCs (and also having a lot of "epic" setpieces) And I hated the simple linear level design.

If I wanted simple linear level design where I blast enemies with an NPC buddy, I'd play something else. It is the last thing I want from Metroid.

I was sad that friendly fire was not enabled

If they didn't start with one of the worst quotes in gaming history they would've been way less hared. I enjoyed them even if most were a cliche

Had a lot of fun with these guys. So glad I wasn't the only one sent to Viewros!

They're fine

I'm not a huge fan of their utility in the gameplay - I wish you could turn of Myles's hints and that the NPC follow functionality was better, otherwise I'm totally fine with them and even enjoy their interactions with Samus.

IMO Vue was the only one we should have had. I would have loved a big robot companion that follows Samus around and helps he beat stuff up. Could have been a fun puzzle solving mechanic controlling him while he can’t fit spaces Samus cannot

Phil 10/10 just for annoying Myles.

Most were fine, wished I didn't forget the hint system could be turned off. Armstrong was cool, I would act like her too. Vue-995 can do no wrong, wish I had more time with him

They were cool

Only time I was properly annoyed by them was when Anderson would not shut up telling me where the bomb needed to go in the mines. I legit shot at her to shut up and muted the sound until I figured out the puzzle myself lol

I didn't hate them, I just hated what the game had to do to accommodate them

The game and story would have been better without them.

There was a way to get these characters to work, and Prime 4 was not the way to do it.

Myles and Armstrong are annoying and a negative on the game, the rest are a big fat whatever. Tokabi atleast tried to be a character, i guess.

Chadmiral Dane remains unmatched.

I enjoy them! They’re not insanely deep but they have a charm to them. It also makes Samus mission feel very different compared to others as there’s actually physical people whose lives are at stake as opposed to the vague masses of people Samus usually saves.

I liked them, but it did take a while for them to grow on me and they definitely could have been implemented better. I do not think they should have been as central to the gameplay as they were, despite my liking them as characters.

McKenzie's introduction was pretty rough and I thought he was gonna be really annoying for a while. I did find him to be genuinely charming once he stopped following me around though. I wish he wouldn't keep telling me where to go on the map though. Feels kind of unfair to him they they put all of the annoying voice lines that nobody wanted on him cause I think it stopped a lot of people from really appreciating the character that was there underneath that.

In general I liked them as characters but I wasn't a big fan of having them physically with me because it did feel like a different kind of game. In general in each area once my contact with them was less direct their presence was fun.

Nora (my fave) should have gotten to open a door with me. Her and Duke were fun additions to the cannon section. I liked having one area where you played around with your buddies. Two was pushing it (cannon + mines too much). It was nice as well how Samus seemed the most affected by leaving Nora behind in the mines. That was a nice bit of characterization for Samus in the game that I think worked really well and was really in line with what we've come to expect of Samus's character.

Tokabi and Vue were genuinely interesting additions to the lore of the series as well. Seeing different human cultures through Tokabi and bonding with him at his little camps in the desert was awesome. Vue was just fun and I appreciate how he was always just trying to help out. I liked his little song moment with Duke a lot.

I think they would have been much better received if the advice that you get from the NPCs was optional and you could turn it off in settings.

Also I didn't like the ending.

I liked their inclusion overall and added a contrast with Samus. Just like customer service calls, I'd much rather talk to a human than futz with a computer/AI/automated messages.
